Black strands of hair were blown back by the way the wall crumbled and fell and the sound it created was to her a great sadness, but she couldn’t let herself be distracted, her eyes had watched the woman’s ever move as she’d run for the device, after she’d discovered what Atlee had been doing. Atlee felt the earth surround the machine and Aresia’s actions, and finding out she was at least successful in stopping the device, it gave her something. It gave her hope.
Hope that would only be demolished as Aresia easily broke her poor excuse for a defensive structure. As she seemed to fly through the air, avoiding the wall, she watched with a wash of fear as her body came crashing to the ground, her arms outstretched and collided with the ground under her. She heard it crack, heard it groan and cave, before it gave way all together and hurtled her body down under the city itself, into the abandon train station, a subway at one time maybe?
Atlee pulled at the earth, the ground under her opening up as her feet hit the ground instead of striking solid ground she landed on soft dirt, the impact not jarring her body nearly as much. It allowed her to keep her footing. She breathed in slowly looking around at the darkness that surrounded her; the only light from the opening above them, the light caught the other woman’s hair making her look even more god like in a very deadly way.
She didn’t get much time to react as Aresia was suddenly coming for her, her fists clenched and ready to collide with her face. Her eyes had dimmed in brightness but it didn’t mean she was out yet. She knew she couldn’t take that hit, not at its full velocity. Two thick squares of rock were erected between her face and the fist come at her. The rock easily broken and crumbling but the hit as it sailed across her cheek, jerking her head to the side with the momentum wasn’t enough to thankfully break anything, but it was damn close. Her body curled with the blow away from her, and she placed all her weight on her left foot, managing to twist her right leg up and going for a kick at the lower part of her body either her ribs or her upper thigh to give her a nice hit in the nerve cluster in her upper leg.
Atlee knew she’d have to take hits to get off her own, but she had very little training in this area, she was getting better, but she still needed more, it was going to take time before she’d be anywhere near the level that would even remotely stand up to the woman who was easily making her body her personal punching bag. Her arm throbbed with pain and the edge of her vision was starting to get a little haze from blood lost but there was no way she could stop, no she wanted to live, wanting to get out of here alive.

[style= text-align: justify; padding: 5px; width: 445px;] She was just here to pick up some things she left behind in the Justice League Internal headquarters downtown. In light of the recent revival of the Justice Society of America, Courtney Whitmore had resigned from the government sponsored team and brought her star-spangled butt back to an every familiar group where her true loyalty lies. That’s not to say she wasn’t prepared for what was going to happen midtown after she had checked out all her items and looked forward to her return to the hotel for a few hours to recover from jet lag. Wailing sirens and the blur of blue and white police vehicles was enough warning to tell her that something big was going down. In her experience she did remember New York City was the epicenter for crime – but then again what big city wasn’t?
The explosion in the distance was her cue to rush back into the JLI headquarters, dump her belongings and her cosmic belt that complimented her uniform, actually it was the very object that made her Stargirl, it was the single thing that made all of this possible. Wearing her uniform underneath her civilian clothing was habitual by this point in time. It was something Powergirl had instilled into her heroic mannerisms ever since she joined the Society. So as she rushed down the hallway and back to the busy strengths of Manhattan, Courtney Whitmore was pulling the ¾ sleeve, black dress off her body and switching off her boots for her signature knee high red pair.
Once outside the star spangled teen lifted off into the air, her specially designed cosmic rod expanding from its comprised form and held rather defiantly in Courtney’s grip. She followed the signs of trouble, using the best of detective skills and quite simply flying toward the rising smoke that collected in the distance. The sound of the Earth moving also reached her ears and Courtney wondered if that had just been her imagination.
She was hovering over 33rd street now and could see the cracks and fissures formed along the ground. Big guns, she assumed or people with really big fists. What did Karen say about those types of people? Right, the bigger they are the harder they fall. She grinned slightly at the reminder and felt almost naked not actually having her default leader on the field with her. This would probably be one of those rare occurrences where she would be working alone – unlikely though, when things did crash and crumble there as always a pair of helping hands running about to ensure all hell didn’t break loose.
