”I think you mean ‘we’ clearly don’t,” Steph told her new friend, nodding at her awesome outfit again. And it was awesome. Had she mentioned that? Because she really should. ”Anyway, maybe I’ll wear fishnets with ‘em next time. Proper stockings, I mean. They clearly work for you after all…” And maybe wearing them in civvies would boost her confidence about trying on the whole Black Canary outfit sometime…
She skipped over the vampire bit, arching an eyebrow at what D had to say about her and cuddly though. Her hands went to her hips, Steph looking maybe a tiny bit ‘challenge accepted’ at that point. And then she lunged, one arm wrapping round her new friend’s neck and pulling her head down to snuggle into Steph’s – ahem – upper chest area. Ahem. The other went around her upper back, pulling the two girls together into what Steph at least would regard as a definite cuddle. Maybe even snuggle, she thought, nuzzling her head against the other girl’s. But that should definitely prove that she was indeed cuddly as well as sweet.
”The old drunken boxing thing, huh?” Steph mused. ”Not one of my styles, but I’d be glad to show you a few tricks sometime. This is going to sound really bad, but it’d be really nice to have someone I can beat around. All the others are way out of my league…”
As before, it wasn’t really until she’d finally got herself settled that the blonde girl had noticed just how embarrassed this all seemed to make the Titan girl. She too was very aware of the closeness they’d just achieved, but she’d managed to keep her blush to a reasonable pink and avoid stammering. Duela though looked like a cherry about to explode and was apparently left speechless by the way she was now actually holding Steph up. Or where she was holding her up by, perhaps. This clearly was Steph’s superpower. Not that she minded, oh no. She was taking it as a complement, thank you, that she could render people speechless. In a good way, in a good way. She’d never really had any trouble with it in a less than good way.
It was one of the reasons she spoke though, even if what she actually said was a bit… Um… Well, not what she’d planned? Still, even just meeting Duela’s eyes seemed to help a bit as she went from the (admittedly cute) quivering lip and general speechlessness to matching her grin, though Steph was still pretty sure that the other girl was by far the redder of the pair. And then there was the blinking. What was that about?
Though maybe – just maybe – she’d been too quick to say Duela was back to normal, judging by the sudden range of speech between frame-by-frame and fast-forward that was going on. Oh boy, even Steph could see she’d really gotten to the girl. That was fast. Not that she was complaining. But still. Fast. ”What can I say?” Steph said, a little huskily. ”I’m glad I’ve got convincing thighs? Still not sure I could pull off the whole ‘crush your ribs thing’. And don’t worry, I’m not going to try. I’m not a crazy psycho-lady, honest…”
She grinned a bit wider. ”Also, you’re still too cute for Moore, though I’m kinda disappointed. Don’t you think I’d look totally cute in that white robe thing, all slipping off the shoulders and stuff? Or is it that you just don’t want to be all hot and sweaty with me?” Steph looked far too innocent for the things she was saying. It was a gift, honest. But she let Duela carry her along towards the car anyway.
Well, in the interests of being totally and openly honest, Steph definitely hadn’t seen or guessed that Duela was going to say that. No, ask that because it had been a question, even if it was the sort of question that made the blonde wonder whether her new friend was a lot bolder than she looked, also suffered from brain-to-mouth communication issues or was just plain bilateral. Umm. By which she meant ‘had multiple personalities’. Was bilateral the right word for that? Probably not, so it was just as well she hadn’t blurted that out loud for all to hear. Plus she was betting on B anyway. Nobody who blushed that red was that bold and… yeah, no sign of groping. Clearly she had an awesome career as a psychiatrist ahead!
