History
Jaime Reyes was a relatively normal high school student from El Paso, Texas. His father ran a garage, his mother was a paramedic, and his little sister was a brat. Jaime hung out with his two best friends Brenda and Paco, the mediator between the hard-working Brenda and the laid-back Paco. By both Brenda and Paco's accounts, he was a good friend, the kind of person who could let them be themselves, and who could always make things better. Jaime aimed to help his father out at the garage, but Ernesto turned him down, not wanting to see his son grow up too fast.
Everything fell apart with the onset of the Infinite Crisis.
Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle, had died at the hands of Maxwell Lord, Black King of Checkmate. Before his death, however, Ted had come into possession of the Blue Beetle Scarab, which had given Dan Garrett, the first Blue Beetle, his powers; it had been presumed destroyed early in Ted's superhero career, but was discovered intact in a pyramid in the Middle East. Ted lost the Scarab on a visit to the Rock of Eternity, home of the wizard Shazam. The Rock of Eternity was later destroyed in mystical battle between Shazam and the Spectre, its contents blasted across the world. The Blue Beetle Scarab came down in El Paso, fire and portent in its wake.
Jaime discovered the Scarab on the way home from school with Paco and Brenda, half-buried in a disused lot. He took it home, curious as to what it might be. That night, the Scarab came alive, and grafted itself to the base of Jaime's spine, inducing strange dreams in Jaime.
Booster Gold sought Jaime out, and took him to meet Batman. Booster had been to the future, where he had learned that Batman would seek out Brother Eye and fail - but he had also learned the Blue Beetle Scarab was the one thing capable of seeing Brother Eye.
Jaime went into space with Batman and his team. The Scarab saw where Brother Eye was hidden, and pulled the rogue satellite back into reality. Jaime, together with Black Canary and Green Arrow, destroyed Brother Eye's dimensional stabilizer, preventing it from escaping outside reality again. Once Batman's team had sent Eye plummeting Earthwards, the Scarab shunted Jaime outside dimensions itself, seeking to escape the Green Lanterns on the spaceship.
Unfortunately, the chaos of the dimensional stabilizer's destruction dilated time for Jaime. As far as he knew, he'd only been outside dimensions a couple of minutes; on Earth, however, a whole year had passed.
The next thing Jaime remembered, he had come down in the desert outside El Paso, and Guy Gardner was trying to kill him. Once Guy realized he was fighting a kid, he broke off the fight, but not without promising Jaime he would be back.
Jaime eventually managed to find his way back home, only to discover his year-long absence. In that time, his father had been crippled, forcing him to walk with a cane, Paco had teamed up with a magical metahuman gang called the Posse, and Brenda had been taken in by her aunt after her abusive father died in a DUI.
Jaime's attempts to learn more about the Scarab led him to the Posse - and involved him in their conflict with El Paso's resident crimelord, La Dama, as she sought to bring the magical metas of El Paso under her control. Together, Jaime and the Posse launched a raid on the 'camp' where La Dama was holding her collection of magic-metas, only to find most of them were happy where they were. However, the Posse managed to convince a good half of them that they could return to their ordinary lives, promising the Blue Beetle would defend them. La Dama had no choice but to accept this, or risk facing her guests' 'objections'. Jaime and La Dama made a reluctant truce - both knew the other's secret identity, and could make it public whenever they chose.
Jaime initially believed the Scarab was a mystical artifact, up until Peacemaker arrived, revealing that it was a piece of extraterrestrial technology. Jaime's search for more information took him back to where he'd crash landed in the desert, in an attempt to find out about his missing year. He then headed out on Dan Garrett's trail, looking to find out what the first Blue Beetle had known about the Scarab.
However, it was Jaime's investigation into a cattle mutilation outside El Paso that would provide his biggest lead on the Scarab. His confrontation with the monstrous creation responsible led him to the Reach, the alien civilization who had created the Scarab and left it on Earth.
Jaime discovered that the Reach were galactic conquerors, who planned to add Earth to their list of conquests. Initially, the Scarab had been programmed to be obedient to the Reach, and to subordinate its host's will to them as well. The Reach had intended to present the Scarab's host as Earth's protector, before moving to establish their influence over the planet.
However, during the centuries the Scarab had spent on Earth, it had been infused with magic, the magical 'corruption' preventing the Reach from controlling it. With Jaime's assistance, it had started to develop free will and independence, overriding the Reach's deepest programming.
Nevertheless, the Reach still intended to take over the planet, even without the Scarab to help them. As far as the rest of the world was concerned, the Reach were peaceful 'galactic traders'. Their secret bases and technology were hidden away, out of phase with the rest of the world, and Jaime was the only one who could see them.
Seeing Jaime and the Scarab as the biggest threat to their plans, the Reach attempted to eliminate them through the use of deniable agents, including Earth's super villains. Jaime, meanwhile, turned to the superhuman community for assistance, looking for help in confronting the Reach and exposing their plans.
Worried that the Scarab might still be a threat, Jaime sought help from the local branch of S.T.A.R. Labs. An encounter with Livewire, who was being assessed there at the time, triggered a strange reaction in both Livewire and the Scarab, resulting in a fight. Superman put a halt to the battle, and helped to reassure Jaime about himself and the Scarab.
Jaime also assisted Traci Thirteen in foiling Eclipso's attempt to kidnap a baby with great magical potential and use it as a new, uncorrupted host. During the course of the adventure, Jaime and Traci developed a romantic interest in each other, eventually making out in the aftermath of Eclipso's defeat. How the relationship will develop from here remains to be seen.

