History
Pre-Crisis
On Earth-2, Power Girl was the cousin of Superman and had escaped the death of Krypton by being placed in a spaceship, much like Kal-L. However, Kara's ship did not reach Earth as quickly, instead taking nearly twenty years to reach its destination. In those twenty years Kara lived in stasis and experienced life though virtual reality.
Upon her arrival on Earth, Kara was adopted by Superman and his wife, Lois Lane. She began her superhero career soon after, but instead of becoming Supergirl, Kara sought to distance herself from her overbearing cousin. To do this, Kara adopted the name Power Girl and a costume that is clearly different from Superman's iconic suit.
Power Girl became a full time member of the Justice Society and her best friend was the Huntress (who on Earth-2 is the daughter of Batman and Catwoman).
Post-Crisis
After the Crisis on Infinite Earths essentially erased Earth-2 from existence, major revisions had to be made to Power Girl. Her new origin told that she was the the descendant of the Atlantean sorcerer Arion, and had been in frozen in suspended animation for thousands of years. This revised Power Girl eventually became a member of the Justice League.
During her time as a member of the Justice League Europe, she suffered a serious injury in battle against a mystical being. Using his heat vision, Superman was able to perform surgery on Power Girl, cutting through her otherwise invulnerable flesh. Upon recovery, Power Girl found that she was significantly weaker, having lost her super hearing and sight and the ability to fly. Eventually these powers would return.
During the Zero Hour event, Power Girl became impregnated by magical means. She gave birth to a son, Equinox, who aged rapidly and disappeared. He has not been mentioned since.
Power Girl was one of the very first Bird of Prey, that is, an field agent of Oracle. However, due to a failed mission that resulted in the deaths of dozens of bystanders, Power Girl has refuses to ever work with Oracle again. Although the two have worked together occasions when needed, there is significant friction between them.
When the Justice Society reformed in the late 1990's, Power Girl became a key member of the team. During one of her adventures with the JLA, Kara meets Arion, who reveals that her Atlantean heritage is a lie.
Infinite Crisis
During the Infinite Crisis miniseries, it is revealed that the Post-Crisis Power Girl is the same woman who lived on Earth-2, somehow having survived the erasing of her home universe. In reuniting with her cousin Kal-L and Lois Lane, Kara's memory of Earth-2 was restored.
Later, Kara is assaulted by Superboy Prime and attached to Alex Luthor's "cosmic turning fork" as a representative of Earth-2. After being freed from the tuning fork, Power Girl joins the fight against Alex Luthor and Superboy Prime.
New Earth
Following Infinite Crisis, Power Girl took up the mantel of the Kryponian hero Nightwing in an attempt to free the citizens of Kandor from Ultraman. Her post-Crisis counterpart Kara Zor-El joined her as Flamebird to save Kandor.
Power Girl is still a member of the Justice Society of America.
Characteristics
Age: 25
Height: 5'11”
Weight: 180 lbs
Eyes: Green
Hair: Blonde
Unusual Features: None
Personality: Karen is a strong willed woman who hides a insecure personality behind a skin of steel. Kind hearted and loving, she makes herself seem cold sometimes to keep people away due to her feeling of not belonging. She ends up pushing people away when all she really wants is to embrace them. This part of her personality is siftening due to the revealations of who she really is and is ready to accept her place as a hero and a member of the JSA.
Powers
Known Powers: A Kryptonian’s body acts as a solar battery; absorbing yellow-sun solar energy which can then be used as various remarkable powers. Using their powers causes them to use up this stored yellow sun energy. A Kryptonian can lose their powers if they expend a lot of energy quickly (e.g. during Superman’s battle with Doomsday). They can also lose their powers if they spend too much time away from a yellow sun while in outer space. When low on solar energy, a Kryptonian can 'recharge' their solar reserves by exposing themselves to a source of yellow sun energy. The rate at which they 'recharge' can vary, based on proximity and other unknown factors. When they have absorbed excess solar energy, their power levels have been above normal until the excess power is burned up.
Strength Level: Capable of lifting any object on earth, and even planetoids with the use of a ‘super-charge’ of solar energy.

- Solar Energy Absorption: This is the main source of a Kryptonian’s powers. They constantly absorb solar energy, storing the energy in their unique physiology.
- Superhuman Strength: While the exact magnitude of a Kryptonian's strength is unknown, it is generally accepted that their strength easily surpasses the capacity to lift 1,000,000 tons, but how much more is not known exactly. A Kryptonian’s strength, like their other powers, fluctuates over time. A Kryptonian has also shown the ability to become even stronger when "supercharged". A Kryptonian can possess enough strength to move a small planetoid upon attaining enough solar energy from Earth's yellow sun, but normally are only strong enough to lift any object on earth.
- Invulnerability: A Kryptonian’s body is nigh-invulnerable and they’ve been capable of surviving nuclear explosions. Superman has even been shown withstanding Darkseid's Omega Effect, a feat that was previously considered impossible. In addition, a Kryptonian’s immune system protects them from toxins and diseases. The most common explanations for their invulnerability are having a super-dense molecular structure and/or a supercharged bioelectric "aura" which acts as an invisible "force field" around their bodies within a few millimeters from their skin. The proximity of this field to their skin means that loose clothes, for example, may be burned off, while cloth that is close to their body is protected by the "aura". (This phenomenon is sometimes cited as Superman's reason for wearing a skin-tight bodysuit.) This field has also been implied to unconsciously extend to an undetermined extent to protect a greater area, allowing them to carry huge objects within the Earth's atmosphere and without gravity or inertia tearing them apart.
