Most will not say it, but they gawp at her chair, and how tragic it is. It isn't hard to miss the pity and sympathy in their pouts, and the softness in their expressions. Barbara is a tall woman, incredibly fit and deceptively strong. Because of her line of work, she will often be seen with a small, glass screen in-hand, checking her contacts and emails. Under her eyes are slight circles, indicating sleep deprivation. Otherwise, she is the picture of health and fitness, aside from her unnaturally pale skin and glasses. BEHAVIOR PROFILE[/style][STYLE= margin: 0px 10px 0px 10px; border: 2px solid #191919; padding: 2px; font-family: verdana; height: 125px; overflow: auto; font-size: 11px; color: #000000; text-align: justify; background-color: #ffffff; opacity: 0.8] Barbara is strong, quick-witted, insecure and snarky. She is incredibly independent and driven, with her emphasise on results. There aren't many things she will put up with, if they annoy her. Calm: Barbara can handle multiple tasks at once, while remaining calm and collected enough to function at peak efficiency. Many people count on her input and information, all at once. regardless of the disasters they are working on, or rescues, or whatever else, and every one of these situations is life or death in the eyes of those involved. For her to let her emotions out, would spell certain doom for some operation somewhere. She often paints her mood with humor, to keep herself in the game. She was the only sensible mind during the No Man's Land crisis, having to essentially run the GCPD herself while the rest of the city panicked in chaos. Humor: As Batgirl, Barbara had to keep up with the likes of Batman and Robin, trading her fair share of barbed puns at them to keep from falling behind. It is humor that helps her focus on her task at hand, and keeps her from letting panic set in, which in that line of work, was fatal. As Oracle, she has far more at stake and more of it to keep in check, so humor tends to be a bit of a crutch to keep her head in the game. She'll often make jokes at her own expense, but this keeps others from having a chance to do so, and her current emotional state wouldn't handle being picked on very well. Loyal: The secrets of the Bat Family are what keep them alive, and Barbara knows this all too well. Her own secrets are such that if revealed, her life would effectively be over. The people in her life have truly earned her unyielding loyalty, something that will go with her to her grave. Her father was always there for her, and brought her out of the shell of a little jaded girl that she was. Batman was the mentor that kept her alive and showed even an inkling of affection towards her. She and Nightwing have easily traded life saves at any number of times, and have grown close enough to be now married. She doesn't take people in very easily, but the ones that are worth it get her undying loyalty. She would sooner die with the secrets she has than give them up. Social: On the outside, Barbara tends to display a happy healthy mental mind that isn't afraid to meet new people. Due to her father's place in Gotham's political realm, she has little choice but be seen and socialize. She is also eager to ensure that no one is able to focus on her wheelchair rather than her, and to be anti-social would only put a huge sign on it. To those she truly loves, she is affectionate, even on a physical level. She is not afraid to ruffle someone, or smack the back of someone's head for being silly. In the cyberweb, she is even more outgoing, feeling all too at home in a place where her wheelchair doesn't exist. She is far more flirtatious there, but more so because there is nothing behind such actions. She always knows what to say in conversations, and will be the first to bring up topics to avoid silence. Barbara is very persuasive when she wants to be. Persistent: It may be another word for stubborn, but in a kinder light, her persistence is a huge part of her personality. It was her persistence with Batman that got him to finally accept her into the Bat Family in the first place. It was her persistence that kept her alive while out in Gotham fighting crime. After being paralyzed, it was this same persistence that kept her from simply giving in and essentially fading out, because this would mean the Joker won. She will not allow anyone to help her when she feels she has something to prove. She will never let someone leave her out of something because they think it is too much for her. She has survived many encounters that would have gotten any normal person killed. Independant: Barbara was never the little helpless girl that giggled and let the men do all the work. She played with the boys, giving them quite the challenge to keep up with her rather than the other way around. Barbara Gordon had always been free spirited and strong, she was highly confident as well. Which is probably why she had been so qualified to create/become the first Batgirl. Even as a paraplegic, she does everything herself, regardless of cost. She learned how to defend herself from Richard Dragon, and took up shooting lessons just in case, all to ensure that she is never truly helpless again. In addition to this, the night Barbara was shot affected her more than the loss of her legs. Her aura as a leader seemed to go