The people, like ants that had scattered beneath her were running away from the intersection of 34th and seventh avenue. Courtney moved to investigate however the sound of an explosion a few blocks down caught her attention. Grand Central was had debris rising in the air and knowing that where there was smoke there was trouble, Courtney immediately diverted her intended direction and made way for the famed Grand Central.
The manmade bridge created in the area looked t be in shambles. The familiar diner that Courtney had always passed on her internships, but never actually entered had its glass windows blown out and the interior completely ruined by debris and the concaved ceiling. She bit her lip, looking around and saw the massive crater on the ground at the intersection of 42nd and Lexington Avenue. Her eyes opened wide as she caught sight of a blonde haired woman who leaped down into the whole an air of “bad” emanating from around her.
Instinct was in overdrive and Courtney quickly followed after the woman, diving into the whole and using the illumination from her staff to guide her way and make visible her surroundings.
The abandoned train tracks looked back at her with certain eeriness as she tried to catch sight of the blonde woman. There – there she was, the light from her staff brightened and she watched as the woman raised her fists overhead intent on bringing damage to – Atlee?!
Recognition spread across Courtney’s face as she saw the raven haired woman and her familiar black and white jump suit. Her reflexives were speeding up and without even thinking of her plan of attack, Courtney ran forward bringing her Cosmic Rod back and then forcibly swinging her arms forward. As she did, her rod unleashed a whip like burst of energy that had every intention of slapping the titan like woman off her feet and away from her friend.
“Atlee!” Courtney cried out, rushing to the girl’s side and keeping a close eye out for their attacker. [/style] Tag: Aresia

[style= text-align: justify; padding: 5px; width: 550px;]Her balled fist shook at the strenuous amount of pressure she was placing in keeping it clenched. It was a shame, a real pity to have to bring upon such an end to the young child. She could not be blamed after all for the lies and deceit that man’s world had put into her. In fact she was corrupted, so corrupted that there was no hope for her return to pure roots. Her innocence had been raped just as her own body had been and Aresia saw this instead as a favor to the child. An extension to her cause, the ending of her life would end the everyday suffering she experienced at the loss of her female innocence.
This was Aresia’s duty, this was the reason she was created and precisely placed into this world. She was acting on the Gods’ will who had long lost their hope and respect for humanity since the rise of man. Absolutely despicable, was all she could think as she watched witnessed Atlee’s feeble attempt at defense. The girl was clearly daft, did she not already learn through initial experience that Aresia’s raw strength was enough to break through the world’s strongest metal?
The stone that was erected in between herself and Atlee’s precious face did very little in stopping Aresia. In fact, the Amazonian barely even felt the rock collide with the sharp ends of her knuckles as she pierced it and watched the structure shatter like glass. Rock and dirt scattered from her fist and in a split second Aresia saw the terrified expression on Atlee’s face as she prepared – no embraced the imminent end of her mortality. There was glint of life in Atlee’s purple eyes that caused Aresia to pause for just a moment as she hesitated, almost unable to take away a dear sister.
The hesitation cost the Amazonian her attention and with very little warning she felt a blast of hot energy collide against her armor and uncovered skin. She was rocked to the side, sent hurtling through the air by about ten feet before smashing into a support column. The beam cracked under her weight slightly and she grimaced as what seemed like the burning intensity of a thousand suns radiated upon her armor and extending to the flesh that it was meant to protect.
Her ears caught the outcry of another young woman, and though her vision was blurred by uplifted dust and grit she could make out the figure of a teenaged girl with brilliant blonde hair and possessing a peculiar staff. Aresia shifted, using her right hand to push herself off the column and going forward to punch the beam. It groaned and suddenly began to splinter, the weight of the entire street it was holding coming down on it. Her lips curled into a brief upturned smile as she listened to the ground above them shift and slowly crumble.
I will bury away these sins.
