It took her a long time to get comfortable with herself and she fights against what people "expect" from her just because of her past. She wants to make her own unique path and doesn't like to be told who she is. She doesn't put up with crap. She's aggressive, tough, and quick to act but has a soft side if she is comfortable with you. She has a quick, sarcastic wit and definitely has no time for egos. Originally the ancient Egyptian Chay-Ara, she and her lover, Prince Khufu, discovered an alien aircraft from Thanagar that had crash landed in the desert. It was here that the legendary Nth metal was discovered and soon shown to have certain special qualities such as control over gravity. The Prince and Princess lived honorable lives until they were brutally murdered by their high-priest, Hath-set, who used a dagger forged of the special Nth metal. Because of the mystical and psychic properties the metal contained, the spirits of the Prince and Princess were caught up into a cycle to be reincarnated lifetime after lifetime. Because of their strong love and connection, each lifetime the pair are destined to find each other - and each lifetime they are destined to be killed by the reincarnated spirit of Hath-set. Previously, Prince Khufu and Princess Chay-Ara have been reincarnated into many different cultures and lifetimes, including such pairs as Cinammon and Nighthawk. Eventually, the pair would come back again to earth as Carter Hall and Sheira Sanders and for the first time take up the names Hawkman and Hawkgirl as they fell in love and eventually would fight crime side-by-side. The pair would even give birth to their first and only child, Hector Hall, who would eventually play a key role as Dr. Fate. However, there happiness was short-lived as the events known as Zero Hour caused the death of Hawkgirl while Hawkman was merged into another being and eventually through into limbo. Today, Hawkgirl is back in the body of Kendra Saunders - but it wasn't always that way. The granddaughter of adventurer Speed Saunders and the great-grandniece of the original Hawkgirl, Kendra lived a happy childhood in texas with her parents, Michael and Trina. A horrifying experience as a child caused things to change and eventually led to the murder of Kendra's parents by an unknown assailant. Leaving her parentless, the teenage Kendra went through troubled times, had a child (Mia) who she gave up for adoption and is only known to exist by her grandfather Speed Saunders and Carter Hall, and eventually attempted suicide multiple times. One specific attempt put her in the hospital in critical condition. Speed came to her aid but they announced her dead. Several minutes later, she began breathing again. Kendra recovered and thought she lucked out to be alive. However, the soul of Kendra Saunders truly had died that day and at that time the soul of Chay-Ara/Shiera Hall entered Kendra's body. However, Kendra still thought she was and had the memories of Kendra Saunders. Her grandfather did recognized the change, took Kendra in and trained her to take up the mantle of Hawkgirl. In time, she joined the JSA and her life as a hero took off. Since then, Carter Hall returned and Kendra was made aware of her true nature as Shiera. The returned Hawkman pushed to pick up where they last left off as lovers, but with the lack of Sheira's memories, Kendra refused to be told who she was and fought against her feelings for Hawkman. She moved to St. Roch, LA, in an attempt to discover the murderer of her parents and after succesfully doing so, stayed in the town to help protect the city alongside Hawkman. Slowly she is regaining Sheira/Chay-Ara's memories and embracing her role - but still strives to be independent from what fate and destiny would dictate. Known Abilities: Expert combatant, expertise with ancient and new weaponry, Use of Nth metal - provides flight capabilities (used along with a wing harness), healing capabilities, advanced strength, body temperature control, and possibly other unknown capabilities. Strength Level: With the Nth Metal, she is capable of lifting heavy objects up to the weight of a small car. Without the metal, she has some residual enhanced strength above normal human capabilities. Weaknesses: She's Mortal. Without the Nth metal gear, she's only a good combatant with some minor enhanced abilities. In addition, Nth metal doesn't make her invulnerable. Susceptible to any major threat. Beyond physical weaknesses, she is head-strong and emotional, and in her quest to fight her "fate," can act out in passion and blind herself from logic especially when faced with things that are being forced upon her or deemed as fated for her. She doesn't like being told what to do and hence often fights it or does the opposite. In addition, she has not been able to tap into the full potential and knowledge of her past lives and can come across as inexperienced in new situations. She looked down at the city of St. Roch, her home. The city was quiet for the night, the only sound was that of the wind that whispered threw the buildings. Sometimes a car would drive by on the street below that caused the stillness to