UNUSUAL FEATURES: None. BEHAVIOR PROFILE Nice guy: Robert is an all around nice guy who cares about his friends wellbeing. He puts others needs before his own. He is friendly, likes to converse with others but yet he is unassertive. He likes to help others, give emotional support to his friends and sometimes strangers who are down on their luck. He is very willingly to do favors for others. He is someone who is always there for his friends when they need someone to talk to. Bobby is just a very caring selfless friend who would do anything and everything for his friends. Caring and considerate: Burnout is caring and considerate towards his friends. He values his friends opinions and thoughts. He’ll listen to his friends when they need someone to talk to and he’ll do anything he can to help his friends through whatever they are going through. Burnout is also very considerate to the feelings of women, he acts nicely to women. He treats women fairly and with respect. With men he’s pretty much the same as he always is, he tries to get out of bad situations and tries to avoid confrontations whenever possible. Protective and loyal: Robert is very loyal to his friends and those that he trusts and he is very protective over them. He would do anything for his friends. He would even give up his life for any of them without a second thought and without hesitating. Robert is extremely loyal to his friends; he would never betray them, no matter what would happen to himself, he’d even go through extreme physical and physiological torture for any one of his friends. He’d willingly die or kill for them. Sacrifice: Bobby is selflessly sacrificing when it comes to his friends and those he trusts -but mainly his friends-, he would sacrifice himself without a second thought or a moments hesitation if it meant he was saving someone else’s life. Distrustful and earning trust: Due to his time on the run with his team he has learned to be wary of trusting anyone besides those on his team as he has been with them for several years. He has a hard time even trusting those that have helped him or saved his life or the life of his friend. It takes a while to earn this young man’s trust. Even someone as kind and friendly as he has trust issues, his are just hidden behind his friendly, nice guy persona. Burnout will not hesitate to show his distrustful side to anyone who he does not know unless one of his friends with him then he tones down his distrust of strangers if only slightly. Anger, annoyance, rage, loathing and hate: These emotions are something you’d rarely see on this young man’s face but he does feel these emotions more then he lets on. These are emotions that he prefers to bottle up and then release through his powers, he tries not to show or even feel these emotions as they tend to affect his powers very easily. Temper: Burnout’s temper was usually easily controlled or in most cases never gets shown unless he has been provoked. The only way to really provoke this young man is to threaten, harm or insult his friends and family. He also loses his temper when he is insulted or mocked(and not in the teasing/joking way). He however has a pretty good control over his temper and usually doesn’t snap unless rightfully provoked. Prideful: Burnout is a very prideful young man, he knows when to ask for help and when to let someone help him but there are some things he likes to deal with on his own, mainly problems that revolve around himself. He’d much rather deal with his own fears, nightmares and feelings by himself mainly because he doesn’t want to burden anyone with his problems, even if those people are his friends and teammates. Teamwork and flying solo: Bobby has no trouble with working together as a team and he can easily fall into the rhythm of working with one of his teammates. With other people it will take him a bit more time to get into sync with another person, not that he likes working with other people who aren’t his friends and teammates. Bobby despite being well advised in the dynamics of teamwork can work on his own and fly solo just as easily if he were fighting an enemy with one of his teammates. He can fight well on his own and without the assistance of someone else; in fact since he lost his sight and gained thermal vision he personally finds it easier to fight solo than with his teammates. DOCUMENTED HISTORY Robert *Bobby* Lane is the son of John Lynch, a superpowered special ops member of Team 7. For decades the corrupt I.O. organization had been carrying out genetic experiments designed to create supersoldiers for the government. Team 7 were among the 12th generation of this experiment (Gen 12), and among the first successes - previous attempts had ended in death for the subjects. When many of the members of Gen 12 became fathers, I.O. became interested in their children: Gen 13. According to the Gen 12 series, Lynch's wife left John Lynch when their son, Robert, was very small. The exact circumstances of his mother's death are unknown, but Bobby was put up for adoption under a fake name. (It was later revealed that several Team 7 members who had gone into hiding themselves knew about this and arranged this to protect Robert from I.O.) During his childhood Bobby often changed foster families, because he was unable to fit in with them, though he became good friends with his foster sister Han Tsung during his stay with her family. When Bobby became a teenager, I.O. decided to restart Project: Genesis which had done the Gen 12 experiments. They performed genetic screenings across the country and recruited all children and teenagers who were gen-positive, usually indicating that they were the children of a Gen 12-member. Bobby was recruited to be part of the Gen¹³ project, unaware of this history. There he began to connect with others such as Grunge, Caitlin Fairchild, and Roxy. And it was there that he first had his latent powers unlocked. But when he and his friends discovered what the end goal of the project was, and that the plan was to control any successes by numbing their wills using drugs, they planned an escape. The four of them were joined on their escape by two others: Sarah Rainmaker and Threshold. Unknown to the rest of them Threshold was loyal to I.O., and only went along because it was his mission to try and awaken the latent powers of Freefall and Grunge (who hadn't manifested any yet) and create a killer instinct in the group that the government desired in its superpowered operatives. He succeeded, and then betrayed the group. All of them except Fairchild were recaptured. She came back for them, and having made a second, successful escape they allied with John Lynch, who had become a high-ranking member of I.O. Lynch took the team to San Diego to hide from I.O. and Bobby began to develop romantic feelings for his team-mate Sarah Rainmaker. Sarah didn't return those feelings though, as she considered herself a lesbian. The two did become good friends though. One of the first villains Bobby helps defeat is Helmut, an old adversary of John Lynch. He would