History
First training as a gymnast, later in life Harleen Quinzel moved on to different pursuits, becoming interested in becoming a criminal psychologist after seeing the pure amount of crime present in Gotham City. Unfortunately her first real job in psychiatry would also be her last, becoming an intern at Arkham Asylum, where the most dangerous and unpredictable of criminal minds were held for treatment. It was there that she met the man who would simultaneously ruin and rebuild her entire life: the Joker. During her tour of the asylum, she happened to meet the clown prince of crime and was instantly fascinated by him, insisting that she be allowed to analyze him.
They began their sessions soon after, and slowly as the Joker told Harleen about his exploits, his childhood and possible causes for his insane behavior (most of which being blatant lies to simply make him more likely to be released) she began to feel an immense amount of sympathy for him, completely blinded by his stories and "charming personality" to the point that she did not think of him as the monstrous criminal he was; she just considered him misunderstood and a product of parental abuse. As expected, he regularly broke out of confinement and ended up being recaptured by Batman, a constant sequence of events that angered Harleen to no end, as she believed that Batman was truly the one who both caused his insanity in the first place and that he was not making the healing process any easier than it was.
In the end Harleen resorted to breaking the Joker out herself and setting him loose on Gotham, Batman inevitably bringing him back in again and again. These actions were appreciated by the Joker who, at the time, was only thinking of Harleen as his get-out-of-jail-free card. Her own feelings for him began to shift from understanding and sympathy to full-blown love and idolization. Prolonged exposure to the Joker and his outrageous personality began to effect her own psyche, so she began to develop a much more maniacal streak. Her constant attempts to at least temporarily free the Joker did not go undetected by the rest of the Arkham staff, who swiftly took action when they discovered what Harleen was doing. After freeing him once more, she had her license revoked and was herself imprisoned in a cell of her own.
This was the last straw for Harleen, trapped inside the asylum and seperated from the only person who meant something to her anymore. She went even more insane than she had already become, intent on tracking down the Joker and reuniting herself with him. As luck would have it, an earthquake broke out near Gotham City which caused enough of a panic for her to escape. After designing and making herself an elaborate jester costume, she was able to locate the Joker and immediately instated herself as his partner-in-crime, renaming herself "Harley Quinn".
As the two worked together, the Joker began to feel many feelings for Harley that were at first alien to the malevolent criminal. As much as she loved and respected him, he actually found himself starting to return her love. He was afraid that this show of feelings would result in him losing face or having a bad impact on his criminal career, so he hatched a plan to get Harley out of picture since he was unwilling to take the risk. Trapping her inside a rocket ship, he bids farewell to her and launches it in hope that it will free him from her forever. This act was enough to drain Harley of all the love she had for the Joker as she felt as though she had been stabbed in the back by him, but little did she know that deep down she still had feelings for him...
The rocket landed in Robinson Park, where the botanical eco-terrorist Poison Ivy was residing, who took her in at first with the intention to kill her after she recognized her as a doctor from Arkham. At this point Harley had lost the will to live and did not care what Ivy intended to do with her, causing her to instead ask what happened to her that left her where she was. After she told her story, Ivy felt some amount of kinship with who she considered a fellow castoff, so offered to help Harley find the Joker again and get her revenge on him, not to mention vengeance on Batman. It was at this point she also gave Harley a special treatment which immunized her to various toxins and poisons, as well as dramatically increasing her strength and agility beyond that of a normal human. As Ivy said, it would not make her a match for the likes of Superman, but it would give her an edge on Batman and the Joker.
As expected, Harley was much more angry at the Joker than she was at Batman, so was willing to strike a truce with the Dark Knight in order to team up against him and make her job a lot easier. After tracking him down, Harley pursued the Joker while Batman took care of his bodyguards. She was successful in cornering the clown prince of crime on a damaged building's rooftop, about to send him falling to his death. However the Joker quickly apologized for his actions and appealed for mercy, which won her heart over once again and left her madly in love with him just as before. Even though deep down the Joker did still have feelings for her as well, he mainly allowed her back into his gang just to save his own neck as well as get some extra muscle.
Over the course of the one year gap between the "Infinite Crisis" incident and now, after many exploits together with the Joker(and on her own) Harley was admitted back into Arkham Asylum, becoming an inmate there once again. Stuck there for the duration, it was only until recently that she managed to break out again and continue her criminal activities. Despite wanting to join up with the Joker again, she is without any leads on how to locate him, so she has instead attempted to work alone for the duration until she manages to be reunited with him again.
Characteristics
Age: 27
Height: 5'3".
Weight: 115 lbs.
Eyes: Blue.
Hair: Dyed blonde, real colour unknown.
Unusual Features: Commonly dresses in a flamboyant, colourful jester costume.
Personality:
A little loopy doesn't even cover Harley Quinn's quirky personality. Unlike the Joker, she is not a complete heartless madman who will kill without a second thought. While she has no qualms about killing to get the job done, she will not do it if it can be avoided or if it benefits her in some way. Speaking in a screwball Yiddish accent and appearing to act like an overgrown child, Harley is often very difficult to take seriously, something she will use to her advantage to catch a foe off-guard. Quite frankly she does not want to be taken entirely seriously and loves to see her opponents laugh before she cuts them down, something she picked up from the Joker and his antics. Just like him, she always tries to put some kind of funny, bizarre twist on her plots and crimes that will hopefully leave the victims laughing, but often these gags degrade into just being plain corny or much too deadly for them to get the joke... Despite her kooky personality, deep down Harley still has a brilliant, keen mind, even if it isn't on display all the time.
