History
Early Life
The current Luthor family has a long history with the city of Metropolis. Some of Lex's ancestors were with the Pilgrims who came to the island, and other ancestors of his were among the Native Americans who met them. As the centuries went on, the Luthor family grew in prominence and wealth. Luthor's great-grandfather, Wallace Luthor, was a millionaire steel industrialist at the beginning of the 20th century. An ardent pacifist with dreams of a united society, Wallace was distressed when America was pulled into World War I. He reluctantly agreed to sell his steel for the manufacture of allied ships and weapons. In the stock market crash of '29, Luthor lost his entire fortune. He went to his grave penniless believing that it was divine punishment for his part in the war.
Young Lex Luthor
Somehow, the family fortune was rebuilt by the latter part of the 20th Century, and Lex Luthor was born to Metropolis mogul Lionel Luthor and his socialite wife Letitia. He spent much of his teenage years in Smallville, Kansas, under the care of his Aunt Lena. His parents thought that fresh country air would cure the young Lex of his propensity for acting like he was the smartest guy in the room. However, Lex went on to prove that he was the smartest guy in most rooms, soon becoming head of the family corporation, renaming it Lexcorp.
Luthor the Businessman
Lex turned the company into a multi-national corporation that would ultimately come to dominate the city of Metropolis. Luthor made many criminal connections and industries, anything to help him rise to be the unchallenged master of Metropolis. His legitimate businesses attached to LexCorp stretched from anything from telephone companies to personal gaming devices.
Lex became the most powerful man in Metropolis, both financially and in the world of organized crime. Lex would create havoc on the streets by selling weapons to the gangs of Metropolis and using his primarily female staff of underlings to keep blackmail files on all of the major organized crime groups in the city, so that Lex could use them to further any schemes he had planned. However, this all ended with the arrival of Superman.
Superman Arrives
Several months after Superman first appeared on the scene, terrorists attacked a society gala aboard Lex Luthor's yacht. Luthor observed Superman in action and then tried to hire him as a bodyguard after Superman defeated the terrorists. But when Luthor admitted that he'd anticipated the attack but allowed it to occur in order to witness Superman first hand, Mayor Berkowitz deputized Superman to arrest Luthor for reckless endangerment. Luthor vowed to destroy Superman for this humiliation, and he has since devoted much time and energy to that goal. Luthor was a man driven to be the best, having fought his way up from lowly beginnings by his own (dubious) efforts, and was resentful of how Superman was given his powers by random fate of birth. Superman survived subsequent attempts Luthor made on his life, but had never been able to prove Luthor's role in the attacks.
Kryptonite Power
Luthor soon acquired the only sample of kryptonite on Earth from the Kryptonite-powered cyborg Metallo, whom LexCorp abducted just before Metallo succeeded in killing Superman. Fashioning a ring from the alien ore deadly to Superman, Luthor began wearing it constantly to ward off his enemy. Unfortunately, Luthor suffered from a severe cancer in the 1990s, caused by long-term radiation exposure to his kryptonite ring. (Before Man of Steel, kryptonite exposure had not been thought to be harmful to non-Kryptonian life forms).
Faking His Own Death
Luthor's hand had to be amputated to prevent the cancer's spread, but unfortunately by then it had already metastasized; it was eventually determined that the disease was terminal. Luthor faked his own death shortly afterward by taking his personally designed jet, the Lexwing, on a proposed trip around the world and crashing it in some mountains, using this as cover for the transplant of his brain into a healthy clone of himself which he then passed off as his hitherto unknown, illegitimate Australian son and heir, his deception helped by his new body having a full head of red hair and a beard.
Send In The Clone
Luthor used his new identity as his own son to seduce Supergirl and continue to torment Superman from the shadows. However everything quickly fell apart, when Luthor's new clone body began to deteriorate and age at a rapid rate. This caused Luthor to begin to slip, as Lois Lane discovered proof that Lex Luthor had years earlier murdered a female LexCorp employee and framed an innocent man for the murder. This led Lois to find out the truth about Lex faking his death and being his own son, which caused Luthor to systematically destroy Lois' life and have her fired from the Daily Planet. Lois fought back and with help from Superman, exposed the truth about Lex Luthor, his faked death, and his evil criminal activities to the public. Luthor, right before his body became so old that he couldn't move or communicate, activated a "Doomsday Plan" to destroy Metropolis. The city was burned to the ground and thousands killed as Luthor became a permanent prisoner in his cloned body. However, aid would come in the form of the demon Neron; Luthor promptly sold his soul in exchange for Neron restoring his body to perfect health. Returning to a rebuilt Metropolis, Luthor turned himself over to the police and was put on trial, where he was acquitted of all crimes when Luthor claimed to have been kidnapped by renegade scientists who replaced him with a clone, who was responsible for all the crimes he was charged with.
