He has a very strong moral compass, and feels driven to protect the innocent and fight crime. In his values, Tim is incorruptible, although he is willing to do whatever he has to do to preserve justice and protect people. Tim was always a very serious person, even as a child, but many traumatic events throughout his lifetime have intensified his nature. He has gone from a once very social, balanced child into a dark, more solitary man. Tim is deadly serious almost all of the time, and demonstrates extreme focus and determination on matters at hand, qualities imparted to him by his mentors Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. He is also extremely disciplined, calculating and intelligent, which is what makes him such a strong detective, and crime fighter at that. Thanks to his time with the Teen Titans, Young Justice, and work with many other super heroes during his adventures, Tim has avoided Bruce's inability to work with others, and thus is able to work as part of a team effectively. In his personal life however, Tim is not good at developing relationships. Many relationships in his life, including with some of the Bat-Team, have resulted in death and disaster. As a result, Tim finds it very difficult to connect with people, and thus prefers to spend most of his time alone either working on cases or honing his physical skills. Currently, Tim is trying to rebuild his social abilities after developing feelings for the meta-human Wonder Girl. [/style][STYLE=color: #191919; font-size: 10px; margin-top: 10px; margin-left: 10px;]DOCUMENTED HISTORY[/style][STYLE= margin: 0px 10px 0px 10px; border: 2px solid #191919; padding: 2px; font-family: verdana; height: 125px; overflow: auto; font-size: 11px; color: #000000; text-align: justify; background-color: #ffffff; opacity: 0.8] Ever since he was very young, Tim Drake has been connected to the fate of the Bat-Family. When he was still an infant, Tim was present at the circus where Dick Grayson's parents were brutally murdered; unwittingly he witnessed the birth of the very first Robin. Several years after that Tim saw footage the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin, taking down the villain known as The Penguin. During the fight Robin performed a quadruple somersault, a maneuver that only Dick Grayson and a few others in the whole world could execute. Since he knew that Dick Grayson was the ward of Bruce Wayne, Tim correctly deduced that Grayson was Robin, and that Wayne was of course Batman. After that, Tim followed the adventures of Batman and Robin very closely, including Dick becoming Nightwing and Jason Todd's replacement of him as the new Robin. After Todd's death, Tim witnessed Batman becoming more reckless and angry, and determined that Wayne needed a Robin in order to maintain his sanity. Trying to help, Tim followed Dick Grayson after he left the Teen Titans, and convinced him to return to Gotham to assist Batman. Dick brought Tim to the Batcave and left as Nightwing to go and help Batman fight Two-Face. They failed however, and both were captured. Alfred Pennyworth suggested that Dick had actually brought Tim to the cave to become the new Robin, and so Tim donned the suit and saved Batman and Nightwing with help from Alfred. After this, Batman accepted Tim as the new Robin on a trial basis. Tim went through rigorous training, for the position. First he trained with Alfred, then with Batman and finally with Nightwing before he was even allowed to don the Robin costume again. Before Tim can take on the role of Robin, a villain calling himself the Obeah Man captures his parents, Jack and Janet Drake. While waiting for news of their rescue, he takes his mind off his worries by focusing on tracking down the hacker/thief Moneyspider, who he reveals to be Anarky, thus solving his first solo case. Meanwhile, Batman rushes to rescue Tim's parents, but fails to save them before the Obeah Man poisons both Jack and Janet. Janet dies, and Jack is left in a coma for several months. Batman becomes even more reluctant to entrust Tim with the Robin mantle following this loss because afraid that the boy is too blinded by rage and a desire for vengeance. Tim proves himself when the Scarecrow kidnaps Batman and Vicki Vale. After that, Batman finally allows Tim Drake to become the newest Boy Wonder, who wears a more practical uniform, including long pants and no 'pixie' boots. Wishing to make certain that his newest Robin does not repeat the mistakes of the previous Boy Wonder, Batman sends Tim to Paris in order to learn fighting skills from a master martial artist: Rahul Lama. There, he learns the healing arts from the aging master, while learning combat from his grandson. Unfortunately, Tim finds himself drawn into a battle against King Snake's criminal organization, the Ghost Dragons. While on this adventure, Tim joins forces with a former DEA agent, Clyde Rawlins. Unexpectedly, someone else is after King Snake: the world-class assassin Lady Shiva, who wishes to test her skill against the King Snake. She immediately sees potential in Tim as a fighter, and decides to take him under her wing. She then trains him in martial arts. As a bonus, she offers to teach him to use one weapon; Tim chooses the bo staff. Shiva mentions, somewhat derisively, that it is not a lethal weapon. Tim replies that he chose it for just that reason. At the end of his training, he defeats Shiva in a sparring match with the bo, and as a gift she presents him with a collapsible bo staff which fits under his cape. Meanwhile, King Snake creates a virulent plague. The three attempt to stop them from releasing it, but the Ghost Dragons escapes with a few of the canisters. After tracking them to Hong Kong, they eventually defeat King Snake, though Rawlins dies in the attempt as Shiva watches. Shiva orders Robin to kill King Snake while he hangs from a building, to signify