In the meantime, Steph paused for a moment, running her eyes carefully over Duela’s features again, as if she was memorising them. Then, letting her hands run over the other girl’s shoulders as she did, pulling herself forward until her mouth was right next to Duela’s ear, she grinned. Well. No, it was more a smirk, the sort of expression she came up with when about to do something she probably might regret later but was going to darn well do it anyway. ”Well,” She breathed, ”Just you. Who I’d like to see more of.” And she’d love to claim that she meant that in an entirely innocent ‘best buddies’ way, but… Um. Yeah. She could have put it better in that case. Because double-meanings ahoy! And Steph? She was pretty sure that she hadn’t been that innocent when she’d met Tim, let alone these days.
When they reached the entrance to the car park, Steph asked her new friend to hold up. And then, feeling the need for a showy dismount, she unlocked her hands and let her upper body slowly drop back and down, loosening her legs too until she felt the floor under her palms. Her base sturdy, she then released her leg-lock completely, straightening her gams out and tensing her glutes to keep them upright, so that she was now in a perfect handstand in front of Duela. Toes pointed, arms straight as her legs, she held it for a moment before letting gravity carry her lower body over until she was standing upright again with a flourish of her arms. ”Thank you for traveling Duela Air,” She quipped, ”But your passenger’s a show-off.”
Her lips twisted mischievously. ”Maybe I should be asking you about seeing anything you liked, huh?”
Now she was totally flirting and Steph promptly went pink again, as it suddenly hit her. ”Oh god, I’m sorry. I’m supposed to be meeting you, not… basically groping you and chatting you up. Sorry, sorry, sorry, please forgive me?” She was actually tempted to throw herself at Duela’s feet but one glance at the floor nuked that option in its crib. Uh-uh. But yes. Embarrassed Steph was embarrassed. And a bad Steph.
Then the two of them were at the Compact and Steph grinned gleefully at D’s obvious excitement. ”Oh yeah. No way it wasn’t going to be eggplant. And that’s not all. I’ve got the satnav set up to sound like Optimus Prime. Just wait ‘til you see the gizmos and gadgets on this baby.” She patted the bonnet affectionately.
”This place?” Steph glanced around quickly, then smirked at Duela, licking a trail of syrup off her upper lip with a delicate flick of her tongue as she did so. ”Right here of course, silly. Total fail on your part. As for me? Hey, it’s a big city. And it’s not as if I send up a beacon of Awesomeness to attract other fellow Awesome people. But I’ve been about. Here and there. There and here. Hither and thither even.” Other than the lack of bacon, her plate’s contents were much the same as Duela’s. And she was tucking in with just as much gusto.

If Duela was trying to set some kind of record for number of times turning pink/red/beetroot - or in this instance, would a more punny 'bat-root' be more appropriate? - in a small period of time, then she was likely going to succeed very easily so long as she had Stephanie Brown on hand. "Thanks," she eventually replied after a moment of letting the colour fade from her face; "I had wanted to go with this cute blouse and waist-coat I've got, but they needed cleaning," she pouted visibly, thinking that would have been a better look overall, but it miiiiight have been a little bit too tight and clingy and revealing and she was already embarrassed enough as is, thank you very much. Not that Duela was ashamed of her body or anything - minus the fresh scars - but she was oh hello there tangent shall we do away with you? "I think you'll look great in them. You clearly work out - and even if you aren't at Bee-Cee's standards, she's older than us, right? Which means she's had longer to work at it," Duela remarked in a rare moment where she was trying to be encouraging.
It also didn't hurt that, frankly, as a little bit of a booooonussss (the word chimed in her head delightfully), she wouldn't mind seeing Steph in fishnets.
Any bit of Duela that had been slightly forward and a little bit confident was shooed off once more when Steph pulled her into a proper, genuine cuddle which.. Well, Duela could happily stay in as long as possible, even though a part of her was tragically rebelling and practically screaming how awkward this was and how embarrassed she should be. Temporarily, Duela managed to snuff that obnoxious bit of grey matter, and actively settled into the cuddle, a genuine smile spreading as her arms lightly wrapped around Steph. Her cheeks reddened for what had to be the hundredth time in a few minutes as Steph added the cherry on top of nuzzling with her, casting Duela right back to Shyness City; Finally pulling away, Duela awkwardly rubbed the underside of her nose with a finger, before telling Steph "Okay, so.. Um.. Easily a twenty out of ten when it comes to the cuddling! You'll have to excuse me if I ask for another one of those later," she chuckled, absolutely meaning her rating. That, as hugs-slash-cuddles went? Sensational.
