History
Batman's first meeting with young Jason Todd was when the youth had attempted to steal the then parked batmobile's tires and sell them for money. Batman turns him over to a school for troubled youths, that is really analogous to juvenile hall, however he is able to assist the Dark Knight in the apprehension of street toughs some time after and earns the mantle of robin from Dick Greyson thereafter.
While he wears the costume of the robin, he is worlds apart from Dick Greyson. He had the natural athleticism, and a good bit of brawler experience, but none of the aerobatics ability the young flying grayson had come to Wayne Manor already possessing. But he was an unbridled fountain of rage and hate, a life on the street had made him a manner of tough Gotham's knight wasn't accustom to dealing with, Bruce was confident it could be a great asset and weapon to him, who had comparable passion to fighting crime than the rest of the bat family.
This passionate rage proved to be a double edged sword for Jason though, for as his rage gave him immense drive, strength, fortitude and courage, it made him reckless and impulsive, his hard headed personality to top this off would eventually lead to him taking risks that were unnecessary even for his line of work. Often when he would be sent on a sting to do research and surveillance, he would attack and apprehend, sometimes ruining months of planning.
Worst of all, and most contrary to the batman, is his use of lethal and excessive force to subdue criminals, it is implied he kills criminals who escape justice and the law through loopholes and technicalities.
Be that as it may, Jason is considered by all to be good hearted, and driven in his cause, even by Dick Greyson's own admission he may have been the better Robin and more dedicated crime fighter. After an excursion to find his family, who he's lead to believe may be Lady Shiva, and subsequent training by her, he is killed brutally by Joker, who bludgeoned him near to death with a crowbar, and then left the building he was in to explode.
Batman would subsequently put Jason's costume into a display case in the cave, it would be the only regret he ever had in his life save his idle action during his own parent's slaying, the next family member he couldn't save.
Unknown to the goddamn Batman was that six months later the reality altering events from the Super boy Prime cause the resulting reality altering ripple to resurrect Todd, in his post humorous funerary garb, he is able to cut open his coffin with his belt buckle, and claw his way out of his grave. However his brain damage is severe still and he lapses into a coma only saying the word "Bruce" He was subsequently picked up by Talia Al Ghul, who had recognized him, after a period of street vagrancy, in which he used his seemingly ingrained martial arts abilities to get himself food, clothes, and defend himself from the more violent wanderers of Gotham.
Although he was brought into Al Ghul's society with open arms, after months of training Ras likened him to "A Muscle" he twitched when he was prodded or poked, meaning he was brain dead, but when attacked had enough sense to defend, otherwise he remained without speech or word. Rather than let him live his life in solitude a living corpse, Talia Al Ghul pushed him into the Lazuras pit, restoring him even stronger than before.
She left him with remnants explaining what had happened, the advice to not go to Bruce until after he'd deduced what happened, and the words that he "had not been avenged".
Upon returning to Gotham he found the truth in Talia's words, Joker was still loose, and whats more Bruce made no attempts to avenge him. Jason Todd left America with a mission, he trained with any and all of the mentors of Bruce's, sharpening his skills to a greater degree than he'd thought possible. He returned to America wanting vengeance years later, a man, with a plan against a father who didn't even care enough to see justice served for his son.
the villain Hush would orchestrate a plan to shake batman to the very core, in an attempt to not only destroy the batman, but everything he ever touched. The unique plot itself involves figures that were or are close to the batman, betraying him for the villains involved, from one of his closest assistants, to possibly the catwoman, to Jason. The culmination of the Hush affair happens when Jason Todd, seemingly returned from the grave attacks the batman. In the attack the verbal and physical assault nearly end the Batman, however it's soon revealed to be Clayface, in a serendipitous shock it is in fact, Jason, who switched off with Clayface near the end of the battle.
Upon seeing remorseless eyes in Batman he feels that Batman is his enemy for not avenging his death, all his doubts about batman are laid to rest, he knows what he must do.
He begins by using his own skills, taking up the Red Hood persona he is able to cut a swath in Black Masks organization by stealing a shipment of kryptonite, only to return it thereafter a fight with nightwing and batman claiming he has "a lay of the land" which he truly wanted. Bruce is lead to clues about the new Red Hood's identity when he kidnaps the joker from custody and beats him with a crowbar, as well as leaving a red mask that he'd worn as Robin in the batmobile. His lack of aversion to deadly force and even seeing such force as a necessity is also a clue to the batman, who begins to wonder if Jason ever truly died at all.
His largest grudge outside of the joker and the bat is easily that for Tim Drake, whom he feels replaced him, and from what he'd been told, replaced him and more. This jealousy culminated in him breaking into titans tower, defeating the titans, and forcing Robin to admit he was the greater Robin, before tearing off his insignia.
The crescendo of these revenge strikes comes when he attacks the joker and gives the batman the ultimatum that if he doesn't kill Joker, Jason will, the only way he can save the joker is killing Jason. Luckily, Batman is able to ricochet a batarang off a pipe, injuring Todd.
He began a stint in New York a year later, in which he impersonated Nightwing, nearly killing several criminals in the process, offering to team with Dick Greyson, who of course turned him down spurring his morals over Batmans (somewhat hypocritical considering he'd done nothing to stop Blockbuster's death) After Nightwing saves him from mobsters he informs Dick via telegram that he is back to normal and still considers them family.
Be that as it may he's attacked both the green arrow and Speedy since, however he has also helped clear the Black Lightning's name of murder charges. What part will Jason Todd play?

