History
Kara Zor-El's pod from Krypton crash lands not in Kansas but in Russia. She stumbles from her craft only to be suddenly surrounded by gigantic armed robots who begin to try and subdue her. In an amazing display of power she shows off her strength, speed, defense, senses, heat vision, and screams until she is finally overcome by the robots and her own confusion of being on a distant unknown planet. With a blaster pointed to the back of her head she is finally saved by nothing less than a single word from Superman.
Confused by her current situation and her new powers, Kara angrily demands to know why Superman is wearing her family's crest. When Superman identifies himself as her cousin Kal-El, Kara becomes enraged, thinking he is an imposter; in her mind she was holding baby Kal-El only the day before. Kara attacks Superman, only to become scared by her own new abilities, such as x-ray vision and flight. The two exchange blows all the way from Siberia to the Great Wall of China. After punching Superman through the Great Wall, Kara realizes her fight is endangering the people nearby and agrees to accept Superman's help adapting to her new life.
Kara doesn't however believe in anything that Superman tells her and decides to go back to her pod to find out the 'truth'. She goes back to her pod and is amazed by the fact that Superman is going to protect people in danger instead of helping her to find out if there is even a chance of Krypton being intact. However, Superman gives her a final warning telling her that she "is not prepared for" this world. When she arrives there she is greeted by a hologram of Simon Tycho. She doesn't understand anything that he is saying but she decides to follow the hologram when she sees a model of her belongings, thinking rightly that he would have them. When she arrives at the space station where Mr. Tycho and his operatives are situated, she is 'greeted' by insect like robots that shoot heat beams and here Supergirl demonstrates that she is able to heat her body temperature up to a greater degree than the robots can shoot. As a second test, Mr. Tycho sends The Brain to fight Supergirl, who she eventually defeats by leaving it in open space. She then finds her belongings with her X-Ray vision, but finds out it is a trap when they get there because she is being exposed to Kryptonite.
She is then held in a tube, while Mr. Tycho and his team test her clothing, among other things. However, a reluctant employee who was actually controlling a mech during the fight and was earlier interrogated by confused Supergirl, tries to rescue her. However, he is unsuccessful because he is stomped midway by his employer, Mr. Tycho and shot dead. Supergirl however is now in contact with the sun and can fight back, however she comes to a standstill when Tycho shows her the sunstone in his hand, which Kara realizes probably has a message from her father within it. To combat this, Kara uses her vision to explode the satellite. With this she gets the sunstone and flies out of the satellite. She measures the amount of damage inaccurately and the Satellite ends up exploding almost completely, leaving Mr. Tycho without limbs and heavily burnt. His assistant put him in The Brain to help him recover. At the end however, he remains happy because he has Supergirl's blood sample on one of his employees, which was his aim in the first place.
Shortly thereafter, she encounters Superboy, whom she soon recognizes as a clone. This realization sends her into a rage and, calling him "Kon-El," an "Abomination in the House of El" she engages him in combat. Ultimately, however, the two are able to reconcile. Soon afterwards she single fought against the World Killers and defeated them, their young Kara continued her destiny.

Powers
Known Powers: A Kryptonian’s body acts as a solar battery; absorbing yellow-sun solar energy which can then be used as various remarkable powers. Using their powers causes them to use up this stored yellow sun energy. A Kryptonian can lose their powers if they expend a lot of energy quickly (e.g. during Superman’s battle with Doomsday). They can also lose their powers if they spend too much time away from a yellow sun while in outer space. When low on solar energy, a Kryptonian can 'recharge' their solar reserves by exposing themselves to a source of yellow sun energy. The rate at which they 'recharge' can vary, based on proximity and other unknown factors. When they have absorbed excess solar energy, their power levels have been above normal until the excess power is burned up.
Strength Level: Capable of lifting any object on earth, and even planetoids with the use of a ‘super-charge’ of solar energy.

Known Powers: A Kryptonian’s body acts as a solar battery; absorbing yellow-sun solar energy which can then be used as various remarkable powers.
- Solar Energy Absorption: This is the main source of a Kryptonian’s powers. They constantly absorb solar energy, storing the energy in their unique physiology.
- Superhuman Strength: While the exact magnitude of a Kryptonian's strength is unknown, it is generally accepted that their strength easily surpasses the capacity to lift 1,000,000 tons, but how much more is not known exactly. A Kryptonian’s strength, like their other powers, fluctuates over time. A Kryptonian has also shown the ability to become even stronger when "supercharged". A Kryptonian can possess enough strength to move a small planetoid upon attaining enough solar energy from Earth's yellow sun, but normally are only strong enough to lift any object on earth.
- Invulnerability: A Kryptonian’s body is nigh-invulnerable and they’ve been capable of surviving nuclear explosions. In addition, a Kryptonian’s immune system protects them from toxins and diseases. The most common explanations for their invulnerability are having a super-dense molecular structure and/or a supercharged bioelectric "aura" which acts as an invisible "force field" around their bodies within a few millimeters from their skin. The proximity of this field to their skin means that loose clothes, for example, may be burned off, while cloth that is close to their body is protected by the "aura". This field has also been implied to unconsciously extend to an undetermined extent to protect a greater area, allowing them to carry huge objects within the Earth's atmosphere and without gravity or inertia tearing them apart.