Luthor the Philanthropist
Lex Luthor had cultivated a popular image as a great philanthropist. He had been instrumental in reverse-engineering alien technology for use in general consumer goods, upgrading Metropolis into a true "city of tomorrow." When Gotham City was destroyed by an earthquake and then abandoned by the American government in the late 1990s, it was LexCorp that took up the massive task of rebuilding the city. Later, Luthor also played an instrumental role in assisting the Justice League in recharging the sun during the Final Night storyline.
Despite his hatred for Lois Lane for temporarily bringing down his evil criminal empire down, Lex Luthor has a unspoken love for Lois Lane. On several occasions Luthor has commented that had Superman not arrived in Metropolis, Lex would have used his time and energy instead to romantically pursue Lois and marry her. The Post-Crisis Lex Luthor has been married eight times, though the first seven marriages occurred off-panel in Luthor's past. While his previous seven marriages were hinted to have based on love (or as close to the concept of love as Lex Luthor understands it) Luthor's eighth marriage to Contessa Erica Alexandra Del Portenza (or "The Contessa" as she was called) was a marriage that was based on mutual manipulation and greed. The Contessa had bought controlling interest in LexCorp after Luthor was exposed as evil, forcing Lex into a marriage with her in order to regain control over the company. The marriage was doomed from the beginning as the two fought constantly and never loved each other. The Contessa quickly became pregnant with Lex's child and began using the unborn child to dominate Lex into doing her bidding. Luthor's response to Contessa's actions was to use her desire to be unconscious during child birth to lock her in the basement of his corporate headquarters in a permanantly drugged unconscious state. Luthor took over as a single father to his daughter (named Lena after his childhood sweetheart) and vowed never to marry again, stating that he wanted to never have to share his daughter's love with anyone else. It was later implied that Lex killed the Contessa months afterword, though no body was ever found.
Luthor President of the United States
Lex became the 43rd president of the United States in 2000, winning the election on a platform of promoting technological progress (his first action as president was to take a proposed moratorium on fossil-based fuels to U.S. Congress in hopes of putting "a flying car in every garage"). Despite Luthor's more villainous traits, he was assisted by the extreme unpopularity of the previous administration due to its mishandling of the Gotham City earthquake crisis. Ironically, Batman would ultimately learn that Luthor was involved in the mishandling of the entire Gotham City rebuilding process, resulting in Bruce to sever all military contract ties between the U.S. government and his company Wayne Enterprises in protest of Lex Luthor's election as President. Luthor responded in kind by ordering the murder of Batman's lover Vesper Fairchild and framing Bruce Wayne for the murder.
An early triumph of his political career was the Our Worlds At War crisis, in which he coordinated the U.S. Army, Earth's superheroes and a number of untrustworthy alien forces to battle the story's villain, Imperiex. However, as it would later be revealed, Lex knew about the alien invasion in advance and did nothing to alert Earth's heroes to it.
Lex Luthor finally accepted Superman's secret identity as Clark Kent which he had been aware of from almost from their earliest meetings but refused to accept for his own personal belief that people of power always crave and reflect themselves as people of power, never as one of the masses, thus to Luthor a being like Superman would never try to pass himself off as Clark Kent who was no one of extreme note. In a story published in 2002, when a lowly scientist was able to get a meeting with Lex and reveal top secret government documents showing the rocket containing baby Superman crashing near the farm of Martha and Jonathan Kent. Killing the scientist, Lex surprisingly decided to keep the knowledge a secret even as Clark Kent took the fall for Lois publishing proof that Lex Luthor knew of the alien invasion of "Our Worlds At War" but had opted not to make any defensive plans to save the people of Kansas from attack. Clark was fired from the Daily Planet as a result of the flap, when another Superman villain, "Manchester Black", used his telepathic powers on an unknowing Lex to allow him to pass an assortment of lie detector tests (including Wonder Woman's lasso of truth) to prove that Lois and Clark's story was a lie. When Manchester Black tried to kill Superman and his friends and family members, Luthor surprisingly came to Superman's aid when Black tried to kill Lois. In the end, Manchester Black was defeated and as revenge for Lex helping Superman defeat him, Black erased all knowledge that Clark Kent was Superman from Lex's mind before taking his own life.
