Barry sat at his desk at the station, he had heard rather odd reports of museums being broken into and a person dressed as a night riding around on a flying horse, Barry then realized this was coming from a man who fights talking gorillas. Barry's police scanner radio went off as chatter began about some sort of missing cane or staff. Barry didn't like magic, he had no problem with the practitioners of magic but it confused him, perhaps it was his scientific education that made him mistrustful of the arcane.
Barry decided it would be best to at least have a look at what was going on. He rose from his desk leaving the police station and within an instant he was clad in the familiar red and gold. He set off towards the museum dodging cars as if they were stationary. Eventually he came across a sight most peculiar the knight figure he had heard about was upon a winged horse and seemed to be talking to a man in a trenchcoat. "I for one like my museum, you two wouldn't happen to know what's going on in the museum." Barry looked between the two, jumping lightly on his feet as to stay moving.

He was a bit surprised the Shining Knight wasn't aware of Faust; he was under the impression everyone -magical or otherwise- had at least a passing knowledge of the tosser. "Felix Faust is a magic user, yes. I've tangled with him in the past, and so have those Justice Leaguers. Never was quite right in the head, but lately he's been getting worse. Can't exactly tell what it is about him, but something might've happened to his soul the last time he sold it off that stuck with him worse than before." If this turned out to be someone unrelated, he'd have to check in on Faust regardless. As he'd said, there'd been something off about him the last few times they'd fought, and, being the occult detective he was, it was Constantine's job to find out what.
The offer to ride the pegasus was something he'd been meaning to ask for quite a bit now. In truth, he'd always wanted to hop up on a flying animal; he was surprised to never have seen one when he really thought about it. Before he could mount, though, a strange noise broke his concentration. What was it? Sort of a whistle, or maybe a whiz. In an instant, a man clothed in red and yellow appeared before them. "The Flash. Kind of surprised I hadn't seen you around before now." The hero asked his question, to which the sorcerer replied, "Can't say that I do. Just about to take a ride on this fancy horse with my friend here." Hopefully his lie would send the hero off. He didn't feel like dealing with someone who, at best, only had a passing knowledge as to what magic even was.

There was a sudden red blur that whizzed up in front of the two, it came in at frightening speed and only just came to a stop in time. The blur appeared to be a man in a strange red suit, it looked pretty ridiculous in all honesty but the Shining Knight had encountered a few super heroes in the past and knew their love of dressing in the most ridiculous outfit possible, it was why she knew Constantine was clearly no superhero, he was dressed more or less normally, at least in comparison to either the Flash or the Shining Knight. Though judging by the expression on the Flash's face he did seem to find the sight of Sir Ystin atop Vanguard to be most peculiar.
“We believe the incident at the museum may have something to do with the staff that Constantine here is holding. He took it from someone there who was saying that people were after him because of it,” said Ystin guessing it must have been some kind of magic that allowed the Flash to move as fast as he did, “It might be they found him and are now looking for Constantine. Of course it might be an entirely unrelated incident,” thought Sir Ystin did not believe that for a second.
“I do not believe speed is essential at this moment. Whoever is after the staff will have most likely remained in the area in order to track it down but we should go to the museum anyway in order to try and find who it is that is after it and after you,” Sir Ystin addressed Constantine. If it was this Felix Faust wizard then that would spell trouble since it was very difficult to fight a magic user who was well versed in spells and combat.

Barry gave Constantine an odd look as he made the casual remark about riding a horse. He looked at the two of them once more. After Ystin spoke Barry nodded. "Ideally that cane should be taken back to the museum. And I'm sure if they're coming after Constantine they'll get more than they bargained for." Barry hopped from foot to foot impatiently. "Speeds always essential. Are we going to get going or not?" Barry smirked at the two, this certainly was a surreal experience.

Constantine gave a sour look to Ystin; he'd wanted to keep the staff a secret. The quicker (no pun intended) Flash left them alone, the better chance he'd have at keeping it. Seemed like he was along for the ride now, though, and there wasn't much to do about it. "Best be careful, mate. You Justice Leaguers seem to have a problem with magic. Might want to call in backup." Obviously, he was referring to Zatanna. Whether or not he could handle it without her didn't matter to John, though, since he was just looking to see his girl again.
He mounted the horse with some effort, moving forward to be closer to the Knight. Placing the staff on his lap, he tried to hold himself in place by squeezing the beast, but quickly abandoned the idea after remembering videos of people being bucked after clenching too hard on the poor animal. He'd never been on a horse before, so he wasn't too sure of the etiquette in securing yourself. Was it like a motorbike or did you have to support yourself? Regardless, he decided to place his arms around Ystin's waist to try and stay attached during the presumably turbulent ride. With how much you seemed to bounce on a regular equestrian beast, he could only imagine what flying would be like.
The Flash would be there before them, obviously, but that worked to his advantage. With the extra time, he'd be able to work at convincing the Knight he was someone "worthy" of the staff so he wouldn't need to bother running when the murderer was found, especially considering the Speedster would probably side with his fellow hero, making the idea of running a very, very foolish one. Maybe flirt a bit to break the tension. He'd have to keep things on good terms with this one, whatever happened; he was used to anyone and everyone vowing revenge and trying to kill him, but it was always a pain when an immortal decided to come after him.