be disturbed. Kendra waited, her body remaining still except the slight ruffle of her wings as the wind rushed by. Her mind was thinking over her life and how it had change in the last few years. Since the day she had tried to take her life but had woken in the hospital bed and with her training to take up the mantle of Hawkgirl. Her Grandfather had been a wonderful support and the members of the JSA where always there for her as well. However she could feel something or some part was missing, like a piece of puzzle that wasn’t fitting just right yet. She had had these feelings for a long time now, not to mention the weird times where she thought she was remember something of long past. It was those memories that brought on more of the feelings that something was indeed missing and caused her to be more confused than anything. Hawkgirl had decided to take her pain that she felt and the confusion on the world by using it to fight evil. She wasn’t going to let what had happen to her to happen to other families if she could. She still had a plan to find the man that caused the death of her parents and making him pay for them. Though she knew she should kill him, that she had had learned from the members of the JSA; death would be the last thing. No she would try to bring him in for justice, that was the only way her parents would rest in peace and she would be free to do so as well; but the longing to cause them pain they had caused her wasn’t an easy thing to smash down. Hawkgirl shook her head slightly and peered out into the night. She had heard of a possible break in at the museum, some mob boss was willing to pay a good price for one of the artifacts on the inside. That was why she was here tonight; she was going to stop whoever was foolish enough to even try. Her eyes scanned the street below her carefully, looking deep into the shadows for any movement. Her mace was in her right hand that hung loosely to her side while her left hand rested on her hip. Her attention was drawn to the west side of town as a truck, in a bad need of a tune up, came speeding down the road. She dropped into a crouch and waited, watching as it drew closer and suddenly stopped right in front of the museum. She watched as three men all in black exit the truck and pulled out what looked like tools, before the truck speed off. It appeared that the news she had received was right, these men where here for something that didn’t’ belong to them. Sad for them they had made a very bad choice and they were going to pay for it tonight. Hawkgirl pulled herself fully out of her memories and into the task at hand. It was her job to save this building for others to enjoy and not for those who thought with money they could buy anything they wanted. She would have time to think more about her life and maybe put the pieces together when the night events where over. So without much thought she jumped into the air and went into a swan dive off the building; heading right for the three men all in black. The three men all in black didn’t know what was coming for them, but they heard what sounded like something falling through the air and just like fools they looked up. The sight of something large with wings heading right toward them caused them to freeze, not even their eyes blinked. Kendra landed in the mist of them, and for a second they just stood there looking at each other. “I think you boys have the wrong building.” She looked over at the door that had already received damage from them breaking in. “Though it appears you have already tried to make yourself at home.” The three men seemed to come out of their trance, when Hawkgirl started talking. They were not to happy to see her there and it became clearer when they picked up what weapons they had been holding and started to aim at her. Hawkgirl ready herself, for one had a gun another had a knife and one had a bat, this wasn’t going to be that hard of a battle she already knew. The first attack came from the gun, as the shot rang in the air, Hawkgirl made her escape by jumping into the air and landed behind the man. Before he could really could turn around and take a shot at her again she had arranged a little meeting between his head and her mace. His buddy with the knife decided to take the time to charge at her. Thinking quickly Hawkgirl was able to block his attack with her brace and kick his feet out from under him. He hit the ground hard and didn’t get back up. That last one decided to run for it, throwing his bat to the ground he took off on a run. Why did they always run, surely they knew there was no point to it, as since she had been able to catch up to him a matter of second and return him with his companion, though he was the lucky one to remain awake; all the while crying for mercy. Hawkgirl disappeared into the shadows, not too far away so she could watch her capture but enough away that the police would be able to pick up where she had left off. They would know she had been there and they wouldn’t be too happy, but she didn’t care the police had let her down before and she would a make sure that their slack wouldn’t hurt someone like it had her again.