In 2004, Luthor once again overplayed his hand, as his success at framing Bruce Wayne for the murder of Vesper Fairchild caused him to get arrogant. In an attempt to blame Superman for a kryptonite meteor approaching the Earth, he instead raised questions about himself as Superman and Batman uncovered a plot of Luthor's to further torment Batman that involved tricking Batman into thinking that the Superman villain Metallo was the man who killed Batman's parents. In desperation, he used a variant combination of the "super-steroid" Venom (a steroid mainly used by Batman villain Bane), liquid synthetic green kryptonite, and an Apokaliptian battlesuit to battle Superman directly. Unfortunately, the madness that is a side effect of Venom took hold, and he revealed his true colors during the battle. The final straw was the revelation that Talia Head, the acting CEO of LexCorp, had sold all the company assets to the Wayne Foundation. He has since gone underground, leaving the presidency to his vice president, Pete Ross.
Infinite Crisis
Lex Luthor had retreated into recluse before the events of Infinite Crisis, as he prepared to try and activate mind control programming inside the brain of then current Superboy (Conner Kent) (created using Lex's DNA) to help him gain revenge against Earth's mightiest heroes. He also was revealed to have orchestrated, with help from the newly created robotic Brainiac, the murder of Teen Titan member Donna Troy, who is destined to play a critical role in "Infinite Crisis". He's also been carefully surveilling the new Supergirl, and has plans for her involving his newly-acquired black kryptonite.
With Lex Luthor acting in secret, Alexander Luthor, Jr. returned to New Earth and began his own plot that was interfering with LEX's own plans. Assuming the Post-Crisis Lex Luthor's identity, Alexander began an elaborate scheme with help from the erased Earth-Prime Superboy-Prime and Kal-L, the Earth-Two Superman that he wanted to restore the original Multiverse, but his intentions was not just to recreate them as they once were but only as the basis of his ultimate goal, as he told Superboy-Prime Kal-L would help them "whether [he] likes it or not".
As one of the premier reformers of the "Secret Society of Super-Villains", Alexander Luthor, Jr. recruited Black Adam, Doctor Psycho, Calculator, Talia Head, and Deathstroke as his inner circle. The new Society exploited the villain community's fear of mind-wipes at the hands of the Justice League to recruit a literal army of villains under the guise of creating their own "mind-wipe" device designed to erase the memories of Earth's heroes as payback. However, this was just another cover for his even darker scheme involving the kidnapping heroes, each representing alternate earths, to power the giant tower being used to perform a major act of alteration to reality. Alexander Luthor, Jr. formerly of Earth-Three had decided to restore the previously existing multiverse as a base selection to create a so-called "perfect" universe from as the current reality seeemed to be failing and in Alexander Luthor, Jr.'s own words "was a world of villians". Abandoned by his allies, Alex Jr. was depowered, in part due to the villians that Lex assembled under his alias of Mockingbird. Lex tracked down the supposedly depowered Alex Jr and allowed the Joker in a fit of revenge kill Alex.
Lex used Alex's corpse as evidence that he had an imposter who responsible for all his recent illegal activities. He was cleared of many of the criminal actions he was accused of.
Recently
Through his still impressive financial resources, Lex has engaged in a public promotion campaign to regain his popularity through the Everyman Project, a scientific process that could grant superhuman powers to non-metahumans. The first several subjects of his process became the latest incarnation of Infinity, Inc. Luthor's own body, however, was not compatible with the process, a fact which pained him greatly.
No doubt the current Luthor will continue his personal vendetta against Superman and the world at large in his never ending desire to rule it as conqueror as his effective ruling it as administrator during his tenture as United States President was unfulfilling.
Only time will tell his ultimate fate and success in that end goal....

Weapons: In addition to the weaponry on his battlesuit, Lex Luthor has developed a wide array of other destructive devices, many of which he could replicate easily or craft anew. With very little at hand to work with, Lex can clobber together armaments that would even surpass Intergang guns, being on par with some of the most formidable in the universe - stuff that can bring Superman to his knees. Stashed nearly everywhere, a lot of Lex's weapon caches were found out and removed by The Batman, leaving him with precious few hidden arms - meaning to randomly pull out some previously developed gun, he'd have to travel to a specific location just to get it, let alone use it. Yet, it is standard practice for Luthor to stash his weapons all around for easy access and use. Typically, they are energy-related - since that bypasses the defenses of most or overloads them - with enough of a 'kick' to punch through the walls of buildings, explode cars or hurl objects away from him at great speeds. Yet, his potential arsenal is not limited to this as he develops guns that can reverse gravity, flash-freeze objects or people, melt through bank vault doors or even remove friction from surfaces for example.

Currently bald, previously red hair.
