History
What was thought to be the history of birth Adam Blake
In 1931, John and Martha Blake gave birth to a son named Adam. Moments after his birth, a comet streaked across the Midwestern sky. John jokingly commented that the comet represented a sign of good fortune, but had little foreknowledge of how truthful his statement would come to be. Although the Blake’s were unaware of it at the time, the comet had emitted low-level waves of radiation, which triggered mutagenic cell growth in Adam Blake's body. As such, Adam began to develop incredible mental attributes.
By the time he was four-years-old, Adam demonstrated acute powers of observation. On one occasion he mentally located his mother's missing wedding band beneath a pile of discarded wood.
By the time he was eight, Adam's intelligence developed even further – he possessed a photographic memory and was able to memorize and comprehend all of the information that he had gleaned from an entire volume of encyclopedias.
His mental skills continued to sharpen well into his teenage years, and he developed expert talents in nearly everything he attempted. He could perform a Mozart concerto on a clarinet without ever having picked up the instrument before.
Adam's physical prowess did not begin to develop until his college years, however. Although his body's development matured at a slower rate than his mind, he excelled in nearly every athletic event, notably football. He was virtually indestructible, and his superhuman stamina prevented him from ever tiring. At this time, Adam’s mental acuity evolved even further. He began to demonstrate mild telepathic and telekinetic capabilities and once used these powers to save the life of a fellow college student named Betty.
Adam grew concerned over his seemingly limitless abilities and confided in a science professor named Emery Zackro. Zackro was a scientific genius who had secretly developed the world's first one-man space rocket. He tested Adam's talents at length and deduced that Adam was a mutant, born with physical and mental capabilities 100,000 years ahead of his time.
Adam could not keep his abilities safely hidden for long. In 1951, a global catastrophe took place, which forced Adam to reveal himself to the public. A space-faring alien race known as the, Astur, had traveled to Earth in the hopes of terra-forming the planet, making it inhabitable for their kind. They stationed their mother ship on the far side of the moon and delivered several large spinning tops to the planet's surface. The Astur could not survive in an oxygen-rich environment, so they used the tops to siphon away the planet's oxygen.
Calling himself Captain Comet for the very first time, Adam donned a space suit and oxygen tank (not knowing he could survive in space) and intercepted one of the tops. He ripped into the side of it and discovered that the machines were operated via remote control. He traveled to the far side of Earth’s moon where he discovered the Astur mother ship. On board the ship, Adam encountered a solitary alien pilot, named Harun. The rest of the Astur crew slept in suspended animation, awaiting the day when they could live again on an airless planet. Like Adam, Harun possessed an advanced intellect and the two decided to settle their differences through a contest of strategy. Adam ultimately won their mental duel, but Harun was determined to defeat him regardless. He attempted to revive his brethren only to discover that the entire crew had died in suspended animation several years ago. Driven to despair, Harun abandoned his plan for global conquest and took his own life by jettisoning himself out of the ship's airlock. Captain Comet found the remote controls operating the lethal tops and reversed the controls, returning all of the stolen oxygen to the planet.
Captain Comet returned to Earth and reported that the planet was now safe from the alien threat. Reports of his deeds reached every major newspaper and radio program across the globe and Captain Comet became an international hero.
Using the advanced abilities at his command, Captain Comet pledged himself towards aiding humanity, but was cautious to keep the truth about his mutant heritage a secret from the general populace.
Eventually, Captain Comet, tired of the limitations off Earth's collective knowledge and of the feelings of solitude that continued to plague him, feelings accentuated by his slow aging, departed for space to explore new life, and Earth would not seem him for over 30 years.
Over the next 30 years Captain Comet traveled the galaxy in search of his destiny, gathering information about countless extraterrestrial races and battling injustice on a host of alien worlds. At some point, Capt Comet stumbled across Dagon-Ra, a slave trader and interstellar criminal from the planet Trom. Comet held Dagon-Ra's men at bay with his powers of telekinesis, super-strength and invulnerability, but was no match for Dagon-Ra himself, who could transmute elements at will. Dagon-Ra subjugated Comet, imprisoned him, and tortured him for amusement.
Capt Comet was finally freed after G’nort, a Green Lantern, killed Dagon-Ra and freed all of the slaves. Capt Comet traveled the galaxy with G’nort for some time, and then finally decided to head back to his home, earth. The year was now 1983.
Captain Comet again joined the ranks of the superheroes. He became a member of the JLA, which was fairly new at the time. He helped battle the Secret Society of Super-villains. After only a few short years, Captain Comet disappeared again.
This time Captain Comet left earth in order to let the age of heroes continue. Many heroes were starting to surface, such as Superman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and the Flash (Barry Allen). He felt that if he stayed he would not allow the heroes to grow. He still felt out of place because of his vast experience traveling the galaxy. Captain Comet left again and traveled the galaxy as a protector. He spent a majority of his time on the enormous space station called Hardcore Station. Here he hired himself out as a mercenary and hired telepath.
