History
A neurosurgeon by trade, Soranik Natu, like the rest of her race, saw the Green Lanterns and everything associated with them as a symbol of oppression, because the first Korugaran to have been a Green Lantern was the renegade Sinestro. Sinestro, unbeknownst to his superiors, the Guardians of the Universe, who recruit and administrate the Green Lantern Corps, used his GL power ring to enslave his people and rule over them as a dictator. As a result, he was known among Korugarans as “The Wicked.” Although Sinestro’s crimes were eventually exposed to the Guardians by Earth's Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and he was imprisoned as a result, the Green Lantern power ring and logo became to the Korugarans what the Nazi swastika became to the people of Earth. When another Korugaran, Katma Tui, subsequently became a Green Lantern, this did nothing to restore the Green Lanterns' image. Rather, Tui was seen as a monster by her own people for allying herself with them, even after she eventually gave her life in the line of duty, and is known among the Korugarans as “The Lost.”
The Corps suffered devastation when the demonic parasitic entity known as Parallax took control of Hal Jordan, turning him into a psychotic mass-murderer, and killing almost all the other members of the Corps, including all the Guardians but their leader, Ganthet. The ranks of the Guardians were eventually restored by Jordan's replacement, Kyle Rayner, and after the Parallax entity was removed from Jordan, and Jordan restored as a Green Lantern, the Guardians set about to repopulate the ranks of the Corps, searching for 7,200 new Green Lanterns. When Tarkus Whin, the Green Lantern of space Sector 1417 (of which Korugar was also a part) was killed on his first day as a GL after Star 196 collapsed into a black hole, his ring sought out a replacement, and found Dr. Natu in the middle of delicate neurosurgery on her home planet, Korugar.
Natu was horrified at the appearance of the ring, and rejected it, but when her patient’s condition immediately began to worsen before her, Natu, desperate to save him, took the ring, and used it to conjure an elaborate medical apparatus that saved him, though her comrades in the operating room felt that by accepting the ring, she had damned herself. Although she allowed the ring to take her to the planet Oa, which served as the headquarters of the Guardians, she soon left, refusing to be inducted. However, on her way back to Korugar, she was haunted by thoughts of Tarkus Whin, because the rites of death are sacred on Korugar. Her ring took her to the black hole that had been star 1417.196, which sucked her in as it had Whin. She found herself at unknown location devoid of light, and found Whin’s corpse. Sensing that his killers were coming for him, and realizing that Tarkus’ ring obviously was not able to protect him, Natu demonstrated an impressive presence of mind and an ingenious level of creative thinking by swallowing her ring, ordering it to slow her vital processes and store her lifeforce within itself, so that she would appear to be another lump of organic waste to the spider-like creatures that took her. Her brain functions minimal, she remembered ordering the ring to send rescue signals when it was safe, and to respond to nearby power rings. When Kyle Rayner and his fellow Earth Green Lantern Guy Gardner found Natu, she came back to life. Rayner and Gardner convinced her to honor Whin’s memory by accepting the role of a Green Lantern.
Natu, Rayner and Gardner rendezvoused with Corps trainer Kilowog and new recruits Vath Sarn and Isamot Kol, who discovered that the recent rash of stars collapsing into black holes was caused by the subspace web created by the inhabitants of the Vega star system known as the Spider Guild.
Natu again demonstrated her emotional control when, during a battle against a horde of mechanical spiders and a group of bounty hunters, her ring faltered, because of the Parallax Fear Anomaly, which made GL power rings ineffective against anything yellow during times of fear or panic, until and unless the Lantern could muster their courage. With her fellow GL’s power rings depleted in power, it fell to Natu to save them, which she did, by encasing them all in an energy sphere and retreating the Spider Guild’s Nest. Realizing that Oa’s sun was the Guild’s next target, the five Lanterns, along with Lanterns Green Man and Stel, raced back to Oa where the Spider Guild had already begun an attack on the planet, which Natu and her fellow GL's successfully repelled.
Natu participated in the defense of Oa from the onslaught of Superboy-Prime. She helped form the wall of emerald energy that slowed the rampaging Teen of Steel and arrived on Mogo in time to destroy the kryptonite threatening the life of Superman.