Personality:
- Ambitious: Able to plan for the future, Luthor knows there is no limit to what he can achieve as he need only make it happen - having made himself president of United States of America on little more than a whim. Seeing a goal, he pushes through any means necessary to make it become reality, no matter the cost or the harm to others involved. Once seeking simply to own a business, he has surpassed that. Seeking to make his business a multinational force of economic might, he surpassed that. Seeking to be the president of the United States of America on little more than a whim, not only did he achieve this but he strives to surpass it, even now. No matter what, Luthor will -NEVER- stop, always pushing himself to have more, and more and even more.
- Arrogant: Well aware of his mental prowess and potential for success, to say that Luthor is boastful is an understatement. Always seeking to stroke his own ego, Lex goes out of his way to glorify himself, not only in his speech but also his actions. Surrounding himself with art dedicated in his likeliness or not allowing any belittling of his character, anything that Lex can do to openly stroke his own ego he shall do, in extravagance.
- Genius: There is no one smarter than Lex Luthor and he is well aware of this. His brilliance knows no bounds, as he is a tactical mastermind, a manipulator without par and sly and cunning enough to keep both Superman and Batman on their toes. Able to hold conversations on any topic compute vastly complex equations or even to unravel alien technology in a matter of moments, the fortitude of his mind is without limits. This affects the rest of his personality, fueling his arrogance and charging his pride.
- Human: For Luthor, who embraces his humanity wholeheartedly, he not only embodies the height of the human spirit - greed, ambition and survival - but he makes it his doctrine for life. Seeking prosperity for humanity without the aid of godlike aliens or powered entities that do deeds for the 'sake' of mankind, acts that Luthor believes weakens people. Not wishing to be 'enslaved' to the whims of others, especially heroes (who so easily steal glory away from him), Lex lashes out in ways to attempt to bring down non-human figures. In many ways, he gives more credit to his humanity as a strength and motivation than even his genius.
- Manipulative: Lex Luthor is smart. Very, very smart, far smarter than ... well, everyone else. Thus, not only does he see ways in which to control people but he can clearly see the value each have, reading their wants and desires plainly. This makes Lex a master of manipulation - the ultimate businessman, who could sell pianos to the deaf, without even really trying. He has turned father on son, brother against brother. His intellect is able to scheme in plots that span decades, allowing him to foresee where he needs to lead people for proper positions in the future. Lex is always planning, always finding ways to turn people to act to his advantage in any situation.
- Merciless: Void of remorse, Lex Luthor is never one to have any concern for his fellow man when they get in his way or cross his path. Just as he can be loyal to those who are loyal to him, those who raise his ire become targets for his limitless retribution. Lex will go out of his way to scheme means in which to destroy the lives of those he hates, having no regard for the consequences of his actions or any sign of mercy for those he is acting against.
- Resourceful: Never one to be trapped with just his wits to aid him, as sharp and powerful as they may be, Lex Luthor is a master at using what he is provided to the maximum benefit (for himself only, of course). No matter the setting or situation, he can scrape together what he's provided to make something better than what he was given. A master mechanic and inventor, merging together raw materials is more than a hobby for him, as even with the most basic of elements he can clobber together highly advanced gadgetry.
- Respect: Yes, Lex does have it. Even for Superman. In a way, Luthor has a great deal of honor, though it is an honor based solely on respect. Even if you are someone he hates, should you do something that appeals to Lex even on the smallest level, or shows any manner of promise, then he can find means to appreciate that - even against his own will. Someone like Lois Lane, who has constantly gotten under his skin almost daily, is still someone who Luthor has to give credit (and even leniency) to because of admiration for her tenacity.
- Secretive: Even though virtually all of his previous crimes have been exposed, Luthor still has a few tricks up his sleeves, and even more planned each day. Never one to reveal his plans while they are in motion (though he gleefully brags about them just before completing them, to the hero(es) of course), he is a man well versed in the air of maintaining vast, elaborate and numerous secrets. Really, this speaks of a complete lack of trust in his fellow man - no matter how close they may be to him - as he guards everything of value so deeply to himself even a skilled telepath such as Martian Manhunter would be hard-pressed to dig it up. Sometimes, his secrets will go unknown for years, maybe even decades, as Luthor will only unleash them when the opportunity is just right.
Powers
Known Powers: None
Known Abilities:
- Art: Luthor is no artist, as his creative might is directed towards his inventiveness, but he is a lover and appreciator of art. Having studied the classics, in efforts to better refine himself from the squalor he was raised from, he can identify works of art with ease, name classical pieces with but a moment's listening. He enjoys the opera and has even been known to take to ballet, and in his day of public acceptance, he frequented museums and exhibits merely to expose himself to the masterpieces.