A grin spread once more after she confirmed her choice - well, not so much of a choice as more the best thing Duela could pull off - of fighting style, and then Steph suggested that it was good to have her around because it meant she could beat her. "Oh reeeeeally?" Duela asked of her with a suitably defiant grin; "I'll have you know I've prrrrrrrobably been in the game as long as you, cutie-pie - you wanna beat me around, you're gonna have at least a bit of a fight on your hands," she challenged, the grin turning slightly wicked for a moment; She was confident Steph could actively beat her, and probably with relative ease, but.. Well, Duela didn't take that kind of challenge lying down. For all her confidence in replying to Steph there, though, Duela probably seemed bipolar as it was suddenly drained in favour of her looking suitably embarrassed at their close proximity, when Steph had settled and Duela had - seemingly needlessly - finally decided to hold her up. The blonde had successfully managed to turn Duela beetroot, and.. Well, to say the least, it was something of a struggle for Duela not to burst as this went on; Nervous laughter emerged as she was assured Steph wasn't going to try and kill her with her thighs. "Score two for you, then?" she chuckled with obvious nerves, the underside of her nose demanding to be rubbed awkwardly again, such was the level of Duela's embarrassment.
"Really, though, I'd rather not see you try. It'd totally ruin my perception of you, having your thighs break my ribs, stop my breathing and ruin my lovely internal organs, y'know?" she joked, before that 'about to burst' look returned when Steph teasingly asked her if she didn't think she'd look good in the outfit Famke had in the particular scene they were discussing and had somehow ended up imitating. Truthfully? It was probably an image that would be stuck in Duela's head for a very, very, very long time, and it wasn't one she was going to complain about, but.. Well. "H-H.. How is that someone who looks like a total cherub is like, so far from innocent it's hilarious? Also, um.. No comment. On either of those," Duela replied with a slight smile in place, although notably her gaze wouldn't meet Steph's for a moment or two. Yeah, she really was just thinking about Steph. In that robe.
Duela's brain scolded itself now for wanting to declare 'yum' at the image. It was probably that which allowed Duela's mouth to work overtime and ask Steph that question, which... Could've been disastrous, but given just how quirky things had been so far, the blonde seemed to take it in her stride - something she seemed a little better at than Duela. Rather than stammering and gulping and looking embarrassed, she leaned right up to Duela and.. Um. Wow. Pulling away slightly - not out of shock or disgust or anything negative in the slightest, more just general shock - Duela looked at the other girl with wide, slightly wary eyes. She.. Well, no. She wouldn't do that. She wasn't nearly brave enough to just out and kiss the blonde after that line, and.. Well, Duela didn't even think she was good enough for a woman like Steph Brown; She was like, a perfect ten, and Duela, by comparison - even though that rebellious part of her brain told her otherwise - felt like a one. The stride which she had kept up all through carrying Steph to her car now devolved into a less confident stumble, and Duela couldn't even bring herself to stammer something out as a response.
