History
Origin
Tamaran's Princess Koriand'r was the second of three children. Her older sister, Komand'r was the next in the line of succession, but she was crippled by a childhood illness that robbed her of her natural Tamareanian ability to convert ultraviolet light in to flight energy, so she was deemed not worthy to be queen and the succession fell to Koriand'r. When both sisters were sent to train with the legendary Warlords of Okaara, the bitter Komand'r ran off, allying herself with the Citadel. They used Komand'r's information to successfully invade the planet Tamaran. King Myand'r turned Koriand'r over to the Citadel to ensure peace.
Koriand'r endured six years of torture until she and Komand'r were both released for experimentation by the Psions. The Psions, who are largely sadistic scientists, performed a deadly experiment on both of the sisters to see just how much energy their Tamaranean bodies could absorb before exploding from the overload. During the procedure, Komand'r's forces attacked the Psion ship to rescue her and while the Psions were distracted, Kory broke free with the starbolts, destructive blasts of solar energy, a result of the experimentation. Against her better judgment, she decided to free Komand'r who was still absorbing energy. However, far from grateful, Komand'r struck her sister down with the same-much stronger- power and had her restrained for later execution. Koriand'r escaped and found her way to Earth with the help of the Teen Titans. She chose to remain with the team and took the name Starfire, and quickly formed a romantic relationship with Dick Grayson, then - as Robin - the leader of the team.
Kory is regarded as extremely physically attractive even by the standards of the superhero. She also displays the traits of Tamaran's highly sensuous culture, coupled with a no nonsense warrior attitude. For a time, Kory had a career as a fashion model.
She has been married twice, both times to Tamaranean men: once to the prince Karras to seal a peace treaty, and once to General Phy'zzon for love. Both of her husbands died in battle. She almost married Dick, but their wedding was interrupted by Raven, who had followed in the steps of her father, the demon Trigon. Raven murdered the priest after he pronounced Dick and Kory husband and wife. The relationship was already on unsteady ground, with Kory fearing that Dick was rushing into marriage, and also being concerned by the anti-alien sentiments that sprang up in response to the news of the impending nuptials.
Starfire has served as mentor/teacher to the latest roster of Titans, and also began serving with the Outsiders.
Starfire was stranded on a paradise-like planet with fellow heroes Animal Man and Adam Strange after the battle with Alexander Luthor, Jr. and Superboy-Prime. After several weeks, Adam was able to get his spaceship working, and they departed for Earth. Their ship, however, was attacked by Devilance, who they had encountered on the planet and who had pursued them into space. Lobo appeared just in time to destroy Devilance, and after a some negotiation, agreed to help them out.
When it was believed that Animal Man had perished in battle against Lady Styx, Starfire took it upon herself to bring his jacket back to his surviving family on Earth. Upon reaching Earth, however, she quickly discovered that Animal Man was still alive.
Titans Together
After the apparent defeat of Lady Styx, Starfire once again returned back to Animal Man's home, where she was recovering from her recent adventures and regaining control of her returned powers. One afternoon, while sunbathing, she and Animal Man's son were attacked by a water demon in Buddy's swimming pool. Meanwhile, her old Titan teammates had also been attacked by assorted demonic entities. This led to Starfire, Nightwing, Troia, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, Flash, and Red Arrow, to reassemble as a team, when they realized that the attacks are the result of a resurrected Trigon and his newly discovered three sons. While investigating, the Titans began to experience unexplained mood-shifts. For Starfire and Nightwing, they were overwhelmed by lust, and ended up having abrupt sex in the middle of their investigation.
Soon after, the team met up in New York's Central Park, where they attempted to recover from these mood-shifts and realize that each shift coincided with one of the seven deadly sins. The team was then approached by the Sons of Trigon. They battled the villainous prodigy, and drove them away. Starfire and Nightwing then discuss their actions while under the influence of Trigon's sons. While Nightwing shows hints at wanting to renew their relationship, Starfire questions his commitment to the relationship and goes so far as to ask Nightwing whether or not he truly still loves her. Nightwing to his own surprise and reluctance admits he does not, leading to them for now leaving their reunion in doubt. Since then, it has been clearly stated that Dick has moved on, though Kory stays true to her Tamaranian culture and still loves him.