Over 20 years had passed and Captain Comet is found trying to protect the planet Vardu from the Stygian Passover. During the battle Captain Comet broadcasts his thoughts concerning the Stygian Passover over a distance of five light-years. He gives a full description of the Stygian Passover in order to better prepare other planets in defending against them. Captain Comet and his soldiers then fall in battle and are captured. Two Green Lanterns intersect his call and come to his aid.
With the aid of the two Green Lanterns, Captain Comet is able to stop the Passover. After the battle, Captain Comet learns that earth has indeed changed and has some well-regarded heroes now. Furthermore they have advanced technologically and philosophically. They also inform him that earth has many powerful adversaries. Captain Comet then decides to head back to earth and see if he truly feels welcomed.
When Captain Comet heads to earth, he immediately gets involved with the JLA, on a critical mission with Martian Manhunter. Black Adam, along with his allies, broke into a Nuclear Missile bunker and stole multiple nuclear warheads. After a struggle, the JLA had to initiate a recall, where they formed a quick squad in order to once again seek out Black Adam and his new team. The encounter proved catastrophic when two people were killed; Super-Chief, a new member of the JLA, and Isis, Black Adam’s wife.
The JLA had to retreat after one of their own teammates, Mary Marvel, switched sides and joined up with Black Adam. One warhead was never recovered or destroyed, and Black Adam took it with him to Khandaq, claiming it as a means to defend his country.
Captain Comet decided once again to leave earth. He ran into the intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo, where he joined up with the Main Man on a few missions.
Comet then traveled to Almerac, the home world of Queen Maxima, the new wife of Lobo. Comet entered a tournament, where he won, and earned an evening with the queen. The evening turned for the worse, when Comet and Maxima had some inner connection and nearly committed an adulterous act. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Lobo returned just in the nick of time, and Comet left the planet in a hurry, putting away his feelings and once again traveling the cosmos as a protector.
Having had many visions of an impeding attack on a nearby sector, Comet traveled around, and ran across an invasion by Mongul Jr. Comet defended the sector by challenging Mongul to 1 on 1 combat. After a fierce battle, Mongul was defeated and forced to leave. Comet was invited by the New Gods to New Genesis to receive an award. During the award ceremony, Comet once again ran into Queen Maxima, who was not happy to see the man that had tarnished her honor. However she was there in order to request help for Almerac, which had been devastated by a gang of galactic space pirates.
Maxima was ridiculed and laughed at, and the procession angered Comet. Comet told Maxima that he would personally see to it that Almerac was brought back to glory; that it would become the beacon of prosperity to the entire galaxy. He kept his word, and returned to Almerac with Maxima. His then delved deep into his mind, coming up with a new infinite power source and matter replicator that would indeed turn Almerac into a utopia.
During the journey to gather supplies, Comet and Maxima were attacked by Mongal, the sister of Mongul Jr. The fight was intense, and in a moment of desperation, Comet jumped in line of a mortal attack aimed for Maxima, and found his own life taken. Before he died however, he gave Maxima all the knowledge she needed in order to continue with the plans for Almerac.
Maxima jettisoned Comet’s body from her ship into a nearby sun, wishing the warrior an eternity of happiness in the afterlife. She continued on her mission and began the process of returning Almerac to prosperity.
The truth behind Adam Blake
Adam Blake had grown up thinking he was a mutant, a man born a 100,000 years ahead of his time. He thought that a comet that flew over during his birth had triggered his metagene.
This, however, was completely wrong… but yet some truth was mixed in.
Adam Blake was not born a 100,000 years before his time, he was born a 1,000,000 years in the future and sent back in time.
He was born over a thousand millenniums in the future, a time called the Billennium. The technology of the Billennium works within wholly different paradigms to that of contemporary science. The normal laws of physics have been broken and refined over three hundred times. The universe is a wholly different place.
The people of that time have managed to master time and all its permutations. They have the technology, the Probability Citadels as they call them, to monitor and reconstruct temporal disturbances. They can stop timelines from diverging. They can control the ripple effects of time. In that time, sentient beings are the masters of time, space and all things in-between.
There were no more races. Almerac was no more. Humanity was no more. Genetic modelers have discovered the key to integrating the DNA sequences from all races into one cell structure. It took many years and some bloody conquests, but there is one race throughout the space/time matrix of the Billennium, called the Amalgam.
The Amalgam now share the most useful genetic material of all races - the creativity of humanity, the psionic power of the Titanians and Almeracians, the energy control of the Tamaraneans and Braalians, the intellect of the Coluans, and even the regenerative powers of the Czarnians…plus so much more. There is no mankind, only what many would call, Godkind.