As such he deeply conflicted concerning the batfamily and Bruce, there is the side of him that sees the dark knight as the father he never had, the batfamily as his family, and there is the side that wants the justice and despises them for their lack of acknowledgment or care in his passing.
Although with extreme training he's come to learn to be more patient and less brash and impulsive, there are times when the old Jason will shine through and a well laid plan will go to hell because he wants to run in and take immediate action.

Through batman he's learned the virtue of preparedness in any situation and as such keeps many a pouch with virtually limitless amounts of useful tools in them that he may at a gesture have at his disposal.

Powers
Known Powers: Enhanced strength, speed, and agility, this may be the after affects of use of the Lazarus pit, for when the batman fought him previously he commented that Jason was better, faster, stronger, with greater skill, in fact "too good".
Known Abilities:
- Martial Arts: As Robin Jason didn't have the ability in the air that Dick Greyson did. He was capable, and more naturally athletic than Bruce as Dick was before him, and had brawling experience due to a hard life on the streets, however he never was able to polish his ability to the level of his predecessor. After his death and rebirth he studied incredibly hard, under many of Bruce's same teachers, mastering many of his skills, as such on their first meeting since his resurrection he disables batman, takes Tim Drake Hostage, and performs aerobatic maneuvers Batman likens to Dick Greysons ability, something he had said years before Jason would be incapable of.
He has fought Nightwing, and Batman to a standstill, and has held his own in a sword fight with Green arrow, all of these feats establish him as one of the greatest martial artists on the planet. - Mind over Matter: Having gone to batman's school of hard knocks, he'd been trained in sciences, linguistics, mathematics, technology, any and all manner of training that would better him on the dark knight's crusade against criminality. As such he is just as keen a detective as the Batman, and his schemes and tactics have been more than enough to throw even the dark knight for a loop.
- Strength Level: As strong as a 180 pound 6' man of his age who engages in intensive physical excesses. This may or may not have been furtherly augmented with his brief submersion into the Lazarus pool.
Weaknesses:
- Violence: Jason is incredibly violent, even for villain's standards he will go out of his way to be violent, and this makes him not very well liked by whomever he may have an already tenuous alliance with.
- Emotionally WRECKED: The slightest word can set a calm Jason Todd off, be it a low baritone of Bruce to send him to tears, or the verbal chiding of Tim drake to set him into a rage he nearly will slaughter any in the immediate area.
- Joker: Jason wants revenge against the joker, he always will from the day the clown prince of crime bashed his skull in with a crowbar to this very day, if the joker is involved, or is even mentioned, no other variables matter, he would give his own life to end the joker's any day, and on several occasions nearly has.
- Bat family: Jason's schemes involve the bat family that he was taken from forcefully those years ago. As such his goals are all involving them to some point or degree, and he keeps tabs of them at all times. Whether this is for good or ill, who knows?
