The ends always justify the means, and it doesn't matter who or what the collateral damage is. She is driven to be the best, and she will not allow anyone to stand in her way. She lives for the kill, and desires to find someone who can finally defeat her. She assesses each situation strategically and without emotion, cold. She has no personal attachments, not even to her family, and has only ever had a soft spot for a few people in her life. That said, Shiva is not without honor. Her word means everything to her, and she will do everything to make sure her word is kept. She revels in others pain, especially if she is the one causing it. She rarely laughs, but when she does, it is usually after a hard-fought victory, with her opponent lying dead and broken beneath her. She has set aside her own views for a time, even becoming a teacher to the third Robin, Tim Drake. She has great respect for the boy, given that he was one of the few people to actually beat her hand-to-hand, and technically killed her before bringing her back. However, respect for her only goes so far. She cannot abide someone defeating her, and will challenge them again and again, should she ever lose. She is a perfectionist, never settling with being second best. As a martial artist, Shiva loves physicality, but she also is very spiritual. Like most martial artists, she believes that she is only at her best when her mind and her body are truly in sync. She does not work well with others in prolonged instances, so she generally tends to be alone. She can work in groups, as long as the groups are like-minded, and can handle themselves alone, as well. Shiva craves fighting, and yearns for feeling the danger. However, her skills have progressed so that she rarely ever feels challenged, anymore. [/style][STYLE=color: #191919; font-size: 10px; margin-top: 10px; margin-left: 10px;]DOCUMENTED HISTORY[/style][STYLE= margin: 0px 10px 0px 10px; border: 2px solid #191919; padding: 2px; font-family: verdana; height: 125px; overflow: auto; font-size: 11px; color: #000000; text-align: justify; background-color: #ffffff; opacity: 0.8] Sandra Wu-San's story doesn't really start until the murder of her sister, Carolyn. Convinced by a criminal Cravat that Richard Dragon was responsible for her sister's death, Sandra trained herself in martial arts to prepare for her fight with the Dragon. What she didn't know was that Cravat was using her to try to take down Richard Dragon. She was a natural, gaining knowledge in Martial Arts at an almost unheard of speed until she finally felt she was ready to take on Richard. However, before the fight even began, Richard managed to convince her that Cravat was using her for his own means, and that he had not killed Carolyn. This left Sandra without purpose, though Richard saw something in her, continuing her training, driving her towards a new goal. It was Richard who told her to delve into the spirtual side of martial arts as well, and after discovering truths about herself, Sandra Wu-San was no more, and Lady Shiva was born. She became a crime fighter for a short time, before deciding to fight closer to her true self. She decided she wanted to perfect her martial arts, and was addicted to combat and life-and-death situations. She sought these out, becoming a mercenary and caring less and less about doing right. She took a contract out on Victor Sage, the Question. She defeated him with ease, but saw something in him, potential she couldn't ignore. Saving him, Shiva took the man to her former master to allow Victor to refine his skills. Since then, every time they have crossed paths, Shiva has challenged him. She has great respect for Victor, claiming he is one of the best combatants on the planet, and views him as a measuring stick for her own success. She encountered the Leage of Assassins, and has butted heads with its leader, Ra's Al Ghul. While Ra's was more interested in taking out what he considered 'unworthy' elements in the world, Shiva wanted perfection for her abilities. She was hired to train up-and-coming assassins and mercenaries. It was then she first ran into Batman, and his protege, Robin. Jason Todd was Robin at this point, and it was suggested that Shiva could very well be Jason's mother. She found this idea laughable, and fought Batman to a standstill. In fact, the only reason she lost was due to the intervention of Robin. Invigorated by her battle with the Bat, Shiva sought out those who called themselves Masters of their arts. She would learn what she could, and would either kill them or let them live. Her decision to kill was based on whether or not they had more to teach her, or just whimsy. She became interested in learning of how a true master was defeated, and sought out Koroshi, a master of empty-handed martial arts. Learning that it was King Snake who had defeated him, Shiva sought out the man. It was then she came across a young Tim Drake, in training to become the next Robin. Shiva trained Tim in general hand-to-hand combat and exclusively in one weapon-style. He chose bo-staff, which she derisively pointed out was a non-lethal form of combat. After training, she challenged him with the bo-staff and upon her defeat, gifted him with his collapsible bo-staff before moving on. During a fight with King Snake, Shiva ordered Robin to kill him, and when he didn't do so, she kicked him off a cliff. She assumed she had killed him, but that was not the case. After Batman had his back broken, he sought out Shiva for training. Though she deemed him unworthy of her training, she gave him a training regimen out of respect for who he was. Wearing a tengu mask, she killed a sensei, making sure his best student was watching, then had Bruce wear a tengu mask in all training exercises. When the students attacked Bruce, thinking him to be the one who murdered their master, Shiva tried to convince Bruce to 'complete' his training by killing one of the students. He tricked her into thinking he had, though she did not seek out vengance for this. After the earthquake rocked Gotham, Lady Shiva took up the guise of 'Paper Monkey' to fight in the tournament the Brotherhood of the Monkey Fist set up in the ruins of the city. Her final opponent was Connor Hawke, and after a very taxing fight, she finally won. However, Tim Drake asked her to refrain from killing Connor. As Tim had previously fought, and killed Shiva before, only to revive her in the past, Shiva honored his request. She warned him, though, that