- Superhuman Stamina: Ability to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an undefined period. Theoretically, A Kryptonian has unlimited stamina; nourishment coming from the solar energy their cells process. They do, however, have the psychological need to eat and drink just as humans do, though they receive the majority of their nourishment from the Sun. They require sleep on occasion so they can dream. Kryptonian’s can also take deep breaths, oxygenating their blood, enabling them to go for hours without having to breathe.
- Flight: Kryptonian’s can fly through force of will, which enabled them to maneuver precisely in any direction, as well as hover. The mechanism by which they fly is unknown, but some suggestions have been a field of energy allowing unconscious manipulation of gravity or diffract/reflect of gravity due to unidentified Kryptonian organs affected by a yellow sun, or psionic manipulation of a personal anti-gravitational aura, which is also caused by his Kryptonian cells and a yellow sun. A Kryptonian’s speed has been established at being just under the speed of light. A Kryptonian could fly faster in the depths of space due space warps allowing them to traverse intergalactic space.
- Superhuman Speed: A Kryptonian has the ability to move at an incredible speed, like the Flash. This includes running, but flying is less strenuous and more versatile. Their top speed seems to be just under the speed of light. A Kryptonian also possesses superhuman reflexes and the ability to move at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. They can also perform complex actions like assembling objects at hundreds of times faster than a normal human.
- Enhanced Senses: A Kryptonian possesses greatly enhanced senses.
- Telescopic Vision: The ability to "zoom in" the distance to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. The total telescopic ability is unprecedented, but limited to some extent.
- X-Ray Vision: The ability to see through anything except lead. They can see things behind a wall as if the wall were not there, or can "peel back" layer after layer of matter in their mind. A Kryptonian can focus their vision past layers of matter, literally seeing "through" them -- possibly perceiving x-rays, cosmic rays or other forms of energy invisible to normal human vision which pass through Earth's atmosphere (and solid objects) after emission from stars. Since it is passive, this ability would not generate harmful radiation in the same manner as a focused projection of hard X-rays.
- Microscopic Vision: The ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level (normal optical microscopes can only see objects down to the size of chromosomes).
- Infrared Vision: The ability to see in total darkness.
- Electro-magnetic Spectrum Vision: A Kryptonian can see well into most of the EM Spectrum. They can see and identify radio/television and any and all broadcast & transmitted frequencies, allowing them to avoid detection through radar or satellite monitoring methods. A Kryptonian can see the paranormal aura that every living thing generates.
- Superhuman Hearing: The ability to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. The only Earth creature who can detect sounds at the frequency he can is a blue whale (0.01-200,000 Hz). He has shown enough control to block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source/frequency. He can identify a person by their heartbeat, or pick out a single voice in an entire city.
- Telescopic Vision: The ability to "zoom in" the distance to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. The total telescopic ability is unprecedented, but limited to some extent.
- Heat Vision: The ability to fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at it with the conscious act of activating this power. Visually, the power is typically depicted as two beams of red light firing from their eyes. These beams can be made invisible, allowing them to work undetected. The maximum temperature of their heat vision is said to be around that of a nuclear detonation. The area of effect can be consciously determined by them, down to the microscopic level. Recent stories imply the precision is so exact it can bypass a target's outer shell (not causing damage to a person's skull for surgical purposes) or even defenses (such as invulnerability or intangibility).
- Super Breath: The ability to create hurricane force winds by blowing, and to chill their breath in order to freeze a target (this latter ability has also been called "freeze breath" and "arctic breath"). A Kryptonian can also breathe in large amounts of air, an ability used when dealing with and disposing things like clouds of poison gas.
- Super Intelligence: Kryptonians are considered geniuses by human standards. They possess a photographic memory, and are capable of easily assimilating and processing all the minutiae of data that they comes across every waking moment, even at super-speeds, with perfect clarity and without confusion.
Strength Level: Capable of lifting any object on earth, and even planetoids with the use of a ‘super-charge’ of solar energy.
Abilities: <Fill this in>
Weaknesses:
- Strength of Personality: Karen's strengths can be some of her worst weaknesses as well. Her strong personality can sometimes turn off teammates. She sometimes demands respect, due to her being a female or due to her feeling of having to prove herself as a descent SuperGirl at all times. She also hides a great deal of insecurity. Years of false background and a feeling of not fitting in anywhere has caused this to be deep rooted in her. She sometimes feels she will never live up to Superman's legacy and feels this weight even more now that she knows the truth about her being from Earth 2. her love for the Earth 2 Superman and Lois Lane, both gone now, drives her while at the same time she is scared to let them down.
- Magic: Kryptonian’s are vulnerable to magical and psionic effects. Although they are no more detrimentally affected by such effects than a normal human would be, this is a significantly exploitable weakness in comparison to their incredible physical resilience.
- Kryptonite: Since the destruction of Krypton, its remains (rendered radioactive by the explosion) have been spreading throughout the universe as kryptonite, a crystalline substance which has many variants. Exposure to Green Kryptonite instantly expels all of the stored solar energy from a Kryptonians body, rendering them powerless in a matter of seconds and more often than not crumpling them to the ground in pain and making them extremely ill. A long exposure could kill them.
Lead and other similar super-dense materials can block Kryptonite radiation, protecting all exposed - Lengthy, prolonged exposure to Kryptonite radiation is proven to cause cancer in humans. - Lead: A Kryptonian cannot see through lead with their vision powers.
- Solar Energy: Superman will eventually weaken without replenishing his energy reserves with normal (yellow) sun radiation. He is not replenished by red sunlight, and its radiation can be used to weaken him. The storage capacity is sufficient enough to let them function at full capacity for up to 3 days, depending on physical condition and how well rested they are.