“It is not a cane, it is a staff. Canes are shorter and whoever heard of a magic cane?” Sir Ystin corrected the Flash. He and Constantine seemed to know each other either by reputation or by having met before, that was the problem with sleeping through a few decades of history you never had a clue about who were the famous and infamous people when you woke up.
Sir Ystin noticed the sour look that Constantine shot him, the knight replied with a small smirk. He guessed that Constantine was not looking to give the staff away anytime soon so by adding in the Flash to this little operation it would make it a bit more difficult for him to get away. Ystin noted the ungainly way in which Constantine mounted Vanguard and how much he shifted behind him in an effort to get comfortable and secure, the knight tolerated Constantine's arms around his slender waist since there were few ways to grip onto Vanguard without a saddle though Ystin had never known Vanguard to accidentally lose a rider in flight.
“Never ridden a pegasus before? Should be an experience. In your own time Vanguard,” Sir Ystin and Vanguard immediately began to trot down the centre of the road picking up speed, “Meet you at the museum!” the knight yelled to the Flash though he was certain the Flash would be there long before they were. Vanguard unfurled her wings and with three powerful beats got airborne. The winged-horse immediately set about gaining altitude by climbing steeply, clearing the roofs of the surrounding buildings and then banking sharply about to head towards the museum.
Ystin recognised that Vanguard was deliberately moving harder and quicker through the air just as a form showing off and having fun at the expense of their passenger. Ystin could remember the first time he had ridden the mare all those millennia ago, Vanguard had not been gentle then either, it was the pegasus' philosophy to put new riders into the deep end and see what happened. It had taken sometime for Ystin's stomach to adjust to the sudden drops and turns and swoops and occasional barrel rolls, “Enjoying yourself?” he asked Constantine nonchalantly.

Barry saw it was evident that Constantine didn't particularly want him here, needless to say Barry wasn't too pleased working alongside the Liverpudlian Warlock either. "I may not be a Doctor Fate but I have fought magic before. Our resident magic expert Zatanna is currently researching something called the house of mystery, it's all very cryptic, probably right up your street." Barry smirked slightly, although he found this experience oddly surreal.
He watched amused as John clambered onto the horse. "I've seen weirder than magic canes, I'm pretty sure at this point there's even magic cabbages. I'll be waiting at the museum." Barry smiled at the two before taking off. Barry darted through streets leaving a gust of wind behind him, eventually he reached the museum and running up the side of the wall waited for the pair to arrive.

John's grip tightened upon takeoff, hanging on for dear life as the beast rode through the clouds. He let out a panicked yelp on a particularly steep dip, something he figured made him look like a proper wanker. "Can't say it's the worst thing I've ever flown on," he responded. "Not too fond of the Flash bloke. Seems alright, and everything, but the masks always rub me the wrong way. You can tell he wants to take the staff back to the JLA's floating fortress, can't you?" He was hoping to plant the idea of Ystin being unable to retrieve the staff after this ordeal in the knight's mind. "At least with me you could come and take it whenever you fancied. Mess with the Justice League, though..." If all went well, he'd be able to convince the knight to let him hold on to Merlin's mighty rod for a bit, just to keep it out of evil hands, of course.

“Not the worst thing? Vanguard is the best form of aerial transport that you will ever have the privilege to fly upon,” Sir Ystin said in the defence of his mount patting her flank. In response Vanguard gave a short whinney of appreciative agreement to her knight, “Much more reliable than one of those aeroplanes and those awfully noisy rotating things, copters, I think they are called plus she is far better conversation than any of those machines will ever be,” though talking with Vanguard was pretty much the only form of in-flight entertainment once all the aerobatics had been exhausted.
“The staff does not belong in the Justice League's hands, nor does it belong in mine. I hope they will assist in returning it to its rightful owner,” said Sir Ystin but he could not help but wonder if Constantine was speaking the truth, if the Justice League wanted to keep the staff, he could not allow that to happen. It was not theirs to keep, it belonged to Merlin, “If the Flash fails to see that...” the knight left the remainder unspoken, though he really did not wish to get into a fight with someone as quick as the messenger of the ancient Greek gods, Hermes.
Vanguard landed just outside the museum, her hooves clattering against the paving slabs and causing a stir as she folded her wings up and looked around for any potential threats, “Try not to get too familiar, you can let go of my waist now,” said Ystin tapping Constantine's clasped hands with a gloved finger.
The Flash was already there of course, “Found anything yet?” the knight asked the superhero, wondering if the Flash had a chance yet to begin investigating the area.