Fortunately, Steph had another trick up her sleeve that delighted Duela, and rather than being just smitten - which Duela was now accepting she was - she marveled at the blonde's dismount, which was pretty darn stunning, frankly, and Duela actually found herself clapping like an enthralled child when Steph finally stood with a flourish. That was pretty amazing, really. Duela couldn't even begin to imagine being that... Well, flexible; Not in a million years. "You might be a show-off, but if you've got it, flaunt it, right? I know they're saying that more about looks - right? - but still. Yeah. Um.. Wow," Duela enthused, having giggled slightly at the 'Duela-Air' line. And then, to her credit, Duela didn't burst or turn red or feel completely stupid when Steph turned her own line on her; "I think my lips are sealed, right now. I've embarrassed myself quite enough already, Miss Brown," she replied with a grin, though her tone suggested she hadn't particularly been complaining about the view as Steph had been showing off. Somehow - and this was a distinct change from the girl she'd been seconds before - this line from Steph led to her apparently realising that they were.. Well, flirting, and she flew into apology-mode, Duela immediately holding up her hands to try and tell her it wasn't necessary. "Woah there," Duela told her newest friend, before pulling her into another hug; "At least let me get upset before you start apologising, yeah? As it is? I'm... I'm all kinds of flattered," Duela assured her, tapping into her dwindling reserves of confidence. "So, no forgiveness necessary... Unnnnnless you don't mean what you say," she joked carefully. Not that she'd hurt Steph if she didn't, but.. Well, she'd be disappointed, to say the least.
"You're serious." Duela replied flatly on the subject of Steph's car having a satnav with an Optimus Prime voice. "I think you had me when you told me about the satnav," she told her newest friend cheerily, loving the look of the compact; "Y'think I could get Tall Dark an' Pointy to pony up for one of these for me in violet?" she asked, only half-joking as she eyed Steph hopefully.
Still very much enamoured with her new host and this blissful house of wondrous waffles that she'd been brought to, Duela simply nodded at Steph, then laughed loudly as the blonde exposed her question for being slightly silly, but she nodded again as Steph explained it was a big city. "I never want to leaaaave," Duela droned hopelessly after finishing her latest mouthful of waffles; "This place is too awesome. You're too awesome," she declared brightly, before scoffing some more bacon and then pondering something that her brain had warned her off asking earlier on; "Um. So. Y'know this, um.. Safehouse?" she asked, her tone purposefully dropping to avoid anyone hearing them, "Are you gonna be.. Ah... Um, you know, staying with me?" The green-haired girl proceeded to hold up her hands defensively for a second, before adding "Um, not because of anything funny or anything like that, honest - I.. Uh.. Well, I don't do so good at bein' alone in a place at night, not since.. Well.." she trailed off, before pointing with both index fingers at the scars marking the sides of her face, blatantly stating she hadn't slept so well since that night... TAG: Steph

Hmm. Well, as far as Steph was concerned, Duela was cute anyway. So cuteness squared Duela would just be brain-breakingly cute. That said, it would be worth it, totally worth it. She drifted back to reality after a moment, shaking her head briefly to clear the picture out of it. What was that word again? Oh, yeah.
Kawaii!!!
”I’d say that I’m totes not Blonde Bombshell material,” Steph joked, ”But I’ve got this feeling that you’d get all encouraging, so let’s just say Gotham is a great recipe for a ton of exercise. Though, if you bring up the older thing to Ms Canary, it’s what I’d call a bee-why-oh-bee-bee sitch. That being a ‘bring your own body bag’ situation, because you’ll need one once she’s done…”
Enjoying the cuddle-slash-snuggle-slash-nuzzle quite a bit, Steph was cheerfully happy to stay in it, so she was actually a touch sorry when Duela pulled back but she let the other girl go reluctantly but willingly. Well, no. She actually held on for a moment, cheekily nuzzling her for a little longer before she let D go. And chuckled at the nose rubbing. Adorable. ”Yay for cuddling that breaks the laws of mathematics!" Steph possibly looked a touch smug at that rating, but who could possibly blame her? ”And I think you could probably persuade me to repeat that…”
It seemed that those scars made for a pretty (literally, a part of Steph’s brain had to chime in) darn wicked grin, she decided as Duela’s shifted from amused to defiant to wicked in a way that sent a very nice little shiver down Steph’s spine. Very nice shiver indeed, because she was pretty sure that any thug seeing that grin would’ve run a mile. The blonde on the other hand cocked a hip to one side and put a confident fist on it, smirking right back just as wickedly, a hint of teeth showing. ”Well, sweetie, I’d be seriously disappointed if it went down any other way. But, between you and me? I’m going to kick your cute little butt.” Steph raised her other arm, clenched a fist, flexed her bicep playfully. Which might not be the right attitude to take, but… ”So, challenge accepted. I’ll see you at dawn, dearie.”