Powers
Known Powers: No known superhuman powers that do not pertain to using the Power Ring
Known Abilities:
Strength Level: W/o Power Ring Natu has the strength of a woman who ex cerises if not constantly, daily.
Weaknesses:
-Vulnerability w/o power ring, can be shot/stabbed/blasted/etc.
Limitations of the Power Ring: Distractions can cause a ring wielder to break concentration and weaken the energy construct. Control is needed to wield the power ring effectively. A Green Lantern's mental capacity also affects the workings of the ring. Green Lanterns Guy Gardner and Boodikka once battled the genocidal race of the Ophidians. When chasing the Ophidian star ship, neither of them could catch up to it, for neither of them could comprehend the speed at which it was going. The two Green Lanterns had to combine their wills to overcome the ship.
- Recharging the Power Ring: the Green Lantern's power ring must be periodically replenished for repeated use. While in the past the ring required to be recharged every 24 hours, the current set of rings hold their charge until it has been depleted by the wearer, which typically occurs every twenty for hours with regular use. A Green Lantern can address their ring's AI and request a power check in order to determine whether or not they require to recharge their ring.
The power rings are recharged by the Green Lantern placing their rings into their personal Power Battery and reciting their oath. The Power Battery's themselves can be disguised and hidden by being turned invisible by its Green Lantern owner. - Yellow Impurity: For centuries, the Green Lantern's Power Rings were incapable of working on anything colored yellow. Fear exists on an emotional electromagnetic spectrum as the color yellow, whereas its opposite emotion, pure willpower, is green. However, experienced Green Lanterns, such as those who fought Parallax, are able to disable the weaknesses by feeling fear and overcoming it.
- Psychic Backlash: Despite even the greatest of wills, sometimes a ring construct can be broken. It may seem a mere annoyance to a ring wielder, but in reality it could prove quite deadly. A ring wielder links his/her/itself to the power, a psychic backlash occurs immediately after the disruption of a ring generated construct. The backlash can be very painful and disorienting but leaves no permanent damage to the ring wielder. The real danger to the ring wielder is the split seconds of incapacitation, leaving him/her/it vulnerable to attack.
Misc (optional)
Equipment:
Green Lantern Power Battery;; 24hr Ring regeneration
Hidden in a pocket dimension when not in use.
Transportation: Power rings used for transportation
Weapons:
Green Lantern Power Ring
- Natural Durability and Life Support: When wearing the ring, the wielder has an increased durability and recieves life support functions. This allows the wielder to be about as tough as a iron wall. This can also be increased by surrounding oneself with a force field (found below). The life support function of the ring naturally protects the user from sickness, disease, gases, viruses, etc. Theoretically, a ring wielder could use the ring as his/her/its sole source of life support.
- Energy Constructs: The primary function of the Power Ring is to provide a weapon capable of transforming the wearer's thoughts into physical constructs through the wearer's strength of willpower. A Green Lantern can create any particular items or construct that they can imagine as long as they have the willpower necessary to will it into existence. The constructs are made out of green energy, which is a tangible form of pure willpower, and they exist only as long as a Green Lantern is fueling it with their willpower. Items created by the rings are not indestructible and are only as powerful as the willpower of the Green Lantern creating them.
- Energy Absorption and Projection: By will, the ring cab absorb all forms of energy. This energy is not use to recharge the ring, as only the Power Battery can do that. This energy can be released however. The ring can also project any form of energy as a blast. It can even simulate radiation, including Kryptonite.
- Flight: The Power Ring grants a Green Lantern the ability of flight. Not only is a Green Lantern capable of flight while in an atmosphere, they are capable of traveling through outer space without risk to themselves. While traveling through space, the ring creates a force field around the wearer, which protects them and allows them to breathe normally. The ring also protects the wearer from the hazards of the void of space including filtration of stellar radiation and microscopic particulate matter, which would ordinarily be fatal, should the space debris strike the ring wielder at high speeds. An atmosphere appropriate to the ring wielder's biology is created inside the force field, body temperature is maintained and waste products are removed. Gravitational stresses, which could cause injury, are stabilized for the ring wielder. Flight is possible at velocities exceeding light speed. In atmospheres, air friction is not a hindrance, since heat is either absorbed or reflected by the ring's field. The power ring grants its wearer access to wormholes in space, enabling the ring wielder to rapidly cut time and distance needed for transport.