Unusual Features:None
Personality:
Jamie: When Jamie is not out with Static saving the world from the villainy that taints the streets, he is a normal young adult who spends his time studying and researching different topics that pertain to his work as a superhero. After his fathers death two weeks after he graduated from high school, Jamie has stopped letting people know of his powers as the Blue Beetle and thus the knowledge of his true identity has faded from existence, this was a result of his withdrawal from the public eye as a dominating persona. Jamie has settled as a person as is much more relaxed with who he is then he was previously.
The Blue Beetle: The Scarab has another persona that is not unlike that of Jamie. The Scarab like to be the one in the background and is in no way a dominating personality in Jamie's life. The Scarab limits his effect on Jamie's life to that of an adviser and keeps most of its knowledge to itself sharing with Jamie only that information that is 'Need to know.'
Powers
Known Powers:Jamie has no known powers that cross over from the scarab other then the ability to see extra-dimensional objects. Although Jamie has none of these abilities he can control them and analyze what the scarab tells him about certain things. (due to the Scarab’s ability to tell him information about anything he has encountered before)
Known Abilities: The Blue Beetle scarab is grafted onto Jaime's spine, and can manifest a number of powers at its own volition, which is usually accompanied by blue energy emitted by the scarab's "antennae".
Over the course of the first year of his ongoing series, Jaime had little, if any, control over those powers, but slowly began to assert himself over the suit after this first year. When Jaime is in danger, the scarab activates, crawling out on to Jaime's back and generating a high-tech suit of powered armor around his body. When the danger passes, the scarab deactivates, dissolving the costume and retracting back onto Jaime's spine, causing intense pain.
When in use, the suit can reconfigure itself to produce a number of different armaments:
-Energy Cannon
-Sword and Shield
-Grappling Hook
-An advanced satellite
-A set of large powered blades attached to the hands, over a foot in length, that can shear through tree trunks
-A set of dual-purpose wings that not only allow Jaimie to fly, but can also be brought around in front of Jaime to act as shields against projectiles and energy weapons, such as the energy of a Green Lantern ring.
The suit can also produce energy discharges from the hands that can neutralize magical spells.
The scarab is also capable of negating the "vibrational frequency" of extra-dimensional objects, bringing them into this dimension.
The suit has been observed to create armaments of different composition and style. The wings, for example, were initially composed of the same blue opaque armor of which the rest of the suit is comprised, but beginning with Blue Beetle #12 (April 2007), they began manifesting themselves in the form of a colorless, translucent material. Whether this is due to changes in the suit's capabilities, or Jaime's intent has not been made clear.
The suit is capable, through some unspecified mechanism or process, of compensating for the digestive system of Jaime's body, so that he does not need to expel waste materials when the suit is in use.
The scarab has at least one power it can manifest whether dormant or active; it can give Jaime a peculiar form of "sight" to perceive extra-dimensional objects. This sight is apparently intended to give the scarab's user information on what they're facing, but Jaime is presently unable to understand the scarab's written language. The scarab is able to communicate with him in a more comprehensible fashion if need be.
The scarab also apparently has the ability to track anything or anyone it has previously encountered.
The scarab's bond with Jaime is vastly different from the previous Blue Beetles. When Dan Garrett spoke the magic phrase "Kaji Dha!", the scarab would grant him the powers and costume of the Blue Beetle - albeit not Jaime's costume. Ted was never able to use any of the Beetle's powers. The scarab never physically bonded with either of them.
Strength Level:Jamie has the powers of a normal human being, but the scarab’s armor is impervious enough that it can protect Jaime against atmospheric re-entry from Earth's orbit.
Weaknesses: The scarab appears to be unwilling to harm nature, as evidenced in Blue Beetle #4, in which Jamie was attacked by a pair of animated, anthropomorphizing trees, and attempted to defend himself, only to be told by the suit, "We won't damage nature". He is almost killed as a result of this, until he convinces the scarab that his life is in danger and wrests control over the suit. Jamie destroys the trees, though the scarab continues to express its displeasure at the destruction.
The Scarab is also weak to intense sound, when he encounters a minimal amount of high pitched sound (12,000 hz about of that of a ringing bell at close range) gives him a small headache and as the sound increases so does the intensity of the headache. When the sound reaches that of ultrasonic (about 20,000+hz) it will make the suit retract back into Jamie's spine, and Jamie will experience extreme headache's that could cause him to pass out.
Jamie's personal weaknesses include that Jamie is human and is susceptible to anything that a normal human is. Plus the fact that the suit only appears out of its own will and Jamie only has limited control over its appearance.
If the suit is against something that Jamie wants to do it may or may not oblige to his wants. Albeit that Jamie has gained control of the Scarab and can now communicate with it but, he can run into the issue of disagreement, not unlike any normal human relationship.
Due to the fact that is father was killed by gangsters, he feels a certain hate that is indescribable towards them that could be a problem in the future. He finds it specifically hard to deal with them justly.
One of the main faults of the Blue Beetle is that he has only limited battle time against the hardened criminals of Gotham City. This is a problem because he may not know how to deal with some of the more elaborate tricks of the real criminals.
Misc (optional)
Equipment: The scarab, which can generate several different types of objects. (The full extent of this suits power has yet to be revealed in the comic series)
Transportation:Jamie has no main method of transportation but lately he has been driving a blue ’69 Firebird that he was given upon his fathers death. But when using his suit he can fly.
Weapons: (As noted in the ‘Known Abilities’) When in use, the suit can reconfigure itself to produce a number of different armaments, including an energy cannon, a sword and shield, a grappling hook, an advanced satellite of some sort, and a set of large powered blades attached to the hands, and a set of dual-purpose wings that not only allow Jaimie to fly, but can also be brought around in front of Jaime to act as shields against projectiles and energy weapons, such as the energy of a Green Lantern ring.