Oh, challenge so very much accepted.
Later, Steph’s giggle at what Duela had to say lacked any of the other girl’s obvious concern but then she wasn’t the one with ribs in potential jeopardy so maybe she wasn’t one to comment on that point. She was pretty sure that it would definitely be ‘try’ and crack the other girl’s ribs, of course, but she still wasn’t interested in trying even. ”Maybe I want to see if your insides are as interesting as your outsides,” She joked, before shaking her head. ”Nah, just kidding.”
And cherry!Duela made a swift return at the mention of the robe and the sauna, with Steph grinning angelically all the while. It was like she could see the idea sinking in, brain cell by brain cell, while she really, really, really didn’t need to be a telepath to know what the ‘I can’t meet your eyes’ thing meant. ”No comment here either,” She sing-songed back, ”But I guess we both know what you mean, huh? But dinnae fret, dearie. Not only don’t I mind, I used to have the same effect on Robin. Guess that puts you in pretty awesome company, huh?” Steph quirked her head, putting on her most adorable grin ever. Still, she definitely wasn’t done playing with the other girl’s head, given Duela didn’t even reply – she just… stumbled. Steph, in turn, kept right on smirking. Maybe it would be mean if she hadn’t meant every word.
But she wasn’t left with a tongue-tied Titan after her little display of her gymnastic talents. Instead she got applause, and Steph dipped into a little bow as Duela clapped gleefully. It wasn’t as elaborate as her last one, just a literal bow with spread arms, but it ended with Steph glancing up at the green-haired girl with a grin from under a (metaphorical) waterfall of golden locks. ”If you insist,” And, what a shock, she was grinning. And, even more of a shock, she was still grinning as she absorbed the latest comment to the effect of Duela trying hard not to talk.
Actually, to be fair to Steph, she had realised that they were flirting before. Goodness knew that it was absolutely obvious that they were flirting. Tim would have known they were flirting. What got her goat was the realisation that she was… maybe not acting as Batgirl should. And that was something that she ought to apologise for. She felt at least. And that left her skittish. Off balance, even. But she visibly relaxed as Duela pulled her into another hug, though she remained what she liked to think of as ‘adorably pink’ or just ‘adorkable’. Either worked for her. ”Oh God no!” She blurted out at the suggestion that she didn’t mean what she’d said. She’d meant every word. Luckily, her hands operated on automatic pilot, gathering D into the hug even as she stayed salmon pink. But adorably so, thank you.
The blonde chuckled at the statement that she was serious, nodding. Oh, she was serious. ”Pretty sure it’s not going to happen, sorry.” Steph said apologetically. ”It’s got what you might call… some non-standard features. I’m guessing you know what I mean.”
She gestured at the other door. ”Anyway, get in and let’s get a-waffling, bestest bud-o-mine…”
Steph’s smirk turned into a fully-fledged laugh in its turn as Duela promptly declared her unwillingness to leave this place. She couldn’t say she blamed her… But then Steph was the only one of the pair that knew that these were only the second best waffles in town. After her Mom’s, naturally. She ducked her head at the praise but said nothing – too busy eating her own waffles to reply to what was clearly a statement of the obvious. Totally obviously obvious. Still, hey, they were pretty awesome waffles. Just not as awesome as her Mom’s.
There was a moment’s pause. They ate, Steph pausing to add more syrup. She paused again though as Duela started to speak up, then stuttered and then carried on again. An eyebrow quirked up in interest at the mention of the safehouse and she nodded, agreeing that she knew what the other girl was talking about, leaning closer so that she could hear properly. And then she went right back again, blinking a touch owlishly as she processed that one. Because once again, she really hadn’t thought Duela was going to move that fast. Because that was really fast. And Steph was about to make a joke about just that when the Titan girl proceeded to explain.