Harley's complete and utter devotion to the Joker knows no bounds, and her ultimate goal is to finally settle down with him or at least get him to truly acknowledge just how much she loves him. Through thick and thin she will stand by him and take whatever abuse he gives her, be it verbal, mental or physical. Unless he actually completely denies her his love and disowns her, all his abuse will just bounce right off her and she will forget it ever happened in a constant state of denial. Despite her obvious love for him and her willingness to do every little thing he says, she is not completely nonindependent; she is always out to prove herself by pulling heists all on her own, although in the end it is all usually just to try and impress the Joker. She is capable of taking care of herself, but she is much more prone to making mistakes without the Joker around to tell her exactly what to do.
Powers
Known Powers: Due to a special treatment given to her by Poison Ivy, Harley has enhanced physical abilities above that of an ordinary human being:
Known Abilities:
Strength Level: Roughly three times that of an ordinary human being of her size and weight.
Weaknesses:
Misc
Equipment: A large amount of useful gadgets usually disguised as some kind of harmless toy or prop, concealed inside a satchel she carries which almost seems limitless in its holding capacity. Despite her relatively low overall power in comparison to other villains, her random gadgets can easily catch the wariest of heroes off-guard and give her the extra edge that she needs. Many of them are based on the Joker's original designs, but some are of her own design. They include, but are certainly not limited to:
-A joy buzzer which gives off a deadly electric shock.
-Flowers that spray acid or release "Joker Venom".
-Lipstick that conceals Joker Venom.
-Jack-in-the-boxes that contain explosives.
Transportation: N/A
Weapons: Typically carries an oversized revolver that fires grenades and other such weapons that are disguised as corks, as well as various seemingly harmless gadgets that conceal weaponry like Joker Venom or explosives. Is also known to carry around a huge wooden mallet at certain times.

Powers
Known Powers: Due to a special treatment given to her by Poison Ivy, Harley has enhanced physical abilities above that of an ordinary human being:
- Strength - Roughly three times her original strength, enough to allow her to hold her own against someone at the peak of humanly-possible power.
- Agility - Enhanced agility, which allows her to perform great acrobatic feats and leap great distances that are outside normal human boundaries.
- Speed - Increased stamina, giving her enough strength to pull off these feats without tiring herself out too quickly.
- Immunity - Immunity to poisons and toxins, including all those utilized by the Joker and Poison Ivy herself.
Known Abilities:
- Trained Gymnast - Trained in the performance of sequences of movements requiring physical strength, flexibility, and kinesthetic awareness, such as handsprings, handstands, forward rolls, arials and tucks.
- Knowledge of Psychoanalysis - a body of theoretical and clinal knowledge, extended Freud's theories so as to make them applicable to the full spectrum of emotional disorders. Modern psychoanalytic interventions are primarily intended to provide an emotional-maturational communication to the patient, rather than to promote intellectual insight.
- Acting - The ability to assume identities and "blending" in with the crowd until her puddin' has use for her in one of his diabolical schemes where she can then turn into the oh so bubbly Harley Quinn.
Strength Level: Roughly three times that of an ordinary human being of her size and weight.
Weaknesses:
- Dependent personality disorder : A personality disorder that is characterized by a pervasive psychological dependence on other people. The difference between a 'dependent personality' and a 'dependent personality disorder' is somewhat subjective, which makes a diagnosis sensitive to cultural influences such as gender role expectations. Individuals with DPD see relationships with significant others as necessary for survival. They do not define themselves as able to function independently; they have to be in supportive relationships to be able to manage their lives. In order to establish and maintain these life-sustaining relationships, people with DPD will avoid even covert expressions of anger. They will be more than meek and docile; they will be admiring, loving, and willing to give their all. They will be loyal, unquestioning, and affectionate. They will be tender and considerate toward those upon whom they depend
- Mood Swings : Harley is prone to extremely violent mood swings, alternating with periods of comatose-like trance states, in which she has delusions and dreams of her desired life with The Joker. When upset, Harley responds savagely, her fragile mental condition responding instinctively, where she will fly into frenzies and attempt physical harm, upon herself and others. Although she has not killed anyone, she is potentially homicidal, as she is unaware of the consequences of ehr actions. She hides her obsessive and demented persona under a mask of playfulness and fun.
- Devotion : Harley could be cured if she prevented herself from bending to The Joker's will. Howevever, her need to be loved by him, prevents her from responding to therapy. Harley needs to regain faith in herself, and stop deluding herself The Joker's insane actions are merely fun and games. She is by nature a kind, sweet and gentle person, but her dementia brings out everything The Joker has implanted into her, so making her a very dangerous resident of Arkham.
- Human : Often lacks co-ordination and becomes easily confused or manipulated at times, especially when the Joker is involved. Despite her enhanced strength, she is still very much vulnerable compared to other super-power beings, as she is still capable of receiving bullet wounds, broken bones etc. and will require medical attention if she has sustained large amounts of injuries. She tends to get carried away with going for a laugh instead of going for the kill, so she often wastes time or underestimates her enemy and gives them the chance to gain the upper hand.
Misc