up as well. She is the coordinator/founder of the Birds of Prey; an all female fighting group. This step has furthered Barbara away from the dark corners she had been in after the Joker paralyzed her. Barbara became severly independent, to the point of being isolated. She will rarely go out, unless she has a specific purpose. Perceptive: As essentially a freelance detective, Barbara got talented at being able to figure things out on the fly. She had to be able to figure out what people were up to, what they might be ready to do next, all to ensure she stayed alive and they were caught. Now in a less physical sense, she has gotten all too good at being able to sense when someone is eying her for the chair, more out of hating pity than need. She remembers practically all details, and her mind can quickly put all the pieces together and quickly determine the intent of a person. Things such as tone, volume, facial expression, general body language, all add up to a point of being able to tell nearly as well as some with telepathic ability. To sum it up; Barbara Gordon is a warrior inside and out. Not letting her paralysis or any other reason get in the way of being a hero. Nor does she let her triumphs and tragedies bring her down like when she was paralysed. Bits by bits the old persona of Barbara Gordon started to come together again. After having a dream about the Oracle of Delphi. Barbara began her journey of self discovery. And although Barbara won't admit it, but she wants her ability to walk again. She is filled with angst, regret, and is shadowed by that one 'night.' [/style][STYLE=color: #191919; font-size: 10px; margin-top: 10px; margin-left: 10px;]DOCUMENTED HISTORY[/style][STYLE= margin: 0px 10px 0px 10px; border: 2px solid #191919; padding: 2px; font-family: verdana; height: 125px; overflow: auto; font-size: 11px; color: #000000; text-align: justify; background-color: #ffffff; opacity: 0.8] Barbara Gordon was born the daughter of Roger C. Gordon and his wife, Thelma, in the suburbs of Ohio. Even as a young girl, Barbara wanted nothing more than to be a super-hero. Her best friend Marcy and she would spend endless hours designing super-hero costumes and heroic identities for themselves. At this precocious age, the seeds of Barbara's future crime-fighting career began to foment. When Barbara was fourteen, her mother and father were tragically killed in an car accident. It was largely caused by her father's drinking problem, something that haunts Barbara to this day. After the accident, her uncle, James Gordon, adopted the orphaned Barbara. James and his wife (also named Barbara) lived hundreds of miles east in Gotham City, where James worked as the police Captain. Barbara immediately became infatuated with the gothic city's most legendary phantom of the night – Batman. Barbara had become obsessed with Batman and learned everything that she could about him. One evening, she snuck into her father's private home office to discover him engaged in a secret conversation with the Batman. Barbara had no idea that her adoptive father was actually worked with this mysterious dark knight. Her obsession with Batman only intensified. The following morning, Barbara insisted that James enroll her in martial arts classes. While reluctant at first, he recognized that the daughter of Gotham City's police captain could definitely benefit from some knowledge of self-defense. Barbara excelled in her training and earned her black belt within a short span of time. As dedicated as she was towards her physical development, Barbara equally committed herself towards her academic achievements. Gifted with a eidetic memory, she easily rose through the ranks of Gotham Heights High School, and graduated early at the age of sixteen. Soon after, Barbara earned herself a scholarship to Gotham State University. She became one of the University's youngest students, graduating with honors before she was even a legal adult. She became friends with Katarina Armstrong(Now know as Spy Smasher) but that friendship ended when Katarina trip Barbara on the run track and that she won the race. Still in college, Barbara (age eighteen) continued with her self-defense training, this time learning the art of Jujitsu under a sensei named Dragoncat. To supplement her income, she accepted a position as a research assistant at the Gotham Public Library. Her true dream however, was to one day work in the field of law enforcement. She asked her father about joining the police academy, but James laughed at her, claiming that she didn't even meet the height requirements. She also attempted to enroll at the local FBI office as a field agent, but they dismissed her, citing many of the same reasons. A few nights later, Barbara found an opportunity that would ultimately change her life forever. The GCPD decided to host the Million Dollar Masquerade Ball at the Bristol Country Club. Dozens of Gotham City's most affluent leading citizens, including the likes of Bruce Wayne and J. Devlin Davenport, were expected to attend. Barbara sewed a stylish, feminine version of Batman's costume based upon designs that she first conceived as a child. For the most part, she intended on crashing the party as this "Batgirl" merely to spite her father. When she arrived however, she found that somebody else had decided