Oh. Oh. Oh. That made a lot more sense. Steph went from jokey mode to sympathetic mode at the drop of a hat, slumping slightly. Sympathy flared in her eyes, but not pity. She knew enough to know that nobody liked to be pitied. But Steph was still sympathetic. And it wasn’t like she minded spending more time with the other girl. So the blonde smiled softly and nodded, stretching a hand out across the table, palm up and fingers slightly curled. ”Of course I’ll stay. We’ll have a sleepover. Though that means I’ll need to stop by home to grab some stuff first. If that’s ok? Then I’m all yours, you wicked, wicked girl.”

Duela pondered, for a moment, exactly what Steph had thought of that made her shake her head like that. It was cute, really. She couldn't imagine finding a better person to meet her, really, even if it was encouraging all kinds of conflicting emotions in Duela. But.. She could deal. Just being around the other girl helped; Her eyes narrowed in a tender manner when Steph suggested she wasn't quite the material Black Canary was made of but then went onto acknowledge that Duela would just encourage her anyway. "So it's been, what, five, ten minutes, tops, and I'm already that predictable?" Duela murmured with a self-deprecating smile firmly in place. If she was predictable, then... Well, at least it was for something good, she supposed. "So she... Doesn't take comments about her age well. Gotcha. That's.. Surprising, though. I guess I'd have to phrase anything I said in terms of how awesome she is. Probably is. Most likely is. I've never met her," Duela mused; Black Canary was one of those ones that everyone had heard of, though. "Still, my predictability aside, you should give the fishnets a shot. They'd look cool." And hot, of course, but Duela's obnoxiously varying levels of courage meant that she wasn't going to out and say something like that.
Not yet, anyway.
Her fretting about how lame she was quickly found itself shooed off by Steph essentially glomping her; The only reason she'd really pulled away was because she didn't want the other girl to feel awkward, but otherwise, Duela had been thoroughly enjoying that. It wasn't.. Well, no, scratch that thought, it hadn't even been 'a while' since she'd gotten a hug like that. Probably not since she'd been a part of the Titans the first time round, or before that, her dad. And that was.. Heh, well, it was a little bit depressing to say the least. So to have Steph actually hold on a little bit longer? It did wonders for Duela, really. She hadn't even known this girl for that long, and she'd already made her feel wanted, and she'd already made Duela so comfortable. The green-haired girl didn't even blush at the nose-rubbing, but there just might have been a little "Eep!" of excitement that emerged from the proximity and just how adorable her new friend was. "Well, sign me up for another one of those," she remarked happily when it came to persuading Steph to snuggle her again like that. And her grin was equally happy when that damned confidence level suddenly surged back up to allow her to challenge the awesome blonde's assertion that she was going to kick her butt. Still, Duela was genuinely impressed; "Wow, you're really into this. You're so on, though," she replied, not-at-all admiring the manner in which Steph flexed a muscle. Not. At. All.
When it came to the slightly precarious position of being between the other girl's legs, Duela actually found herself chuckling, despite her slight nervousness, at Steph's line of reasoning for wanting to see her insides. Whilst she didn't need to breathe a sigh of relief at the fact Steph was joking, that was pretty funny; "Somehow I get the feeling my insides would be pretty dull and average, for the most part; I'm considering gettin' a pinata upgrade so.. Well, maybe you can break me open then for some candy," she suggested playfully, realising that there were some potentially embarrassing ways such lines could be interpreted, and again - this was surely the millionth time already - Duela's cheeks took on that dusky pink tone. Steph really was far, far too innocent looking to be the one proposing the things she was, though; If you looked at the two of them, Duela imagined most might thing such comments would come from her, but.. Well, she wasn't really going to complain about the blonde's far-too-devilish attitude. She was, however, going to complain to herself silently for falling for a woman that she wasn't good enough for in the slightest. Honestly, she didn't feel worthy of being in the same company as Robin, as Steph had put it, which was partly the reason Duela hadn't responded to that line at all. She'd fallen rough and hard for Steph Brown, and.. Well, she didn't hate it, but she was cursing herself for it.