With this power, the Probability Citadels were constructed, they also opened the way to new research and the development of dimensional engines. It was decided that the planets did not need to be stationary; indeed, the Amalgams did not need planets at all. The planets were destroyed and there minerals and component parts were used to create a vast Sphere Ship. There were ten of these Sphere Ships that now tour the dimensions, the timelines and the alternate universes.
As stated, Adam Blake was an Amalgam. He had always been an Amalgam. He was not born a 100,000 years ahead of his time… he was actually born a million years in the future.
He was Adam Blake, an agent of the Trans-Temporal Enforcement Agency, based at Citadel #254. He was the agencies top sentient. He had been hand-picked from a million applicants and a thousand time streams to take part in the Agencies most dangerous mission.
Adam had been asked to sacrifice himself in order to save time, and all the time streams.
Even though the Amalgams could control time, manipulate the timestreams and even heal them, there were pockets of time where they had lost the battle… the early 21st century was one of those times. It was a blank spot that they could only guess about from the periods before and after it. Without that information there was no way for them to heal this part of the time stream.
The Amalgams needed someone to go into the time stream and enter the period that they had lost and survey it. They needed someone who was willing to experience everything about the period and then report it back to us. That sentient was Adam Blake.
However they could not give Adam his full spectrum of Amalgam powers because his knowledge and power would have made things too easy and it would have skewed the data. It would have not given them the information they needed. They needed him to act as one of them, with no knowledge of who he was. He was sent back in time, as but an infant, and given only a fraction of his power.
Furthermore they had made him isolated from the time stream. His actions would not be liable to cause fractures….so they thought.
They were wrong. For once, the god-like one-race had been wrong. Something unexpected happened. Adam had subconsciously brought forth more of his Amalgam power. He used it… used his knowledge to advance the Almeracian race. He gave them technology that would make them greater than anything in the galaxy. This action, him giving himself more power, and altering the Almeracian race so much, caused time to change, and the temporal rip that he had been sent to correct became greater than it had already been.
This was when Adam Blake had died, at the hands of Mongal.
After his death, and his body was jettisoned into a sun, he once again subconsciously accessed more of his Amalgam powers. He regenerated continuously as he floated inside the sun. He floated in the sun for months, a continual cycle of burning and regeneration…until finally he telepathically, or clairvoyantly, learned of the Khund attack on Almerac.
Adam shot himself out of the sun and was put on a course to Almerac. He crashed into the planet, landing with no memory of who he was or where he had been.
He had access to more of his power than he ever had before, and used it to battle against the invasion felt. During a battle with the Khund Warleader, he consciously accessed more of his Amalgan powers. The Amalgams tried to stop him but could not. The temporal rift of the 21st century was nearly 100%, and they were losing their ability to make contact with him.
But that is what they did. The Amalgams sent forth an image into his time; into his mind, finally explaining who he was. Adam finally learned everything there was to know about himself.
The temporal rift could complete its tear at any time, and when it did, they would completely and totally lose contact with their Amalgam brother forever. They had taken his memories, only leaving the memories he needed. His memories of his time in the 21st century could be used and studied. They could possible learn what caused the temporal rift in the first place.
They had come in contact with him finally, because they wanted him to give back his power. They had tried to take it themselves, but his will was too strong. They knew that if he took more of his power…all of his true power, he could change reality in the 21st century forever. They needed to take it before the rift tears forever. They had no option of bringing him back to the Billennium, for the temporal rift was too large. Adam Blake was stuck in the 21st century forever.
Adam couldn’t give up his power. He was in the middle of a war. The Khund, let by Mongul, would totally annihilate Almerac. He needed his power in order to stop them. He was only as 75% of his power, but he knew that it would be enough. He didn’t need to take any more, but he couldn’t afford to give any back.
So Adam force out the contact with his people and used his current power to destroy every ship of the Khund Fleet. The power expenditure was the last step of the temporal rift, and he felt himself lose contact with his people forever. He was permanently changed; his powers increased and his memories taken, but he had saved Almerac and its people.
Now Captain Comet is looking for his place again, finally knowing his real origin, and is searching and helping those in the galaxy as their protector.
Characteristics
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 200lbs
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Brown
Age: Unknown (appears to be in his upper 20’s)
Personality: Since Adam Blake has lost his memories of his time before, his personality has changed slightly. He now knows who he is, as well as what he was before coming to the 21st century. This has made him more of a soldier, and he no longer has the same type of ethics as he had before, having already shown that he is capable of killing, when he destroyed over a 1000 Khund ships, killing literally thousands of Khund warriors.

- Calm: Regardless of the situation, even in the face of danger or death, Adam keeps his cool with a calm collected head, seemingly relaxed no matter how bad a situation may seem. This relaxed demeanor comes through in social situations as well, as Adam is sometimes the last to react to someone attempting to get under his skin, merely allowing them to try while he ignores it. In many ways his calmness can be attributed to his fearlessness and love of danger, and with his many years of experience in the hero business, plus having already faced death, and his intergalactic travels, there's very little he hasn't seen or dealt with before.
