New York City held many great secrets and promises of a better day tomorrow. Not to mention it was a city that never slept and if a person wanted to disappear what better place than here; that was why Cheshire love it. The city was the best place to find people, kill them, and disappear; that was something that Cheshire did best. Not to mention she always had work here, that is if she let people know she was back in the United States and open for business. Right now that wasn't the case, she wasn't out to make money, she wasn't even out to let people know she as back, she was after the man who had left her to rot in a prison and to take back her daughter.
Alright Cheshire had been able to hunt down and incapacitated Nightwing; Roy's best friend; but he had no real information. She wasn't sure if he just was playing dumb in order to save Roy for Cheshire if he truly didn't know; though it didn't matter he would pay for his lack of information or lying to her in time. For in the end when she was done with him, she would kill him; because there was no point to keep him alive when he was of no use to her anymore.
The other good part about New York City was the fact that almost every criminal in the world made their way here at one point or another. so with your ear to the ground in the right spots, and you could easily find out who had arrived, and tonight a person Cheshire would love to have a conversation with had shown up. Rose, the daughter of the crazy Deathstroke, was here in New York; what the reason was Cheshire didn't know nor did she care. Her interested in Rose was for the mere fact that she had once been in charge of caring for Lian when Roy was out on a mission; so Cheshire had to wonder if she had information on her daughter or her ex lover.
So tonight as Cheshire hit the streets she wasn't out looking to cause death, in fact she had only taken a few of her choice weapons with her, for she wanted only to chat. Granted as with dealing with people of her kind there was always a chance that the two would start off fighting before talking; that was just who they where attack first and ask after. So tonight Cheshire would have to come in a little carefully, but not in a threaten way. Though the first thing she would have to do was to find out where Rose was currently working or staying.

There probably weren’t that many people around who wanted to be found by Cheshire. In fact, Rose Wilson was pretty sure they’d be counted on the fingers of one hand… even after that hand had a nasty accident and lost half its fingers. Admittedly, there were plenty of people who wanted to find the smirking assassin, but in Rose’s world, there was a huge difference between finding someone and them finding you – particularly when the lady involved was Cheshire. It didn’t bother her much, but then almost nothing bothered her these days. Did she think she was invincible? Hell no. She wasn’t, and she knew it. Was she one of the most dangerous people in town? Very much so, and while Rose knew Chesh’s reputation was well earned, she wasn’t called the Ravager for nothing.
Still, normally, Rose was fairly sure that she’d rather find the assassin than the other way around. Fair fights were for suckers, losers and times when she knew she was going to win, and any fight where the other person was using thirty seven types of poison that could stop even her heart with two scratches wasn’t what she regarded as a good place to start. If she’d been in town on business and looking for Cheshire, then she would have been careful about making sure that she was the one who saw Jade Nguyen before Jade saw her. Having a team of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. mercs in place with sniper rifles and all sorts of other fun kit would have just been sensible. But she wasn’t here for N.O.W.H.E.R.E. She was here because she had history with Cheshire. To be more exact, she had history with the woman’s daughter.
Rose Wilson was in New York because she wanted to be found.
Before she’d left the Titans, Rose had done some babysitting for Lian Harper, Cheshire’s daughter. She’d looked after the girl and, while she hadn’t been old enough for Rose to even consider them to be ‘close’, she thought of Lian as fondly as she thought of anyone these days. The fact that they both had one decent parent and one scummy waste of space didn’t hurt. Typically, of course, it was the scummy waste of space she had to meet.
The trouble was simple. It turned out that Rose’s current employers wanted Lian and they wanted her daddy too. In the latter case, the white haired woman couldn’t care less. Red Arrow was a big boy now and he could take care of himself, while the part of her that liked a challenge couldn’t help but wonder how a fight with him would go.
Badly.
For him.
But then she’d never lacked for confidence or for ability.
Anyway, being sent after Red Arrow didn’t bother her, except in one particular way. When it came to kids though, Rose drew a line. She wasn’t going to let her bosses get their hands on Lian Harper but she couldn’t exactly blow the mission, mess it up or anything like that either. No, Lian couldn’t be there when the team came for her. The obvious answer was to tell Roy. Fine, but then she’d have blown her position with the Bad Guys to all the heroes out there, which (while Rose had no problem burning bridges) would come back to haunt her later. Same went for tipping him anonymously. The guy wouldn’t rest until he knew who had told him and that led back to the same problem.
Still, there was someone who she could tell, who would do something about it and leave Rose free to do what she had to do to find her own mother. All of which led her right back to New York. She’d gone around, roughing up all of Slade’s old pals she could find on general principle and mentioned Jade, hoping that it would get Cheshire interested enough to come find her. And that was why she was dressed in jeans and t-shirt tonight, the outfit hiding a couple of knives, as she waited patiently on a given rooftop for Chesh to find her. Hopefully, it wouldn’t take the assassin much longer. She was getting bored again.

There was really no way for Cheshire to know that Rose was waiting for her, that she had let it slip in town that she was here for Cheshire to find her. Heck Cheshire didn't even know how or why Rose would believe her to be in New York when most of the world thought her locked away in some jail somewhere; thanks to Roy. Though the villain community had a funny way of finding out things before the heroes did; maybe it was because of the rose colored glasses that they all seemed to wear.
Since Rose was willing to be found, it wasn't hard for Cheshire to track Rose down. Though Rose didn't make it very easy because it would cause red flags to go up for Cheshire; like she was stepping into a trap; all though if Cheshire would really stop and think about it for a moment she would realize that this was way too easy. It wasn't a good thing normally when Cheshire was hunting you down, for it meant that you're life was soon to hit a dead end. That was unless you could buy your way out of it somehow; but normally she would just take your money and kill you anyway.
Cheshire had a respect for Rose, she was one bad person that you didn't want to mess with though she had a soft spot. In a very small way, like dust particle small, they where alike in that way; both where not someone to mess with and their soft spot was for a little girl named Lian. That was her reason for seeking out the once baby sitter of her young daughter, for Cheshire was sure Rose knew where Roy was currently at or where he was keeping Lian.
A few roof tops away Cheshire stopped as she spotted the person she had been looking for. Ducking down into the shadows Cheshire crouched there for a moment to study Rose; it was a habit that she did for everyone she was hunting. She would study the person out for a moment, to see if they were alone or if it was the perfect time to make herself known. For some targets it she would take a few days to study them out, learning their every move and when the best time to strike was. This was different, she wasn't out to hurt or kill Rose, she just wanted to talk but she wanted to make sure there was no one else. After all Cheshire wasn't ready for most people to know that she was back in town yet, there was after all time for that when she was ready.
After about ten minutes of watching Rose, Cheshire was sure that the woman was alone. Now all she needed to do was make herself known in a way that she didn't start an all out fight between the two of them. So in a very unlike Cheshire way, she started moving toward the roof that Rose was hanging out on; making some noise as she went to alert the other woman. After her final jump onto the roof with Rose, Cheshire called out in a normal tone. "It's a pleasure to see you again, Rose."