- Business: Once having been the second leading businessman in the world (next to Bruce Wayne, the first), there is little about the financial world that Luthor is not intimately aware of. From small to multi-national conglomerates, he has run it all from the ground up, with nothing but phenomenal success as his track record. Even despite his shady dealings or questionable methods, Luthor has always run a very tight and profitable ship, being revered rightfully for his insight and economic oversight. From the top on down, from CEO to hourly, he understands the ins-and-outs of any business, the trends and actions of any market as well as the functionality of money and value (two very separate things). From the paperwork at ay level of business to the politics of permits and the legalities of purchasing all the way on to things such as office supplies... He's had a lifetime of experience with and mastering. Luthor is also very keenly aware of those in the business community and attune to their methods of conduct and interaction. If he is not personally knowledgeable of the person involved, chances are he knows the methods used by the business they work for - which he in turn attempts to use to his benefit.
- Capes: Having dealt with them as a businessman and as a villain who has provoked them to action, Luthor is very much aware of all those out there who might stand in his way, or who he could potentially motivate to some end. Being a part of the caped community, he has made it a point to be aware of who the others are - hero or villain alike - in as much detail as possible. Like an evil Martian Manhunter in some ways, Luthor's knowledge of the other 'players in the game' is rather frightening, as he is never sure what bit of information might be handy to help manipulate whoever. Knowledgeable about only a handful of secret identities, it is more a matter of knowing who is operating where and for what reasons - and who is moving against who, and for what reasons. This is particularly the case in Metropolis, where Lex makes it a point to be acutely aware of those that operate in his backyard. Intimately personal with Superman and his family, there are no villains or heroes in the Big Apricot that he doesn't know about to some lengthy degree.
- Cloning: While others have devoted their lives to the study of cloning, it is a science that Luthor has all but conquered, perfecting it down to the last gene. Able to construct clones of specific design and purpose, ones that even match him enough to fool the super senses of Superman or the scrutinizing eye of Batman, he has also helped to produce such powered monstrosities as Bizarro. Unbeknownst to the public thus far, Luthor also had a hand in the creation of Superboy, mixing his genes into the mix, so cleverly that it has gone unnoticed by many for years. With the proper equipment, there is little he cannot remake - or rather, there is no one that he cannot replace.
- Combat: For most of his developing years, Luthor was never one to get directly engaged in combat as he far preferred to manipulate others into action for him. Yet, over the years he has come to know that direct conflict with those such as Superman are inevitable, requiring him to be prepared to handle himself. In that quest, he has become proficient in all manner of weaponry - most of his own design - and thus is a skilled marksman of most any ranged handheld weapon. A professional with such a firearm, he is more lacking in terms of melee weapons which he wields rather clumsily, as he is far more skilled at the higher-tech devices. He is an accomplished user of demolitions, timed and placed precisely, either in bombs or his favored missles. Most of Luthor's combat skills are aimed at manipulating those around him to do the dirty deeds for him, creating elaborate schemes to plot those who he opposes into traps meant to end the conflict for him. He is not adverse to using poison, or any means of deception to underhandedly win, fighting dirty and completely unfair. Luthor would gas an opponent before striking them, for instance. But when it comes to blows, Luthor has undertaken training from his Amazonian bodyguards, learning their methods of attack and form to better help him in a fistfight. He is not a master by any means, though could be considered a professional level martial artist (though still not on par with any costumed martial artist), with greater skill in the Bana Midgall styles of unarmed combat. He can disable, disarm and has devoted much of his training towards maiming or dealing direct harm to his opponents, over skills such as how to evade or roll with attacks against him. Able to only briefly hold his own with the likes of Lady Shiva or Wonder Woman, he is no match for the likes of Batman of course, though is likely to have the advantage in going toe-to-toe with the brawler Superman.
- Design: Not really a mad scientist, Luthor is far-and-away a mad inventor. Using his scientific genius to fashion his creations, there are no bounds that his constructions cannot reach, should he be given the time to develop them and the resources required to build them. From battlesuits of Kryptonian science to mind-switching devices to weapons meant to disable all technology of the world, once he sets his mind to it, there is little he can't dream up. With most of his work going towards the design of weapons, from small handheld ones to large ones such as those that the LexCorp building really is. From cold fusion devices to long range teleporters or hyper acceleration engines to ceramics able to withstand the heat of the sun to instantaneous cloning devices to nano-technology to mixture of chemical compounds (such as his K-Venom) to ... most anything else, if given the notion or time to develop the thought on his own, there is almost no feat of science, conventional or super, that he cannot design.