- Charismatic: Defined as a personal magnetic charm, appeal, or magic of leadership arousing special popular loyalty or enthusiasm in a public figure, charisma is something Adam has in spades. Ask those who know him, that even if they started off not liking him at all and only later formed a working relationship with him, at this point they'd follow him to hell and back if he asked them to. He understands people, he makes a point to try and get to know them, to find out their concerns and to listen and connect with them -- and he honestly cares, and makes it plain that he does. Ever encouraging, Adam is a stand-up guy and people know they can count on him in times of need.
- Determined: Adam’s one of those people that once he puts his mind to something, nothing can deter him from that path - except reason of course, since Adam is a reasonable man. But if Adam truly believes he's doing the right thing and sets his mind to accomplish something, he'll overcome anything that stands in his way, relentless in his dedication. If anything, his determination stems from his willpower, and Adam’s willpower is the stuff of legends, so too is his determination and persistence when he wants something.
- Dry Humor: Not a prankster or a joker, generally, Adam tends to display a very understated sense of humor; dry amusement, wry statements, quiet irony, and occasionally really pointed sarcasm; that's the route he usually goes. He can appreciate a good joke as well as anyone, and groans good-naturedly at other people's wretched puns, and doesn't get offended at practical jokes...but he doesn't venture any himself.
- Fearless: Adam is perhaps one of the most courageous and brave people around, the traits all going hand in hand for if one does not fear anything, one is courageous and brave regardless of what horrors or dangers lie ahead. Much like his willpower, Adam’s fearlessness is nigh on absolute, nothing on Earth or beyond the stars can put even a hair of fear into the man. Even in the most dangerous of situations, Adam’s courage and bravery constantly come to the fore front and make him an example of sorts to other heroes, something Adam is aware of and therefore makes no effort to hide since it is who he is.
- Forgiving: Second chances -- and sometimes fifth and sixth chances -- are the name of the game. Adam is willing to give just about anyone the benefit of the doubt, and if there's a transgression or betrayal that's against him alone, he'll continue to forgive the wrongdoer as many times as it takes until they stop doing whatever it is. Now mind, this doesn't mean he'll trust them, necessarily, but he won't hold it against them.
- Heroic: From the very beginning of Blake’s life he was brought up to always do the right thing, and in a way that describes what heroism is - doing the right thing regardless of the risk. No matter the situation or who he's worked with, Adam has always done what he felt was the right thing, the best for all. He has always been somewhat of a hero's hero, someone who others looked up to and turned to for guidance in their costumed lives. Regardless, being heroic is a part of who Adam is.
- Independent: Comet has always been obsessed with the idea of freedom. Not just freedom in the broader sense of his basic rights as a sentient being, but he has always wanted to be free of anything that would tie him down in any one place. A wander by inclination, always moving on to the next challenge, this desire wound up destroying his life somewhat, despite his best attempts to keep the ties that didn't make him feel bonded.
- Man of his word: Adam is a reliable sort of person, as they say a 'man of his word'. If he says he'll be somewhere, that he'll do something, that something will happen, rest assured that will be the case unless it's impossible to get done and even then Adam will give it his best shot at making it happen. The only time Adam makes promises is when he knows he can keep them, and so far in his life there have been very few promises he's been unable to keep.
- Open Minded: Being able to accept people for who they are, regardless of their quirks, regardless of their problems, requires one to be open-minded, and such is a fairly good description of Blake. Given his rather abruptly-changing life, Blake has had to be open-minded, especially given his abilities. He is not one to be critical of others for how they conduct themselves unless the manner in which they conduct themselves is immoral or deeply against his values. Blake wiill maintain an open-mind throughout a situation because it aids him in gaining a better understanding of the situation. Such is the key to resolving conflict.
- Perceptive: Adam is both perceptive and observant. He watches; he watches people and situations very carefully, always weighing and judging and calculating what's present and what's needed, always taking mental notes on abilities and wants and personalities and tendencies. There're always comparisons and contrasts and cross-references and judgment calls going on in his head, and as a result, he's almost always on top of things, able to predict likelihoods in tense circumstances and unstable relations. It's part of what makes him a good leader, and it's part of what makes him able to pinpoint just what needs to be said or done, and when.
- Wise: Adam possesses wisdom of an individual who has seen many years come and go. It is a stark contrast to many of the younger members of the Super Hero community. His wisdom betrays his apparent younger age, even when his age is not wholly realized. Adam can be looked upon to spout a word of advice or cautionary statement in the face of a task or metaphysical hurdle. Adam’s wisdom and advice directly lead to a perception of leadership and stability among the a group, and among Superheroes.