his 'graduation' and thus become her 'weapon'. Robin refuses to kill, however, and leaves. It is at first implied that Shiva throws King Snake off the ledge of the building to his death, but later it is revealed that he is still alive. Upon his return, he began working with Batman in full, and the two had many adventures as a team. During this time, Tim joined the Teen Titans, and also had a hand in founding another group of young crime fighters known as Young Justice. Meanwhile, Tim's father, Jack, emerges from his coma paralyzed from the waist down. This new handicap and the loss of his wife leaves Jack with the desire to reconnect with his son. Tim's duties as the Boy Wonder and his close relationship with Bruce Wayne cause a greater rift between Jack and Tim, though they attempt to reconcile. In time, Jack regains the use of his legs with the aid of physical therapist Dana Winters. Although Dana is considerably younger than Jack, the two immediately feel a mutual attraction and begin dating. Dana curbs Jack's anger at his son for being so distant, and helps Tim to feel more connected with his father. As time passes, Jack proposes to Dana, and they get married. They wed following an incident in which Dana is possessed by a powerful witch and fights Robin, Spoiler, Wildcat, and Black Canary. Tim later falls in love with Stephanie Brown, the Cluemaster's daughter, who rejected her father's lifestyle and adopted the superhero identity of Spoiler. Stephanie initially does not know Robin's true identity, as Batman forbids Tim to reveal it to her. Their romance is tested early on, when Stephanie confesses to being pregnant from a previous relationship. Tim helps deliver the baby girl, after which Stephanie gives her up for adoption. Tim's father, Jack Drake, discovers Tim's secret identity. Jack is enraged and threatens to expose the secret identities of all those involved with Batman. Tim offers Jack a deal, in which he would give up his role as Robin to respect his father's wishes; in exchange, Jack would keep their secret identities safe. After this, Stephanie Brown takes over the role of Robin for a short period, until Batman fires her for disobeying orders. Soon afterward, a massive gang war (which Stephanie Brown starts unintentionally) consumes Gotham City, and finds its way into Tim's school. After assisting the Bat-Team to the best of his abilities, with no equipment or costume, Tim protects his classmates, but not without casualties. Tim then realizes that he cannot disregard his responsibilities and takes up the Robin mantle again, against his father's wishes. When Jack finds out that Tim is again Robin, he grudgingly realizes how truly important his son is to Gotham, despite the immense danger. Black Mask then captures and tortures Stephanie. She later dies from both her injuries and the willful negligence of Batman's confidante Leslie Thompkins. It later turns our though, that Dr. Thompkins had faked Stephanie’s death in order to keep her safe and allow her to live a normal life. One night, while Batman and Robin are investigating crimes, they receive an incoming transmission from Oracle saying that Tim's father needs to speak to him immediately. It turns out that there is an intruder in the Drake home and a mysterious note with a gun is left for Jack suggesting that he protect himself. Jack tells Tim that he is proud of him, and that he is not responsible if something bad happens. The intruder turns out to be the hired killer Captain Boomerang. Jack fires as Captain Boomerang unleashes a razor boomerang and the two kill each other before Batman and Robin can make it back to the scene. Like Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson, Tim Drake has now lost both of his parents to crime. After his fathers death, Bruce Wayne offers to adopt Tim, who is not initially fond of the idea. Tim falsifies records to create an uncle who would become his 'legal guardian'. He then moves in with his 'Uncle Eddie' in Blüdhaven (Nightwing's previous stomping grounds), while his step-mother receives treatment at a psychiatric hospital. Although Tim covers his tracks well, Batman is still able to figure out the truth. Rather than being angry, Batman is impressed with Tim's subterfuge, as figuring it out had taken serious detective work. He even offers to teach Tim to cover his tracks completely. After Robin's departure from Blüdhaven, the city is destroyed by the Society. Although he worries about his stepmother, his "uncle", and Nightwing, Tim continues to Titans Tower. He then leads a successful assault into one of Lex Luthor's genetic research bases to find a cure for Superboy. With Blüdhaven still in chaos, Superman leaves Robin in command of all the superhero rescue efforts. However, when the government puts the city on complete lock down, the Titans are kicked out. Several years after Tim became Robin, the Bat-Family suffered a devastating blow in the form of the supposed death of Bruce Wayne. Dick Grayson took up the mantel of Batman during this time, but did not as Tim to remain on as Robin, instead choosing Damien Wayne to take his place. Unlike the other members of the family, Tim believed firmly that Bruce Wayne was still alive. Cutting ties with the family, he donned the costume and title previously held by Jason Todd: Red Robin. Under this alias Tim traveled the world, searching for Bruce; during this time he had several solo adventures, including a lengthy tangle with Ra's Al Ghul and his League of Shadows. After Bruce's return and retaking of his position as Batman, Tim kept the title of Red Robin and continued to work with the Bat-Family until his falling out with Batman. Most recently, Tim has just come out of a state of semi-retirement and taken up the mantle of Red Robin once again. He has reformed the Teen Titans, but now finds himself developing feelings for the meta-human Wonder Girl.
