”Come on!” a man growled as he dragged a teenage girl with him; his arm wrapped around her in a chokehold. The girl cried silently as she felt the tip of the man’s weapon press against the skin of her neck. The only thoughts going through the girl’s mind were silent pleas for help. 'Please… please… someone save me.' as she was forced to walk forward into the mouth of an alleyway. The girl’s fear mounted as she realized just what this man was going to do to her.
Unknown to both victim and wound-be killer someone was watching. A ghost was watching and continued to watch for a moment more. Watching as the man wrapped his hand around her throat and held the knife up to her throat, near her windpipe, just under his hand, before the ghost turned around and went to find his jailer.
It hadn’t taken the ghost long to find the Ghost Fox Killer who was just disposing of a group, a gang of evil men, if the new additions to their services were anything to go by and the woman was still clenching and unclenching her hands around her Jade Spirit Guns, a habit she had devolved while here in the United States. ”Speak.” the woman cloaked in green demanded when the ghost who had seen the murder in progress appeared a few feet behind the woman. The ghost hesitated for a moment before he spoke. “There’s a murder in progress in an alleyway, Ghost Fox Killer.” the ghost said. The young woman suppressed a shiver of disgust. Murder… one of the vilest crimes a man could commit, right under rape or at least that was what she believed. She gave her head a slight shake; she had to remind herself that even women were guilty of rape and murder as well. 'What a corrupt world these people live in.' she thought as she snapped herself out of her thoughts and back to the present. She glanced at the ghost out of the corner of her eye, “Show me.” Ghost Fox Killer ordered as she spun around on her heel and walked towards the wall of an out-of-business bar, where the men had fruitlessly tried to hide from her before she phased right through it and once her feet hit solid ground took off down the deserted streets, the ghost led the way for her.
The ghost led her right to the alleyway and she narrowed her eyes. The girl had a knife held up to her throat and the man whirled around to face the woman clad in green, clearly spooked. The girl wasn’t in a choke hold anymore but she was still being restrained. The man had his larger arm wrapped around her shoulders and chest while the other hand held the knife up to her throat, the tip pressed lightly against the fail skin, applying just enough pressure to make the skin of his victim's neck break and bleed.
Ghost took a step forward but the man retaliated by taking a step back and screaming at her. ”TAKE ONE MORE STEP AND SHE’S DEAD!” . Ghost Fox Killer raised an eyebrow which was hidden behind her green hood that shadowed her eyes. “This guy’s... not bluffing...” she murmured only loud enough for her and the ghost to hear, who responded by shaking his head and murmuring a 'Typical'. The Ghost Fox Woman raised her hand -that held her gun- at the man’s head and without hesitation pulled the trigger.
The mystic glowing green bullet sailed through the air, cutting through the air and embedding itself right into the man’s forehead, dead center. The knife fell from the dead man’s grasp as he fell over sideways brining the girl down with him, who was still being held by the now deceased man. The girl shrieked, startled and terrified by what had just happened. Then again wouldn’t you be freaked out if your savior just shot someone? Ghost shook her head and walked over toward the dead body and the victim. She kicked the knife away and kneeled down to the girl’s level. “Are you alright?” she asked as she pried the still warm arms from the girl so that she could move and get away from the body. The girl wasted no time in leaping away from her would-be-killer and her savior. The girl stared at her savior scared and awed at the same time but that awe and fear evaporated into anger as she realized just what would have happened if the woman would have missed that shot. Her gratitude was completely gone within the span of ten seconds. The teenaged girl glared at the woman dressed in green. “Are you crazy?! You could have killed me!”. Ghost rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t have missed. And the proper response to someone who just saved your life would be ‘Thank You’.” She said her voice cold. Now it was the girl’s turn to roll her eyes. “Thank you, gun lady.” she said her voice dripping in sarcasm. Ghost easily caught the sarcasm but decided to respond as if she hadn’t heard it just to catch the girl off guard, but just as she opened her mouth to respond the sound of police sirens filled the empty air and the woman snapped her lips closed, rolled her eyes and pocketed her guns thinking ‘Finally!’
Ghost took one last look at the victim and saw her distracted by the police sirens which were getting closer by the second and phased through the wall of alleyway and out of sight just as the police cars screeched to a stop and a small band of four police officers rushed onto the scene.
The woman sighed softly as her feet touched the ground. She could hear traces of faint conversation from behind the brick wall she had just phased from but could not make out the words, not that she cared to. It wasn’t her problem, at least not anymore it wasn’t. Ghost Fox Killer walked away from the brick wall and took to the deserted sidewalks and moved onto her next target, whoever that was. It would depend what information her ghosts informed her of. She had left her jade lion statues back at her rented apartment, knowing that they would only cause her to be recognized by the Justice League or some other hero or heroine who knew her from Hong Kong. She glanced at the ghost who was still walking next to her, waiting for her orders. “Continue on with the search.” She ordered and the ghost wasted no time in quickly fading out of sight. She picked up her pace a slight bit, antsy and eager to get moving as far away from the crime scene as she could get without outright fleeing from the scene.
Suddenly she sensed movement behind her and whirled around the sudden movement causing the hood of her cloak to fall down and reveal a pair of masked eyes, Chinese features, and long, mid length black hair which was pulled into a single ponytail. In pure instinct her hands flew to her jade spirit guns and pulled the guns from their hidden pockets and pointed them at the shadows in front of her. Her fingers on the triggers as she gripped the guns tightly, her eyes narrowing into the shadows that were caused by the stray streetlamp she had paused under when she has sensed someone behind her. “Show yourself! If you don’t... you're just going to be in an earlier grave!” She spat out a warning. It was the only warning anyone would get and if they didn’t follow it, then a barrage of bullets are what they’d get in retaliation.