Aresia thought to herself, rising into the air and then flying at full speed, her arms outstretched and her body propelling to about five support beams before finally flying out of the underground crater. She towered over the surface, staring down at the crumbling concrete, weakened bridge and damaged street lights. Collectively they all began to fall into one another, effectively caving into the hole where she had callously left Stargirl and Atlee behind. [/style]

The lack of pain had her narrowing her eyes to look at the woman, who’d intended to knock her out with that hit. Instead what met her gaze was her body flying the other way into the darkness, and the sound of her hitting against something that didn’t quite give. Her knees buckled and she found her on the ground, her limp right arm hit the ground. It had been broken at the wrist and dislocated from the shoulder. She gave a sharp cry of pain and tried to stand back up. The world was getting hazy, but at the touch to her face, she turned, her name once more leaving the lips of the girl next to her. It took a moment but then it was starting to become clear, just who was next to her.
“We…” she paused hearing a sound and feeling the earth rumble above their heads. She placed her good on her shoulder. “Help me stand…we need to leave now!” Her words were lost as she heard the earth groan above their heads. She took a breath knowing this was going to hurt, the rock armor around her body cracked and broke as she felt it fall from her body, the blood from her open wound on her stomach fell to the ground, no long held in hiding. She coughed, tasting blood from her busted lip. She was probably one ugly sight. As she heard more support beams break she knew their time was shortening, and with another massive groan the earth didn’t move, before it suddenly all began to cave in.
“Get…behind me!” she forced the words out as she lifted her good arm up, and frowned with the earth didn’t quite still. She closed her eyes feeling the heat behind her eye lids and she knew her eyes were glowing. She bit her lip and started to raise her broken arm up towards the ceiling. Her vision swam and she had to force herself not to go down in the darkness that looked so inviting the Earth would swallow them up and they could very well die down here.
The rocks and dirt over head stilled and didn’t fall towards them, the rocks seemed the hold a faint glow of color around them as she kept everything from coming down and crushing them. She felt the weight she was holding as though it was really there on her shoulder and she coughed again her body protesting the strain. The added weight, the pain, as her wound would have possibly brought someone else to their knees or unconsciousness. Courtney was a reminder that she wasn’t alone, that she was down here and if she didn’t get a grip, get this under control, her friend could die.
“D-Don’t suppose…you got back up coming?” she asked a hint of smile in her voice, of hope. This was terrible how were they supposed to put a dent in this woman? She looked at Courtney, ignoring the blood that slipped down her side. She may be an alien, but even there was a limit to how much blood she could loose. “O…or a p-plan,” she added, wishing she didn’t sound as hopeful as she did, that they might be able to survive this.

Today was the day that Konner decided to visit New York city. "What the hell was that?!"Kon-L thought to himself as he heard teh screaming of the dieing and assault, and heard the definate sounds of battle being engaged. Hearing these sounds Konner jumped to the tallest building and jumped into the air as high as he could in order to see what he could and focus his hearing on the commotion. Approximately seven (07) seconds later he located the konflict, and proceeded to jump from building to building and finally approached the combat zone, and observed from a position of overwatch. About 21 seconds later, he observed one of the the Amazonian's minions attacking some police officers, and decided to intervene. Moments later, a horrid scream would be heard as one of them would feel two (02) intensely focused light beams through her skull, and he she falls over dead. Just after that moment the other one would look at Kon-L and see a black leather version of a Marine Corps MCCUU, with the name tape replaced by "Soldier of El," and the unit patches replaces by the Sigil of the House of El. Clearly identifying him as a Kryptonian, and with his sunglasses on he'd look like superman in the face. The only exception being a Marine Corp hair cut.

Courtney Whitmore could feel her heart beat vibrate from the confines of her chest to the lump that had formed in her throat and finally to the temples of her head where it caused an irritating echo throughout her ears. The pair had been so enamored by the situation amongst themselves that when they did realize that the herculean woman was up to no good it was a bit too late.