- Education: With knowledge far surpassing anything any conventional institution could grant him, Luthor has burned through his academic studies in record-setting time. Earning many degrees from many universities and colleges, from business through science, he is a master in many fields - at least on paper. Craving knowledge and understanding, he hired himself the best of tutors, learning directly from the best economic and scientific minds in the world, gaining from them every facet and every detail possible. All of his work, his creations and inventions, have come to far surpass his now rudimentary education, though that he still has. Far too much a genius to need know how to study, rather he has gained insight on how to research for information most of all, as well as built up a list of 'colleagues' to 'consult' if needed. Yet, his education of the world - and that of what's known beyond earth - is on par with that of Bruce Wayne, though where Batman is far more geared towards control and combat, Luthor is to science.
- Electronics: Devoting much of his genius to machinery, there is seemingly little in the way of electronics that Luthor cannot master. From construction of impossibly refined micro-technology to programming vast arrays of supercomputers to even the reverse engineering of alien, even Kryptonian, technology is done with ease. Working on complex levels of circuitry that far surpass anything used in the most conventional of advanced science labs, his works are greater than even those of the Cadmus Projects or S.T.A.R. Labs. Not a hacker by any means, he is still highly skilled at using computers, able to quickly learn any operating system - even foreign or alien - and then in turn program it to do as he sees fit.
- Inventions: Luthor is a technical genius, one with an amazing aptitude for the mechanical. Able to invent the most mind-boggling of electronic or physical instruments in mere moments with incredible ease, he can craft even advanced pieces from the most crude or simple of elements. With proper time, tools and effort, he can come up with science-defying equipments, ones that push well beyond the boundaries of conventionally known science. Able to build technology that enables flight, teleportation, robots capable of battling Superman, there is little that Lex can't invent. Also, Luthor has a great deal of expertise when it comes to the science of cloning, where not only does he have a great deal of knowledge but also inventive prowess. Coming up with clones of himself or others, he can develop ones of a select purpose or mindset, able to carry out very specific task.
- Mechanics: When it comes to tinkering with machinery or technology in general, there are few that are better than Lex Luthor at either taking them apart or putting them back together again - most often far superior to how it was originally built. A mechanic of the first order, there is little that he can't repair with ease - from cars to toasters to television sets to whole computer systems. He knows how to use all the tools of the trade, and expertly so ... to his advantage or the demise of others. Since he knows just how things operate so well, he also knows the smallest, most refined of ways to make them malfunction should he need, at the expense of someone else. Along with this, his engineering skill is quite off the charts, as there is no manner of mechanics that he can't calculate, design or improve upon. Far above a professional in such fields, all manners of engineering at open to Lex - from mechanical on to people, as he is a master of manipulation, which is all Luthor sees this as - the science of how to manipulate the physical world around him.
- Metropolis: There is nothing about Metropolis that Luthor doesn't know. It's that simple, and that complete. At one time, he owned the vast majority of the city, just as he has come to be keenly aware of the majority of the population, in fine detail. Since the city has been overswept by the futuristic technology, Luthor has gained the knowledge on just how it operates, and how. He knows every building on every street, the systems the city functions on and what each do precisely, and most often how to find select people for select tasks. Easily on par with Superman in terms of knowledge of the whole city of Metropolis, Luthor also has the history of having conquered the place, which he can use to his advantage where and when he needs.
- People Skills: In truth, this is a fancy way to dress up Luthor's ability to 'read' people - to deduce things about them from their mannerisms, facts about them or conduct - to find the means to manipulate people. This logical approach to figuring out someone is aided by his years of experience in dealing with all manner of people, above and under the table, from all walks of life - even a great many alien races as well. He is a very smart man, and one not ashamed to use his intellect to gain the advantage in those around him, lying and being deceptive as possible to gain the upper hand. Lex is very adept in assessing what it is that someone values most, and to find ways - elaborate or simple - to use them with promises of delivering or denying this want.
- Politics: Having served as president of the United States, Luthor has had a rather insightful look at the realm of politics, both federal and international. Already accustomed to dealing with those of other cultures due to his lengthy stay in the business community, this has been heightened by his rather hands-on approach to dealing with his position while in office. Thus, he has been greatly exposed to the greatest aspect of the field, from the craft of drafting legislation to the fundamental processes of any level or function of government. He knows the lingo, the types of business that gets done on Capital Hill as well as in offices or even in back alleys - and who is likely to do what for who, even such as what business is funding what legislation. Lex knows how to 'read' political trends very easily, in America and in other countries around the world, which is aided by his extensive foreign knowledge and understanding.
- Superman: There is nothing about the Man of Steel that Lex Luthor is not intimately aware of…besides his secret identity as Clark Kent. He knows the wonders of the Kryptonian technology, down to even the last specifics of Kal-El's DNA, he knows it all. Luthor has made it his passion to known and understand the alien, in fine print, in every aspect - and he has done so over the years. He knows the Kryptonian culture, almost as well as Superman does, as well as the language and other aspects of the culture. But primarily, he knows about Superman here on Earth, from his conduct to his methods.