- Superhuman Stamina: Ability to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an undefined period. Theoretically, A Kryptonian has unlimited stamina; nourishment coming from the solar energy their cells process. They do, however, have the psychological need to eat and drink just as humans do, though they receive the majority of their nourishment from the Sun. They require sleep on occasion so they can dream. Kryptonian’s can also take deep breaths, oxygenating their blood, enabling them to go for hours without having to breathe.
- Flight: Kryptonian’s can fly through force of will, which enabled them to maneuver precisely in any direction, as well as hover. The mechanism by which they fly is unknown, but some suggestions have been a field of energy allowing unconscious manipulation of gravity or diffract/reflect of gravity due to unidentified Kryptonian organs affected by a yellow sun, or psionic manipulation of a personal anti-gravitational aura, which is also caused by his Kryptonian cells and a yellow sun. A Kryptonian’s speed has been established at being just under the speed of light. A Kryptonian could fly faster in the depths of space due space warps allowing them to traverse intergalactic space.
- Superhuman Speed: A Kryptonian has the ability to move at an incredible speed, like the Flash. This includes running, but flying is less strenuous and more versatile. Their top speed seems to be just under the speed of light. A Kryptonian also possesses superhuman reflexes and the ability to move at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. They can also perform complex actions like assembling objects at hundreds of times faster than a normal human.
- Enhanced Senses: A Kryptonian possesses greatly enhanced senses.
- Telescopic Vision: The ability to "zoom in" the distance to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. The total telescopic ability is unprecedented, but limited to some extent.
- X-Ray Vision: The ability to see through anything except lead. They can see things behind a wall as if the wall were not there, or can "peel back" layer after layer of matter in their mind. A Kryptonian can focus their vision past layers of matter, literally seeing "through" them -- possibly perceiving x-rays, cosmic rays or other forms of energy invisible to normal human vision which pass through Earth's atmosphere (and solid objects) after emission from stars. Since it is passive, this ability would not generate harmful radiation in the same manner as a focused projection of hard X-rays.
- Microscopic Vision: The ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level (normal optical microscopes can only see objects down to the size of chromosomes).
- Infrared Vision: The ability to see in total darkness.
- Electro-magnetic Spectrum Vision: A Kryptonian can see well into most of the EM Spectrum. They can see and identify radio/television and any and all broadcast & transmitted frequencies, allowing them to avoid detection through radar or satellite monitoring methods. A Kryptonian can see the paranormal aura that every living thing generates.
- Superhuman Hearing: The ability to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. The only Earth creature who can detect sounds at the frequency he can is a blue whale (0.01-200,000 Hz). He has shown enough control to block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source/frequency. He can identify a person by their heartbeat, or pick out a single voice in an entire city.
- Telescopic Vision: The ability to "zoom in" the distance to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. The total telescopic ability is unprecedented, but limited to some extent.
- Heat Vision: The ability to fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at it with the conscious act of activating this power. Visually, the power is typically depicted as two beams of red light firing from their eyes. These beams can be made invisible, allowing them to work undetected. The maximum temperature of their heat vision is said to be around that of a nuclear detonation. The area of effect can be consciously determined by them, down to the microscopic level. Recent stories imply the precision is so exact it can bypass a target's outer shell (not causing damage to a person's skull for surgical purposes) or even defenses (such as invulnerability or intangibility).
- Super Breath: The ability to create hurricane force winds by blowing, and to chill their breath in order to freeze a target (this latter ability has also been called "freeze breath" and "arctic breath"). A Kryptonian can also breathe in large amounts of air, an ability used when dealing with and disposing things like clouds of poison gas.
- Super Intelligence: Kryptonians are considered geniuses by human standards. They possess a photographic memory, and are capable of easily assimilating and processing all the minutiae of data that they comes across every waking moment, even at super-speeds, with perfect clarity and without confusion.
Strength Level: Capable of lifting any object on earth, and even planetoids with the use of a ‘super-charge’ of solar energy.
Weaknesses:
- Magic: Kryptonian’s are vulnerable to magical and psionic effects. Although they are no more detrimentally affected by such effects than a normal human would be, this is a significantly exploitable weakness in comparison to their incredible physical resilience.
- Kryptonite: Since the destruction of Krypton, its remains (rendered radioactive by the explosion) have been spreading throughout the universe as kryptonite, a crystalline substance which has many variants. Exposure to Green Kryptonite instantly expels all of the stored solar energy from a Kryptonians body, rendering them powerless in a matter of seconds and more often than not crumpling them to the ground in pain and making them extremely ill. A long exposure could kill them.
Lead and other similar super-dense materials can block Kryptonite radiation, protecting all exposed - Lengthy, prolonged exposure to Kryptonite radiation is proven to cause cancer in humans. - Lead: A Kryptonian cannot see through lead with their vision powers.
- Solar Energy: Superman will eventually weaken without replenishing his energy reserves with normal (yellow) sun radiation. He is not replenished by red sunlight, and its radiation can be used to weaken him. The storage capacity is sufficient enough to let them function at full capacity for up to 3 days, depending on physical condition and how well rested they are.