The world around them trembled and the entirety of grand central seemed to moan and groan as the weight of its upper structure lost all the support required to maintain its standing. Courtney let a moment of panic overwhelm her, but only for a moment because it reminded her of how human and vulnerable she really was. After she gave herself a few seconds to reflect on that, the Stargirl mentality returned and she reformed her grip on her cosmic staff with a heightened sense of determination.
The pretty lady would have to do a lot more to get rid of the likes of Courtney Whitmore.
Of course, a play to fly herself and Atlee out of the cave in was out of the option as debris and dust landed on her body and clouded their vision of the outside world. The Earth was falling in around them and even with Courtney’s aerial skill, she knew it wouldn’t be enough to elegantly remove the pair from the situation. Atlee was injured and that required some care on her end.
A faint white aura began to glow around her, the cosmic energy from the staff granting her an extra layer of protection as the volume and mass of falling objects began to increase. The idea of just flying both of them out of here seemed like the best, and if she could extend her field of energy the layer of provided protection should be enough to evade the falling rock and stone.
Before Atlee could even finish demanding support from Courtney, the young blonde was already taking hold of Atlee’s free arm and placing her pit at the back of her neck. With a grunt, she lifted Atlee off the ground, supporting both their weight on her two feet. Courtney could feel the extra stress and tension in Atlee as her body struggled to rise from the ground in its mangled state. Regardless, Atlee would have to endure – especially if she wanted to survive.
Creaking from a distance reached Courtney’s ears and she realized that the support beams have finally given way and were bending under the weight of the ground above them.
“Get behind me!”
Even when Courtney knew that it was probably not the best idea, she still stood behind Atlee. Stil supporting the young woman, she felt the light around them radiate as her shield of cosmic energy extended and created a dome around the two. The extra layer of protection would hold, but only for as long as Courtney could hold her concentration. With this amount of weight, she knew that even concentration and willpower combined might not be enough.
The Earth groaned and the inevitable happened. The environment around them caved in, and the pair plummeted into darkness. Her eyes instinctively closed as a method of dealing with the darkness and the grip upon her cosmic rod had tightened so much that her hands began to tremble. She expected a heavy weight to fall upon her, but even after a minute she could feel no extended pressure upon them.
Opening her eyes slowly, Courtney breathed in, catching a glimpse of the rock and dirt that had stopped mid-air and hovered above them with a faint yellow glow. She stared in awe for a few seconds and then turned back to Atlee who had released a groan of exertion as she maintained her hold on the hovering stone. Courtney applauded her, internally of course and as a side of her confidence in Atlee she placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder that shared the idea that they would get out of here alive. Courtney had been through worse and she was beyond confident that the pair could fight past the end of their strings.
“Back up?” Courtney snorted; rising in size a bit as she straightened her postured and regained her composure. “You trying to say we need help?”
A sense of humor, you always needed that even in these dire situations. Admittedly it helped when the world was burning, kind of made things less bleak.
“Well, based on her armor… she’s Amazonian…” Courtney began, wondering if she was stating the obvious to Atlee. By the looks of the young woman she had become quite acquainted with their enemy, “So that means she’s not quite invincible – hold on let’s get out of here.”
Her trail of thought faltered momentarily as she focused, changing the form of her energy shield and creating a crescent shaped fold over them. Looking to Atlee with a nod of her head, they created a silent understanding of how they would escape from the fallen cavern. With Atlee holding the stone in place, Courtney could literally push them through the air and up to safe ground. Moving quickly, she created a lasso around Atlee and the pair ascended to the top of the hole in a matter of seconds and finally several feet away to a more stable footing.
With Atlee able to relinquish her hold on the Earth, the pair was left to listen as the whole of Grand Central moaned and groaned and finally completely cave in on itself.
“Anyway, how much fight do you have left in you?” Courtney began, returning her attention to the more important matter at hand, “I’m thinking the usual ground and pound, but with an element of surprise. I’m gonna need you to break some gas and water lines, I’ll handle getting some sharp objects.”
She winked at Atlee, awaiting the girl's response and hoping that her spirit was not as broken and battered as her appearance let up.