She, after all, wasn't as good as Robin. She knew that.
Again, Steph herself proved to be a sufficient cure for such worries, as much as said worries were about Steph; Duela couldn't help but applaud at the pretty spectacular dismount, and then dousing said worries by telling her she had meant what she said; Duela couldn't really imagine that Steph had fallen for her as much as she had Steph, but it was just.. Well, nice to hear something like that. Duela had already been led up the garden path before, so to speak, with entirely different expectations, and she'd been more than just a little disappointed. She wasn't going to heap pressure on Steph because of that, but it was just nice to know the blonde actually cared and wasn't messing her around, and as such? Duela actively buried herself in the hug. "Well, thanks. I just.. Well, this is cool," she murmured as thanks, not wanting to spill her heart out just yet, but it was just pleasant, really. Maybe she could be good enough for the other girl after all, but Duela still wasn't getting her hopes up.
She knew how she looked, after all, and needy as it made her seem, Duela didn't think any amount of compliments could make her feel good about the face-splitting scars she now sported.
Wow. That got remarkably heavy remarkably fast. As such, she was more than happy to get a switch-up in the conversation, grinning sadly as Steph kindly let her down gently on the idea of getting her own compact; "Yeah, kinda figures... I think all I'd get from him would be lectures. Like 'ARE YOU UP TO DATE WITH YOUR ROAAAAD SAFETYYYYY!'" Duela joked, her voice becoming a gruff bellow as she once more mocked Batman. Yes, she was going to Bat-Hell for it, but.. Well, she could only take the Dark Knight semi-seriously, if she was being honest. Granted, she'd be scared of him if he was an enemy. Musing to herself, she blinked back to alertness as Steph told her to get in. Stowing her bag, she nodded.
Again, waffles HO!!
Again, this was like some kind of paradise, really. Waffles. Bacon. Milk. Warm surroundings. And Steph Brown. All added up to why Duela could happily stay here forever and not really even want to leave. Why would she want to? Hell, it was enough to make her consider dropping her membership in the Titans and just becoming something alliterative and involving waffles; "Waffle Warriors?" she mumbled to herself under her breath, "No, that's stupid, even for me." Still... Yeah. This place reeked of heaven. She'd probably never had better company. Or better waffles. It was amazing how some things brightened your day.
And then Duela went and embarrassed herself by talking about the safehouse as if, at first, she was exclusively interested in Steph's company; Don't get her wrong, she absolutely was - again, Steph was, like, the pivotal piece of this waffle-paradise thing - but Duela just wasn't really ready to confess that just yet. Not nearly brave enough to just out and say it - and she could tell that was what Steph was thinking she was going to do. So make that two embarrassments in the space of about as many sentences, when Duela finally laid down why she didn't want to be alone - reasoning entirely different than her lusting after Steph. To her credit, the blonde didn't immediately start looking at her like she was a pitiful whiner or a wimp, and.. Well, Duela appreciated the sympathy. Interlacing her fingers with Steph after a moment's thought, Duela smiled as the blonde agreed to stay. "Thanks. I.. Well, I hate seeming weak, but.. Eh. I can't help it, so I might as well be up front about it," she mused, shrugging slightly as her gaze met Steph's. She wasn't sure it did make her weak, really, but.. Well, she just felt it, sometimes. Still, she happily nodded along with Steph's saying she'd need to get some stuff from home.
"So, a bit of a patrol and a sleepover, huh? Sounds like a pre-tty awesome evening. What did I do to deserve a host as awesome as yourself, Stephanie Brown? Because according to you? I'm wicked, apparently," she queried with a mock-offended look on her face...
