It is what Ystin wihes for above all else and it is what drives her onwards. He has visions from Merlin granting his a chance to accept the quest once more and each time he does. Ystin alone has the chance to find the Holy Grail because he never gives up. Ystin is proud to be a knight and that having King Arthur himself bestow the title upon him means he is very loyal Arthur's memory and legacy. Over time having seen so much of the world, Ystin has developed a cynicism towards humanity in general and will often end up insulting people in his ancient Brythonic tongue when they irritate him or aren't doing what they're told. It can be hard to make him laugh or rejoice in life though the brief moments when he does are worth it. Despite his status as a knight, Ystin will put in lots of hard work and is not afraid of getting his hands dirty, hardwork is something that he is entirely familiar and comfortable with. Despite working hard, Ystin will always try to find time to make sure her armour is always shining brilliantly. He is pure of heart, courageous and a very good warrior, he uses his skill with a sword to protect the weak and the innocent, regularly putting himself in harms way to save other people from doom. He is brutal in combat, a fighting style that has developed over ten millennia, Ystin is prepared to kill an opponent if necessary without hesitation. One of the few things he really takes enjoyment in is riding his pegasus, Vanguard. Feeling the exhilaration of the wind on his face and flying through the sky makes him happy. The two of them have a close relationship, the two have a strong personal bond forged across the millennia. Vanguard is capable of anticipating Ystin's needs in battle. The two are very close and would die for one another. DOCUMENTED HISTORY Born 10,000 years ago in the age of the first ever Camelot, Ystin lived in the court of Artus the Bear King. It had been the greatest kingdom the world had ever known and Ystin grew up with stories of brave knights and their heroic deeds so he resolved to become a knight. However the knights would not let a woman become a Knight of the Round Table despite Ystin's insistence that he was not a woman that he was male too. Never quite able to achieve his dream, Camelot's end came all too soon at the hands of beasts. Ystin took up arms and fought bravely defending Camelot but was eventually impaled to a tree with a spear through his gut. Before he died though, Merlin appeared carrying the Holy Grail. He allowed Ystin to sip from it not only restoring his life but giving him immortality. Soon after Ystin met another survivor of the destruction of Camelot, a pegasus mare called Vanguard. Never ageing Ystin soon granted Vanguard immortality with a taste of his own blood. The two travelled throughout the land searching, questing but never entirely sure what for. They would fight in battles and soon he had acquired shining, golden armour and a reputation for heroics, earning Ystin the name of the Shining Knight. At times when the world became too much for them they would enter a deep sleep lasting centuries. Everytime they would come around and begin questing a new. During one such sleep Ystin slept within the roots of the Tree of the World. A single drop of magically charged water from the roots entered his lips and she was granted a vision from Merlin. It showed him the Holy Grail and how Merlin had lost it. Merlin was giving Sir Ystin a chance to find the Grail and restore Camelot. He has had this vision many times, each time it gives Ystin a chance to turn away from the quest but he has never faultered. A thousand years ago Sir Ystin arrived in the town of Little Spring in Kingdom of Alba Serum. He met up with several other adventurers including Jason Blood, Madame Xanadu, Vandal Savage and Exoristos, an Amazon whom he grew closest to. There they were forced to defend the village against the Questing Queen's army which included men, dragons, monsters and dinosaurs. The Questing Queen was also after the Holy Grail but the warriors soon to be known as the Demon Knights manage to stop her at Little Spring. The Demon Knights would adventure together on and off for many more decades including meeting King Arthur, travelling to Hell, then to Avalon and fighting hordes of vampires. More long sleeps and adventures were to follow. Dragons, a gem stone from Hell, sorcerers, giant spiders, floating castles were just some of things Ystin encountered with the world changing faster and faster. Now in modern times after another decades long slumber, Ystin and Vanguard have awoken once more. Refreshed and renewed the Shining Knight's quest for the Holy Grail continues. EXAMINATION RECORD Newspapers had been a good inventions, very useful for distributing information and news. There was only one thing Ystin was looking for in the paper and that was near the top. The date told him that he had been asleep for coming up for seven decades this time. The sleep had certainly been refreshing before then Sir Ystin had been involved two major worldwide conflicts in the space of quarter of a century, the last one had been enough for Ystin and Vanguard to need to sleep, so they had found the cave, the same one they always used and had fallen asleep in early 1946. There had been dreams, some Ystin could remember, others vague in their meaning, some were simply nonsensical. As always waking up left both him and Vanguard hungry. He had headed for the nearest town which had grown considerably in the intervening time. The first thing to do after establishing the date was to get something to eat but to do that they needed some modern currency. Luckily Ystin kept a stash of gold with him, people's desire for gold was a constant that Ystin doubted would ever change. Coming out of the pawn store which had accepted the gold and handed over a lot of paper currency, Ystin was welcomed back onto the street by alarm bells. Two masked men carrying handguns burst out of the bank and jumped into a vehicle. The tyres screeched and it pulled away. His hunger would have to wait. Ystin whistled loudly and in a few moments Vanguard swooped down in front of him, "Get us up," he said hopping on Vanguard's back. Astonished crowds watched on as Vanguard flew high allowing Ystin to look down below and quickly spotted the speeding vehicle. Those motor cars had certainly gotten faster and more sophisticated in the past decades, "That dark blue car, get me above it," "Can I assume breakfast is delayed?" asked Vanguard, her wings beat hard in an effort to close down the car. "You'll get your apples soon enough, horsefeathers," Ystin replied. He waited until Vanguard got above the car before drawing his sword, "Pick me up in a moment," without another word, Sir Ystin leapt off the back of pegasus and stabbed his sword down into the back of the car and landed on the back of it. Shouts of alarm came from within. Crouching low, Ystin pulled the sword out and dug his hand into the rent now open in the bodywork. Cars were interesting inventions, Vanguard disliked them but Ystin could appreciate them and had learnt of a weakness. The tyres could be shredded by a sharp object. Ystin hung onto the car and leaned out, stabbing the sword into the tyre and was rewarded by it bursting. The car started weaving violently and Ystin was forced to jump clear before it inevitably crashed. Ystin rolled and heard a crunch as the car smashed into a lamp post. Getting up, Ystin walked over to the car and hauled out the two dazed bank robbers, "Pennau tail," he muttered in Byrthonic. He removed their weapons and stood guard over them as the police sirens drew closer. It felt good to be awake again. subject examined by Doctor Cyber | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;] S H I N I N G K N I G H T |