Most recently, she has been captured and turned into a Justifier, as seen in Final Crisis: Resist. She has since been freed. Although the loss of control she gathered from the Justifier helmet distressed her severely, causing her to lash out at anyone remotely looking like they are wearing one of the helmets. She was more than happy to destroy a warehouse full of them when Mister Terrific offered her and Cyborg to destroy them. After a stint with a psychiatrist (instead of talking to Donna, which troubled her to no end), and a subsequent denial of joining the Justice League, she is left none the healthier.
Blackest Night
Most recently during Hero's Day, a time when the heroes of the DC universe join together in remembrance of dead comrades, Starfire and the Titans were attacked by Black Lantern versions of their fallen teammates. During the battle, Starfire and Cyborg were subjected to a psychic attack by the Black Lantern Omen, putting them both in a euphoric state as they experienced their greatest desires. For Starfire, her greatest desire came in the form of her marrying Dick Grayson (indicating that she is still deeply in love with him). Luckily, both she and Cyborg were rescued by Beast Boy and with their attackers eventually defeated by Dove, Starfire and the Titans prepared to face the Black Lanterns head on.
Justice League
Kory was recently invited to join Kimyo Hoshi's new Justice League by Donna Troy. She joined the team briefly and left a note to Dick explaining why. She then joined the R.E.B.E.L.S. and returned to where Tamaran used to be, to find that it had mysteriously returned.[1]
She had casual relations with Captain Comet, who clearly felt more for her than her for him.
Memories Lost
Having suddenly lost her memories and becoming unused to human culture and confused by their mannerisms, Kory simply chooses to pass her time here on earth in isolation since her home planet has been destroyed.

There was only a momentary silence as the water receded from the shore. In that moment, Koriand’r felt the loneliness consume her. In that same moment however the loneliness was swept away as the water crashed back onto the shore in a small, but powerful wave. She sat upon a beach rock her long, glowing, orange hair gently wafted in the breeze. Its brilliant fiery sheen was gone since the Tamaranian princess was in a state of peace and calm. There was no war, no fury, and no flurry of muddled emotions in her mind. Just emptiness and solitude like the deep open sea she stared out into.
She felt like an exiled creature, but it was she who had isolated herself from the world. Having lost a huge chunk of her memories she found this planet strange and remote, but at the same time little things here and there reminded her of a life on its surface. She knew she could not go back to a warm welcoming embrace because there was no Tamaran to return to. Instead she chose to stay where in the last place she would consider a home; this planet Earth.
“X’hal! Who goes there!?”
The moment of peace had burned away in an instant as her hair grew aflame and a brilliant glow began to emit from her fingertips. Koriand’r looked about, her ears perked at the sound of rustling and she fixated her view on a heavy, green brush just to her left. The lush, tropical gather of leaves shivered as something stirred deep within them.
“Show yourself now and you will be spared.”
Koriand’r said quiet simply. Her tone was hard, commanding, and demanded a response. Her hands were now encased in a fiery shimmer and she was ready to unleash a flurry of starbolts if absolutely necessary. The brush began to quiver even more, and then finally a lizard, perhaps the size of a rat jumped out of the safety of nature’s embrace and presented itself to Koriand’r. Starring at her brilliant glow its beady eyes looked on as if in marvel. Then, it flicked its tongue and waddled off in another direction, completely unfazed by the Tamaranian Princess.
Koriand’r’s bright green eyes began to lose their luminescence as the small reptile walked away, and she began to slowly lower her arms. Battle instincts had betrayed her at that one moment, mistaking a small innocent creature as an enemy. She chuckled to herself as she brushed a strand of loose orange hair behind her ear. Even in the furthest regions of the galaxy and the furthest mass of land from civilization, Koriand’r was never truly alone.