also confront returning I.O. troops, a giant ape rampaging across a college campus and in one case, a trickster spirit who personally manipulates his feelings concerning Sarah. In another instance, the entire team is transformed into animal hybrids. Again and again, Gen 13 would confront DV8, who also came from Project: Genesis but were much more violent and amoral. Some time later Lynch and Bobby figure out they are father and son. After some initial awkwardness the two have come to accept this new dynamic in their relationship. During his time with Gen 13, Bobby began to develop powerful psionic abilities, allowing him to read and control the minds of others. He lost these powers when another Gen-Active, a powerful telepath damaged the telepathic part of Bobby's brain. Bobby defeated the telepath and his brothers and became romantically involved with their sister, Leslie, a Gen-Active codenamed Trauma Queen. Their romance was short-lived as Robert and the rest of Gen 13 apparently died in an explosion. Robert survived the explosion because of his powers but the explosion caused him to lose his sight since he had looked right at the explosion when it had happened, which caused irreversible damage to his eyes. His father helped him cope with not only the loss of his sight but also the supposed loss of his friends. Robert’s powers developed even more since his blindness, he found that his vision was coming back but he quickly learned that it was not the vision he knew but a strange thermal vision that he had to get use to, Robert after a few weeks was used to the thermal vision and went out searching for his friends, holding onto a small sliver of hope that perhaps they could have survived the explosion like he had. Two years passed and he was still unable to find any trace of his friends or even locate them. Sometime during that time, Bobby’s father John Lynch had sacrificed himself in order allow Bobby to escape and the man figured if Gen 13 were recaptured by the I.O. he would find them and help them escape for a third time. A few months after his father’s sacrifice Robert hadn’t given up searching for his friends but he was also balancing that with his guilt, trying to survive on his own without help and remain out of I.O.’s clutches. Robert Lane is currently captured by the secret Government agency that is involved heavily of the other super powered teenagers that has resulted in the capture of older heroes. No one knows of his capture and as far as they(Gen 13) know he’s been dead. POWERS AND ABILITIES KNOWN POWERS:

EXAMINATION RECORD A bloodied and broken figure was thrown carelessly into the holding cell, body landing with a thud and skidding a short way across the floor until it stopped on it’s own. Back pressed against the cold floor. Face turned away, eyes shut and blond hair in disarray. His skin paler then normal from lack of sunlight, ribs easily seen through his torn, baggy red and yellow uniform. Blood stained the uniform, easily see in the mostly yellow sections of the uniform that were dotted in thick, red, blood, still bleeding and dried. A groan came from pale lips as blind blue eyes opened to darkness. Limbs moving slowly and carefully so as to not cause too much pain to his new and old wounds. He learned quickly on what not to do when it came to wounds at least during his time here, wherever here was. He sat up carefully and winched when a needle sharp pain ran through his side. Someone had given him a few merciless kicks to the side for giving one of the scientists’ an attitude. He frowned and bowed his head trying to figure out what he could do. He felt a familiar weight around his neck… The power controlling collar… It was worth a shot. Broken fingered, bloody, shaking hands pulled and tugged at the power disabling collar that was around to his neck like he was someone’s pet. “Give it up already, Burnout. You won’t get that collar off.” a voice sneered, crackling from the static from the rarely used speaker somewhere off to the right of him. Burnout ignored him. He tugged on the collar once more just to spite the man who spoke to him. His fingers forcefully uncurled and he dropped his hands to his sides and suppressed a shiver as cold air blew into the cell from the small vents that were all around the three cornered cell with a force field for a wall and doorway, keeping everyone and everything out except for the air and keeping him in. He couldn’t escape. He had tried and failed several times before when he was taken for testing, experimentation or when someone brought him food and it all ended badly for him. The first time they were lenient on him as they were just teaching him a lesson. The second time they weren’t as lenient and he was beaten half to death, the third time he was beaten to near death, the fourth time he was beaten and tortured. After the fifth failure he had given up on escaping, or at least given up on getting out of this alive. ”No one is going to come save you!” the person on the speaker spoke again cutting through his thoughts and bringing the young man back to the present. His hands curled into fists, forcing his still healing broken fingers to bend. He knew perfectly well that no one was going to come and save him, he had given up that sliver of hope two weeks after his capture. His teammates were most likely dead and on the off chance that they weren’t they’d think he was dead and wouldn’t come to save him. They didn’t... wouldn’t even know where he was. Hell. He didn’t even know where he was! This man was just trying to make him mad. It was working. And well. ”SHUT UP!” He snapped back angered by the speaker’s taunting tone, annoyed by the numbing coldness that they constantly pumped into his cell and agitated that he couldn’t see! Mocking laughter followed. Bobby glared sightlessly at whatever he was facing. This man was playing with fire and this man was going to get burned, he didn’t know when or how but that man was going to get burned one day. ”You can’t do anything, blondie, you and the others will not be found. We have made sure of it.” The man said from the speaker. The man’s willingness to reveal that others were here made his lips twitch upwards into a smile. He hadn’t smiled in so long. “Others? There are others here?” he asked. He was none too surprised when he got no answer. No one ever answered his questions. Not even the brainac scientists that he figured would love to spill their guts about whatever it was they were doing to him and their experimentations. His small, small sliver of hope that had all but died was back; strong and hopeful. No one was coming for him that much he was well aware of, but who’s to say that the other captured didn’t have people looking for them? Surely someone was looking for these others the man spoke of, these strangers? He chuckled softly to himself. ’No one is looking for me, but someone must be looking for them.’ he thought as his small sliver of hope grew. subject examined by Doctor Cyber | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;] B U R N O U T |