- Force Fields: In addition to the natural durability that every Green Lanter has, the ring can also increase the wearer's protection be creating a skin-tight force field, seen as a green glow surrounding the Green Lantern. Adding this skin-armor takes a conscious choice, and allows the wearer to take massive amounts of damage. In addtion to the skin-armor, force fields can be expanded to protect others, or separate force bubbles or shields can be created.
- Uniforms: The Green Lantern's uniform is not made out of fabric. It is created by the Power Ring whenever the wearer wills to wear it. It automatically appears over the wearer's normal clothing, and vanishes when the wearer wills to return to their civilian attire. Each Green Lantern is able to adjust their uniform to fit their own needs, personalities and whims.
- Communication: The Power Rings can be used as communicators between Power Ring wearers. Typically a green "hologram" of the Green Lantern you are communicating with appears from within the ring.
- Spirit Travel: Allows the user to separate an "energy self" from the ring-wielder. This energy self can travel billions of times faster than light and perceive surroundings normally.
- Regeneration and Healing: Speeds up the user's natural healing ability 16 times normal, and allows the wielder to heal others.
- Scanning: The ring has a wide range of detection abilities. If it can be conceived it can probably be detected. Most normal electromagnetic phenomena are within the range of the ring, including radio, television, infrared, ultraviolet, and high frequency band communications.
- Dispersal: The Power Ring allows the wearer to pass through certain solid objects, such as walls. Which objects that are not penetrable are not known, but it may depend upon the strength of the wearer's willpower and the density of the object's molecular structure.
- Invisibility and Light Refraction: A ring wielder can render himself invisible by willing the ring to bend light waves around his form, as well as that of the power ring.
- Mind Tampering: As the power ring relies on thought and will to operate, mind tampering is not impossible, the real difficulty lies in properly applying the power. There lies a risk of catastrophic damage to the mind should mistakes be made. A ring wielder can use the power ring to control minds, or even erase portions of an individual's memories. The power ring can also be used to beam information from the ring wielder to another being. Green Lanterns have used this technique to share information regarding their enemies during combat situations.
- Emergency Beacon: A Green Lantern in distress can use his/her/its power ring as an emergency beacon. The alert can be directed to a Green Lantern's neighboring sector, or it can be a Corps-wide alert.
- Homing Beacon: A homing beacon in the power ring can lead one Green Lantern to another.
The power ring can be ordered to disguise itself to elude power ring wielding trackers by willing the power ring to keep their location a secret. - Time Travel: The ring wielder can travel through time, though the further forward in time a ring wielder travels, the more willpower it takes.
- Power Ring Duplication: Power Rings are capable of automatically duplicating themselves. Each duplicate typically shares the qualities and capabilities of the original ring. Their ability to inflict damage is limited because each duplicate still requires to be recharged by a personal power battery.
- Omni-Power: All the above powers are actual the most common uses of the Power Ring. The ring can do pretty much anything, based on the wielder's willpower. For instance if needed, the wearer could fuel his willpower straight into strength. Hal Jordan has done this and was nearly as strong as Superman. Less frequently used capabilities include splitting atoms and manipulating sub-atomic particles (effectively producing new elements), and simulating forms of radiation (such as that emitted by green Kryptonite.
- Artificial Intelligence: Every Power Ring has a connection to the Central Power Battery on Oa which allows the rings to tap into an Artificial Intelligence (AI). The wearer typically interfaces with the AI by addressing the ring verbally, all though it is presumed that the wearer can also silently communicate with the ring through their willpower. The ring can either respond aloud or communicate silently to the wearer.
The Ring's AI has access to a large database of information which can be crucial to the success of a Green Lantern's mission. Upon request, all though occasionally without prompting, the ring provides the wearer with important information pertaining to a given situation and may also suggest a useful course of action.
The AI can also perform valuable scans of the wearer's surroundings. The ring apparently passively scans an area of approximately 100 meters around the wearer at all times and warns the wearer of any potential threats. A Green Lantern can actively command the ring's AI to run a scan of a person, place or thing and to provide information on what it has learned.
The AI is capable of translating nearly any alien language into the language of the ring's wearer.
