End of the Arms Race[/i][/url]. The race to create the celliobyte came to a stalemate and both the Justice League and the Secret Society of Super Villains stand at impasse since both parties are unable to create the Celliobyte. The Xolnarians were rehomed, but for them things will never be the same. [/blockquote]The mission to Xolnar failed. Both the Justice League and Secret Society of Super Villains were unsuccessful in retrieving the pluridium. As a consequence to their attempt and meddling done within the planet’s sensitive core, Xolnar went nuclear and imploded. The Justice League had barely enough time to evacuate the population. Fortunately, they were able to save most of the inhabitants in a 24 hour melt down period, but this effectively left the Xolnarians homeless and with the experience of a great loss. Mixed feelings were felt throughout the planet’s inhabitants as they dealt with not only the grief of lost ones, homes, memories – but their entire planet.
This also meant that the required material to create the celloiobyte was no longer available, thus effectively ending the Arms Race
Time Stands Still
Despite the loss of Xolnar, the futility of the celliobyte marks a pivotal point in Earth Prime’s history. The eradication of heroes has been avoided and Brainiac’s foreseen invasion has been inhibited. The change in the timeline does pose a mysterious question, what lies in the future?
Normalcy?
In light of Xolnar’s implosion and the league’s involvement, the universe has become fearful or wary of the Justice League and of the planet Earth. Tensions may not be felt by Earth’s inhabitants as they preoccupy themselves with their own problems, but the entire universe is watching the blue planets and its heroes. Earth is now a major planet of study for other life forms – all in an effort to avoid any mishaps similar to Xolnar.
Despite negotations, the United States Government has refused to turn over all material and research they have on the celliobyte. The feeling of suspicion harbored against Earth’s heroes is a combination of the bad PR the Society was able to generate, as well as the government’s unwillingness to let go of the possibility of creating a weapon that can successfully inhibit heroes. The U.S., intent on creating a weapon against the heroes continues to work in secrecy to make a tool they can use against the League. Additionally, in an effort to place better control over the heroes, the American Government is considering taxing the league and other super hero teams and holding them responsible for public damage.
In light of the loss of moral in heroic forces, criminals and villains alike are beginning to take advantage of the populace and rising from the grimy streets to take control. There are gang wars that are just itching to begin, and gangs that were once thought gone are beginning to rise. Politicians work on the side with gangs in an effort to stay in office and that often leads to the bad guys getting exactly what they want.
There has been no word from the Society of Super Villains, after the Xolnar incident the group suddenly vanished. Little is still known on who is running at the head of the Society, but the League is intent on disbanding them should they ever come to light again.
For now a sense of normalcy has been restored…