to crash the party before her. A costumed criminal named Killer Moth and his cronies raided the country club, grabbing Bruce Wayne as a hostage. It was their intent to rob the charity proceeds as well as extort hundreds of thousands of dollars from Gotham's wealthiest patrons. Barbara now found herself acting as Batgirl in deed as well as in name. She tackled Killer Moth in the hopes of rescuing Bruce Wayne from his clutches. What she didn't realize though, was that Bruce Wayne was actually Batman. He allowed Batgirl to rescue him so that he could sneak off to change into his work clothes. Returning to the scene with his sidekick, Robin, Batman discovered that Killer Moth had gotten the better of Batgirl. In order to free her from the morass of Killer Moth's silk-spinner gun, they were forced to let the criminals get away. Batman chided Batgirl harshly for her foolish antics, and warned her against pursuing such a reckless lifestyle. Hearing such criticism from a man she idolized for so long was a shock for Barbara, but it did not deter her from her chosen path. As the years went on, however, Barbara found her role as Batgirl less and less fulfilling, and she eventually retired. That's when the Joker showed up at her house, shooting her in the abdomen. He proceeded to take photos of her, naked and bleeding out, with further assault implied. To top it off, he kidnapped her Uncle Jim. Batman rescued Jim Gordon, but Barbara Gordon's career as a crime fighter was over. For a brief period of time, she suffered from self-hatred and doubt, but was pushed in the right direction by Bruce and Dick. Recognizing she could no longer be the kind of superhero she had been, she instead devoted all her time to developing one of the world's most complex and powerful computer systems and set to work accumulating information, renaming herself "Oracle." Blessed with a eidetic memory, Barbara reads dozens of the world's top newspapers and magazines daily. She's also constantly gathering information from other, less public sources, such as the CIA's mainframe, not to mention the data networks of the FBI, NSA and Interpol (all without their knowledge or consent). Oracle has proven an absolutely invaluable resource to the Batman and his allies, as well as countless other superheroes, few of whom know anything about the person behind the name. Oracle has formed an alliance with fellow heroes Black Canary and The Huntress to aid those in need. Together, they are the Birds of Prey, combining their unique abilities and skills in the war against crime and terror. STRENGTH LEVEL: Because she has spent years as a crime-fighter, active martial arts student and being confined to her wheelchair, Barbara has incredible upper body strength, for a woman her size and age. She has less muscle strength in her legs, due to lack of use. They are not withered, as she tries to work out the muscles, in spite of her disability. This can be done in multiple ways, and involves walking frames and arm exercises. WEAKNESSES: INPUT WEAKNESSES HERE (OPTIONAL:LIST WEAKNESSES)

Barbara knew this for a fact as she'd spent the past half hour counting the ways she could exact revenge for such tardiness. Currently, she was on number ninety-seven. She tapped her fingers against the desk before her, reading an article on stem cell research. Nothing new, and definitely nothing that piqued her interest. There was always a little glimmer of hope on the horizon, with maybes and possibilities the focus of every piece of research. Tick. Tick. Tick. It distracted her from the time passing, and the stress on her shoulders. Barbra shot a nasty look at the clock on the wall, her mind in no condition for the sharp click of the hand as it twitched in a circle. It wasn't like her to worry over the other woman, but Dinah was carrying important information. Time was running short, and she needed to search through the piles of folders and papers for any and all information. There were briefs to write up, and information to get out to her agents. Barbara chipped nervously at her nail polish, eyes narrowed at the thick lacquer that had started to crack. Her nail was dull, damaged behind the gloss. And so she sat impatiently at her computer, eyes fixated on the chipped fragments of shimmery black and yellow. It wasn't meant to last forever. It was just coloured paint, to make things a bit funner. In truth, it stemmed from her last delayed rendezvous with Dinah. Tick. Tick. Tick. "Sorry I'm late! Really sorry! Don't even - don't start, Babs." Babs tapped her fingers on her desk, her eyes narrowed at the other woman. "I'm not sure if it's flattering or worrying that you knew I'd be angry. I have girls on the street who're at risk if they miss their meet-ups and - don't roll your eyes." She threw up her hands in defeat, a frustrated sigh punctuating it. She turned back to her partner-in-crime, a motherly look of disapproval more than obvious. "I've rerouted traffic, and altered traffic light patterns so they'd hit all reds, so we might be in luck." Babs set her glasses on the desk beside her, her hands running over her face. It was a stressful job, and that wasn't made any easier by sassy canaries or missed meet-up points. There was only so much the great Oracle could do for Gotham, given the woman behind the symbol was cracking.
