So. What did you do if you were curious about the team that your current team leader had actively spoken about being on? Further more, what did you do if you had those kinds of thoughts lurking around in your head but you thought that said team leader might kick your ass - or kick it more than usual, given Gem was still nursing last week's bruises - for asking about her past? For Gemma Antonelli, the answer was relatively simple - you went out to where said team was; San Francisco. Home of Dirty Harry and Bullitt and Alcatraz. And really obnoxiously high and steep streets, apparently; Gem, who had, for once, forsaken the nearly OCD-ish levels of clothing she wore in favour of some sports shorts and a tank top - both in her distinct red along with a delivery-style bag and sunglasses (again, in that same red which would just scream OCD) - was still sweating like an absolute maniac and she struggled up one of the hills. She had thought she was making progress, as of late, given Rose had assigned her an exercise regime in addition to the training they did together, but this was ridiculous. She was beginning to understand why Steve McQueen had that high powered car, why Harry Callahan never went anywhere on foot.
Still, she supposed, at least the downhill portion of the trip was going to be a hell of a lot easier. And her feet weren't going to get blistered thanks to her choice in footwear, which in turn meant that she wasn't going to spend time complaining and lying about on her back in her quarters, which was fortunate since it didn't mean she was going to get her ass kicked by Rose, as per usual. Again, she'd taken precautions to avoid that in coming here; Unless Rose knew she was coming and got hacked off over the matter, Gem had made sure there was nothing she was meant to be attending today. So the day was all hers - she just had to make sure she was back in time. Gem was, after all, fully aware of the consequence there - And there were far worse people than Rose Wilson that she could end up displeasing if she wasn't careful. Gem shivered slightly, not at all liking the idea of displeasing NOWHERE's lord and master. That, from what she had seen and heard, could not be a good idea.
Sighing, and deciding to relax a second, Gem pulled a pair of binoculars from her satchel, and observed Titans Tower; It was so weird-looking. She'd lived in LA all her life and never seen it before, which was a bit odd, she supposed, but to see it, it was odd; Totally ostentatious in a manner that she expected - they were the Titans and they basically lived in a giant 'T'. She didn't really know whether she found that hilarious or somehow disgusting; Replacing the binoculars in her satchel - fortunately appearing like any other tourist that might be going around San Francisco on any given day, Gem eyed it naturally, now; Truth be told, she'd not really come up with that much of a game plan before she came out here, but it was kind of her intention to try and meet the Titans, or at least try and observe them or something along those lines. Just.. Maybe try and get something out of them that would help her understand A - exactly what someone like Rose was doing with them in the first place, and B - what had compelled her to leave; Granted, the latter might not be so difficult to figure out, given Rose had branded them all 'goody goods', from what she remembered.
But Gem was curious, and had plenty of time on her hands.
The question still remained of 'how was she going to meet the Titans', of course; And then a potential answer breezed past Gem at around ninety miles an hour, sailing down the San Franciscan hillsides having just launched off one of the flat sections of the road just up ahead; "Holy crap," emerged from Gem's lips , astonished. It was a car, completely and utterly out of control like something out of a movie, only way more dangerous. Gem was no mechanic, but even she could tell this was going to get a whole lot worse all of a sudden, and lo and behold, it did - the wheels spun as it hit the ground, driving the front end of the vehicle into the road and flipping it brutally, making the the car bounce vertically several times before it came to a stop - barely - on one of the next flatter sections of the road, further down. Gem stared - It was totally like something out of an action movie, and if she didn't know better, she'd say it actually was.
After a moment, however, she realised it wasn't - too many people were coming out to see what had happened. Gem grimaced briefly, wondering whether or not to get involved, before finally deciding to do so, hurrying down the hillside and right up to the driver's side of the car. The driver was, surprisingly, concious, but struggling to get out, he was that disoriented. Gem, of course, had no idea if this car was going to pull a Pinto and blow up on her, but she had no intention of finding out; Trying to force the door open, she did, of course, discover that it was locked. Stupid drivers picking and choosing exactly when they needed to be safety concious.
"Well, this is great," she muttered tersely, fingers closing around the handle again as the balls of her feet dug in; "Decide to come and visit the city where the Teen Titans live and you're gonna get your butt blown up on one of the days they decide they aren't around."