- Tactics: Possessing a very analytical and scientifically-oriented mind, it is one that naturally seeks logic and order, to put into sequence and aim to control. This combines with Luthor's experience, both at manipulation and combat, for a great deal of strategic ability. Able to think in very complex and elaborate ways, he schemes better than the best, to coordinate massive plots all into one larger, even greater production of his own designs. Thinking in terms of the future, if not decades ahead, he always carefully plans out every move he makes - either alone or in conjunction with others. Often he will even work off the actions or plans of others, to seek to use them to his advantage - or freely manipulate everyone and everything around him for his pleasure and personal gain.
- Weaponry: Though not an expert marksman or one for combat using firearms, Luthor has a lifetime's experience using weapons of nearly every make or design - especially including his own. Having researched and developed a number of electronic-based weapons when he owned LexCorp, and overseeing programs for many more, he has been exposed from the conventional to the high-end of advanced scientific arsenals. From six-shooters to energy blasters, he's seen it all and can readily identify a weapon generally just from appearance and make-up. Typically, the weapons that Lex is most familiar with are stationary ones, or ones operated remotely - from giant cannons to missiles. Really, the only personal weapon he's trained with is his battlesuit as he has honed his abilities with the onboard arsenal with it to exist as a level threat to trained heroes on a battlefield.
Strength Level: Average for a man of his height and weight who engages in regular exercise.
Weaknesses:
- Arrogance: Knowing himself to be the Smartest Man Alive, Luthor is not ashamed to acknowledge it to anyone anywhere. This taints his actions and most assuredly his speech, as it is impossible for him to not glorify himself or his actions at every opportunity. Unable to not flaunt his genius, his arrogance extends to his own morals as he willfully justifies his ends with his own means. Unable to concede success to others, defeating Luthor only raises his ire, generating a vicious villain bent on revenge as he is unable to allow his mind to have another to have any advantage over him.
- Criminal: Exposing himself to the world in an attempted attack meant to cripple the world's technology, once-president Luthor was impeached and has since been convicted of a number of crimes. With many of these being unearthed by Batman after his acquisition of LexCorp, while the statute of limitations has run out on many of his past crimes, they have all been revealed. Known to have hired, worked with and even lead super criminals to murdering people through schemes or by his own hands, to clones and deception, destroying Metropolis and even more. While it's not reasonable that the common person will be able to rattle off all of the crimes Lex has committed, it is now widely known the depth of illegal and immoral acts he has undertaken over all the years of his life.
- Enemies: For every one of Superman's enemies, Luthor has the same - often because he was the one to create that villain, through rather immoral means. Also, often these shared villains seek out Luthor with more vehemence than the Man of Steel, often for revenge for what he has done to make them the way they are. From Cyborg to Riot to Atomic Skull, or even Mr. Mxyzptlk, they wish to do Lex harm, if not kill him outright. Sometimes he is able to manipulate them into schemes against Superman, but never for long. Lex may well be the most wanted criminal in all the lands, but in his hometown of Metropolis, this is even more so the case with the super criminals there - and surely some others in other cities as well.
- Human: Lex is human, and has all the physical frailties of a human, from poisons, disease, and mortal harm from traditional weapons.
- Superman: For Luthor, there is no question that this alien infection is the antithesis of everything he is and stands for. Having the powers of a god, where everything comes so easily for him - including the love and admiration of people. That ease of nature just appalls Lex, who had to scrape and fight for everything he has ever had. On top of this is the fact that Superman is an alien and to have the Man of Steel's judgmental self-proclaimed martyrdom only raises Luthor's ire all the more. For Lex, it is an insult that people not only embrace this parasite from another world, but they moralize it and seek to model themselves after it - for to Luthor and his genius, he can see just *how* Superman is taking control of Earth, through passive persuasion. Therefore, as Lex knows he is but the lone one to see this, he seeks to rise up against Superman at every opportunity as well as to manipulate the Man of Tomorrow via schemes to attempt to goad himself into acting contrary to his being. Possessing a brilliant scientific mind as well, Superman is the one entity that can truly rival him, or even understand, which breeds a great deal of resentment.
- Temper: Already having a short temper, Luthor is one to go from calm to irate as his emotions can more than get the best of him when riled up. Possessing the world's foremost genius that intelligence is tempered by his unmistakable rage as Lex doesn't get mad - he gets MAD. This has only been heightened by the K-Venom that has now replaced his blood, as it helps his body to mass-produce adrenaline that constantly puts him on an explosive edge. Also, when so fueled by his aggression, it severely dampens his intellect, as he gives way to his more cruel and fist-led impulses.