Powers
Known Powers: Koriand'r's Tamaranean heritage allows her to absorb solar energy and convert it to the power of flight. The Psion experiment gave her the destructive Starbolt force. Starfire is also incredibly strong, as powerful as a dozen Earth men. She is a skilled warrior whose powers and emotional intensity make her a fearful foe.
- Solar Absorption: Due to her Tamaranian physiology, Koriand'r is able to absorb and store solar energy. With this energy, she can convert it and create a limitless fuel for her body or convert them into powerful concussive blasts known as starbolts. Solar Absorption is the one attribute that differentiates her from humans and her own people, because it acts as an infinite source of energy that could light a city for years, or as a powerful and destructive blast of energy. When releasing this energy, Koriand'r is able to mold it in her favor, either sending a powerful stream of energy or a seemingly endless wave of energy bolts. Starfire also has the power and ability to unleash all her stored energy into a pseudo nova blast. It is suggested to be as hot as the sun itself and so only uses this in dire situations
- Flight: As a Tamaranian, Koriand'r was born with the natural ability of flight. By channeling the absorbed solar energy, Koriand'r is able to propel herself through the air at blinding speeds, even faster than the speed of sound. While flying, Koriand'r leaves a distinct fire orange trail behind her.
- Enhanced Stamina: The ability to absorb solar energy allows Koriand'r to supply herself with an infinite amount of energy. Because of this, her stamina is extremely high, enabling her to feed off the energy around her and continue a fight for hours, or maybe even a whole day without even wearing out one bit. Through this, Koriand'r can maintain strenuous physical activity for a longer period of time than most individuals.
- Enhanced Durability: By natural biology, Koriand'r is more durable than most. She is able to withstand most blunt or heavy blows and can stand her own against equally powerful super beings. Albeit, she is not durable enough to be protected against piercing objects or bullets, she's strong enough to not be fazed by an explosion or by the hit of a heavy object.
- Superhuman Strength: Although not as strong as the likes of Wonder Woman or Super Girl, Koriand'r possesses a great of deal of strength that when combined with her combat knowledge, make her a formidable opponent.
- Linguistic Assimilation: She is also capable of assimilating other languages through physical contact with another person.
Known Abilities:
- Expert Combatant: Starfire is also an extremely proficient in armed and unarmed combat, having been trained in those arts by the Warlords of Okaara.
Strength Level: Koriandr is able to lift over 25 tons in weight, or the equivalent of a small tank
Weaknesses:
- Magic: Koriand'r is susceptible to all forms of powerful and high level magic. She has little to no defense against anything that is associated with the “arts”. Whatever type of spell it may be, Koriand'r is sure to fall under it.
- Mind Control: As strong as she might be, Koriand'r has absolutely no barrier against the likes of mental persuasion. Assuming you have the power and the chance, it is very easy to place Koriand'r under your control, thus making it possible to work under just about anyone's whims.
- Overexertion: If pushed to her brink, or if forced to do so, Koriand'r can over exert herself. This however is only possible if she releases a massive amount of Starbolt energy in one blow. After this she is usually “done for the day” and must take time to recharge. It is during this time that she is at her weakest and most vulnerable point.
- Sibling Rivalry: If there's one thing that can really hurt Koriand'r it's her vengeful sister. Being pitted against her has brought sometimes the best and worse out of Koriand'r and there are times when she believes her sister can truly over power her. Even if she does end up victorious in the end, Koriand'r must always be wary because her sister is always lurking around her prepared to strike and finally take her down.
- Titans' Enemies: Her time serving as a Titans has allowed her to not only establish an extensive fanbase, but an anti-fanbase as well. There are a lot of Titans' enemies and they are willing to take out every member if it's the last thing they'll do. Koriand'r can't really sleep with one eye closed because she knows that somewhere out there, someone is plotting against her, or her own teammates.