she would hunt him down and kill him when he was older. From here, Shiva sought out the new Batgirl, hearing her to be of legendary talent. However, she was easily defeated. Shiva struck a deal with Cassandra Cain, agreeing to reteach the skills she had lost with the understanding that one year later, the two would meet again in a duel to the death. Shiva beat Batgirl, though realized that the girl had not fought at her peak ability, and revived her. The two fought again, and this time, Batgirl beat Shiva, breaking her jaw, but refusing to kill her. Shiva revealed that she was Cassandra's mother, and Batgirl fought her once again, this time supposedly killing her, though near a Lazarus Pit. After the Infinite Crisis, Shiva and Black Canary had switched places, living in each others lives for a time. Canary thought, or hoped, it would soften Shiva up, though it didn't really work all that well. Shiva was still cold, and uncaring. During a fight with Prometheus, Shiva was defeated with ease, and immediately left the Birds of Prey. Still, she harbored no ill towards the team, even showing up when called upon to help take down Spy Smasher. Shiva then challenged Robin in the duel she had promised so long ago, though Drake had been prepared for her. He poisoned her with chocolates, and though she managed to injure the boy, she is left incapacitated. She has combinded numerous martial arts styles, including but not limited to: Leopard Kung Fu, Judo, Capoeira, Kokusho, Savate, Karate, Dragon Kung Fu and Stick Fighting. She is brutally efficient in fighting, and has mastered the One-Punch kill techniques. Shiva can also read body language, able to anticipate her opponents moves before they even make them. She can even control her own nervous system, enabling her to deaden her body to pain, and even control her blood rate. She is also an expert acrobat, though she is nowhere near the level of Dick Grayson. She is profiecient enough to use and combine acrobatic tricks in with her martial arts. STRENGTH LEVEL: Shiva is at least strong enough to lift her own body weight, if not more. She routinely exercises and is in the best shape of her life. WEAKNESSES: While difficult, it is not impossible to defeat Shiva in hand to hand combat. However, it is hard to get the drop on her. Her weaknesses are the same as any other human. The earthquake that had torn the city apart had created quite an opportunity for her. The Brotherhood of the Monkey Fist was holding a tournament in the ruins of Gotham City. It was the perfect place and setting for her to hone her skills even more. Now under the guise of the Paper Monkey, she could challenge the supposed best. A group of followers asked if they should take out the two heroes. At this, she pondered for the briefest of moments. She had heard much of the young Arrow's fighting prowess, and yearned to challenge him herself. As for the Boy Wonder, he held a special place in her heart. He had killed her, something she had not expected, but found she quite enjoyed. Of course, he had felt horrible about it and revived her within minutes, but the act of her death was enough. "They are not to be touched, especially Robin. Anyone who brings harm to him will answer directly to me. Is that understood?" Her voice was cold, emotionless as she eyed her future prey. She hoped young Connor Hawke put up a decent fight, for she had grown bored with fighting so-called Masters, and defeating them with ease. Her words had their desired effect, and the Monkeys quickly put away their weapons. At least, for now, things were progressing on schedule. Some Time Later Shiva grunted as she felt a sharp blow to her stomach. The young Connor Hawke was putting up more of a fight than she had imagined. Driving her arm down, she blocked the boy's follow-up kick, and spun into a sweeping leg kick that sent the hero stumbling back. The boy had received extensive training, and his natural aptitude for fighting was almost at her level. They had been fighting for the last five minutes, and yet there was no clear victor as of yet. Shiva was loving every second. It had been so long since she had been challenged in this way. So long, she had almost forgotten how satisfying it felt to possibly be losing. "You are far better than I thought, young Arrow. But, I'm afraid I must end this, now." Shiva stepped forward, her movements fluid as she blocked a punch, and then a reverse-elbow strike. Thrusting two fingers up, Shiva hit a cluster of nerves, sending what probably amounted to a great deal of pain through the boy's body. It also limited his use of his right arm. Still, the boy fought on, bringing his left arm to bear as he backhanded Shiva across the face. Using the power of the blow, Shiva spun and landed a roundhouse kick on the Arrow's ear, dropping him instantly. Straddling the boy, she prepared for the final blow. "NO! Don't kill him. Please. Shiva, don't kill him." The voice of Tim Drake, Robin, pierced the night as Shiva stopped the blow mere centimeters from Connor's throat. Looking up at the costumed teen, Shiva frowned. She didn't like leaving defeated opponents alive, especially ones as talented as young Connor Hawke here. Still, maybe this once. "You know what you ask, young Robin? If I spare his life, you take up the burden. That means one day, when you are older, I will track you down and kill you. Are you ready to take that burden, Robin?" She already knew the answer, even before the boy gave it. And he answered without hesitation. She didn't know what she felt at that moment. Was it pride, for seeing her once-pupil getting stronger? Or was it disdain for how quickly and eagerly the boy was willing to throw his life away. For she would kill him, now, no matter how much she respected him. "Very well. He will live, and sometime in the future, when you are older and stronger...your time will come. Goodbye, Robin."[/style][STYLE=color: #191919; font-size: 12px; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; text-align: center; font-family: courier new]subject examined by Doctor Cyber[/style] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;][STYLE=background-color: #f1e3b4; font-family: times new roman; font-size:30px; color: #404040; min-height: 150px; padding: 5px; text-align: center; moz-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; -o-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; -webkit-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px;]L A D Y S H I V A[/style] |