- Vengeful: Once his wrath has been evoked, there is very little (Lena) that would prevent Luthor from gaining his revenge on someone who has done him harm or, worse yet, embarrassed him in some way. There are no lengths that he won't go to or innocents that he won't jeopardize all for the sake of getting back at whoever it is, friend or ally or enemy, that gets in his way. From there, he will devote his life, ambitions and resources to not just 'returning the favor' or even to 'one up' his target, but rather he'll set out to completely destroy his foe. Lex doesn't let anyone slight slide and rather than be adverse to being grandeous and extravagant in his elaborate plots to cush his target, utterly and completely, he embraces such things - making it entertainment for him, as his plans unfolds.
- Wealth: Having stolen seven billion from the American People at the end of his tenure as President of the United States of America, Luthor is smart enough to have known if he just transferred it to some bank account that someone like Oracle would come along and steal it back, or seize it. Thus, he had the mind to transfer it all to gold, which he has since stashed all over the globe, to 'bury' his new-found wealth - and thus make it almost next to impossible to locate. However abundant this fortune may be, however, since it is solid stashed gold, Lex has to -get- to that stash and then -convert- it back into money before it can really be 'useful'. Thus, it is not all that accessible, and certainly not immediately.
Misc (optional)
Equipment:
- Battlesuit: To aid Luthor in his ability to battle Superman (and others) mano a mano, he has crafted a battlesuit of his own design (and using much of what he has learned of Kryptonian warsuits). Unable to be worn in pieces, as it needs all parts to be properly fastened in place to function, the suit can function in the field of combat as well as an environmental tool, for exploration or survival. Covering all of his body save for the head (though there is a retractable dome for sealing, from gas or glare attacks, as well as for breathing in places like space or underwater), with the central processing unit being in the chest, over the heart. Adding bulk and weight to his mass, the robotic suit is regulated to compensate, outfitted with a network of sensor arrays and computing servos to help increase his reflections and coordination for him.
The onboard computer can track and calculate up to one thousand targets at once, moving the suit for Luthor or aiding him to dodge even high speed attacks (such as from Superman or Wonder Woman, though not like the Flash). The computer also has a global positioning device, a communicator capable of translating nearly every Earth-based language in sound and text as well as remotely interfacing with other wi-fi capable machines in a fifty foot vicinity (subject to all firewalls and other means of protection, of course).
The battlesuit is also capable of augmenting Luthor's natural strength and durability. The suit's structuring and hydraulics allow it to be strong enough to bend steel, toss cars several city blocks, punch through walls or even trade a few blows with Superman. The armored hide is tough enough to withstand normal bullet fire or even conventional explosions, or even upwards of ten blows from Superman, before breaking. The suit can also withstand the temperature extremes of the Earth and beyond, capable of functioning without flaw in the rigors of space or even in molten lava (the latter up to an hour, before beginning to melt). From deserts to artic tundra, or even the depths of the ocean's trenches, the battlesuit handles the pressure and atmospheric conditions, as it also processes oxygen (with up to a two day tank supply) as well as bodily waste/treatment while supplying required nutrients through stem-feeds (again, up to a two day supply).
Capable of flight, the battlesuit can maintain an effortless hover through a system of gyros and graviton manipulation, which when accelerate in one direction to allow it the power of flight. Not fast or highly maneuverable by any means, the suit can reach speeds allowing it to make an orbital entrance or even compensate for a return approach. Finally, the power is able to 'cycle up' its power to store charges allowing it to discharge in the form of energy blasts, either from the palms of the hands or from the center of the chest. Devastating beams, the energy is a green concussive beam capable of smashing through brick or launching vehicles upon contact, or even repelling Superman (if but momentarily). Further, when a sample of Kryptonite is stored within the armor (in a special receptacle in the chest piece), it is able to add that radioactive property to the energy blasts - useful only for when battling Kryptonians (under a yellow sun). - Lab: Though all of Luthor's previous (and well-equipped, mind you) hidden laboratories were uncovered and dismantled by The Batman, Luthor has since rebuilt ... one. Hidden in the most secret of locations, it is... rustic. Nowhere near as advanced as what he once worked with, now little more than clobbering-togethers of scrap metal, it is the beginning from which Lex plans to develop more. He has a working supercomputer, one capable of crunching vast formulas, but is not connected to any kind of grid, so is useless for things such as hacking. He has a workbench, one capable of housing his battlesuit for repairs, but he has only crude power and manual tools to use, which limits any refined circuitry for example he might wish to work on. While his hidden lab is secret, he has no access to the proper equipment or pieces he should wish to use - driving him to a necessity of crime to obtain it.
Transportation: Varies
