Shadow Thief continued to put the artifacts in his bag for safe keeping. He was just about ready to leave and wouldn't you know it the damn bird was coming this way.
"Come closer so I can break those wings of yours."
He sneered and turned his body and with a twist of the device on his waist he became visable but he was ready to turn it on at the last few moments to better confuse the little birdie. It was time to break those wings of hers.
He had her right where he wanted her, alone and soon he'd have her broken under him a great feat it would be indefinantly.
---- Lian had kept her mouth wisely shut and had let Kendra leave without saying much about it or picking a fight. She wanted her dad and she'd have him soon, she just had to be careful and not allow them to loose focus.
She distracted herself with putting the image of Hawkgirl over Kendra and seeing that it was true, it was possible they were close in build and height and no one else knew her name, so it just had to be her.
"Look who's out here all alone, a dumb little girl aren't you?"
The chuckled words had youthful blue eyes watching as a man that had a large bulldog head climbing up clumsily onto the building she was standing on. Her hands curled and she gave him a nasty glare.
"I'm not the one who can't seem to get a footing to make it all the way up here."
Lian countered back with a look that would make her mother proud.
---- Roy rolled out of the way as a massive fist smashed into wear he'd just been. His eyes narrowed and another arrow sailed through the air, hitting its intended mark.
He watched the man lumber forward, and throw his leg back getting ready to rush him like this was a football game and he the line defenseless quarter back with the ball.
As he pulled another arrow from his quail, he took notice of which one it was and grinned a little bit, as he pulled the string back and watched as it hit the ground between large feet and the explosion of smoke outward, that was beginning to give Roy a better advantage now that his enemy would be having trouble seeing.

Hawkgirl could tell someone was there, though she couldn't fully see them, but she could see the times in the dig site being picked up and then disappearing; that wasn't a natural thing. Nor was it something that a spirit on another worldly plain would be able to do it. So it was clear that someone was in there and was stealing all the hard work that her team had uncovered in the last few days.
As Hawkgirl flew closer and closer she didn't know where she would have to aim but she wasn't really sure where to aim. That was until a body formed before her, it was a man and he was holding a bag that was already half full of the treasures that this dig site held. With a man now in site she was able to pin point where she was going to hit him, and so Hawkgirl flew in closer.
As she flew Hawkgirl's vision was on the man before her, and she had tuned out what was going on around her. Not that she would be able to hear the conversation that was exchanged between the little girl Lian and devil dog. The little girl was on Hawkgirl's mind though but she fought to keep her mind on what she was doing, for she was sure Lian was alright. Again she forced her mind to pay attention as she flew closer, for if she let herself get side track it would cost her dearly. Hawkgirl would just have to check on the little girl after thrashing this man who was taking all of her hard work. So with her mace held up higher, Hawkgirl came closer to Shadow Theif.
---- Arrow in the leg, mean pain and pain meant angry and must crush whatever cause this pain. It didn't take Elephantman to find the source for which his pain come from, the little red bug. Taking his massive fist he brought it down upon Red Arrow's head, or where it was; but the little ant was able to roll out of the way. So the massive man moved forward and another shot of pain rush from his leg, looking down there was another arrow sticking out of his leg. Letting out a scream of anger, Elephantman stumbled slightly and than ready himself to run at Speedy.
Two steps was all he got out when the world around him went black, unable to see Elephantman man cried out and started to swing at anything and everything; hopping to hit the little knit that was Red Arrow.

While the smoke helped him to allow his opponent the absence of his sight, it also didn't help himself any. The Smoke was heavy and thick, thick enough that his simply mask did nothing to help him see him. The noise and stomping were enough to help keep him well aware of where not to tread, but the flailing of his arms didn't help him. All they did was hinder him, as one blow nearly nailed his nose and he'd by sheer luck been just an inch away from the blow. His nose would be on the other side of his face if that blow had landed.
Red Arrow stepped back and back tracked away from the freak and out of the smoke to allow him some actually view of what he'd need to do with this man. He needed to knock him down and he needed to do it hard, but first he knew he needed a height advantage, and looked around for something could give him what he needed. He found that in the form a tall oak tree.
Without giving it much thought he slid his bow on his back and sprinted for the tree, his arms easily pulling himself up into the branches as he carefully straddled a thicker branch so he could pull his arrow from his back and pull back the string, his eyes narrowed on a large point of the man's mass. His chest was a mighty big mark. The arrow he let fly sailed without much noise if any towards his target. The highly explosive arrow would detonate with an impact any impact with its head.
-------
Shadow Thief looked up to easily watch Hawkgirl come closer to him, he laughed to himself. He couldn’t help how she was easily falling into his trap, making his desires all that easier to fulfill. It was humorous to him. His hands itched to get a good hand on those wings and tear them from her body.
He watched as the sun caught her shadow making it glide into the pit and straight towards him. Just what he needed, this would make his job all the easier. He moved his own foot coming into easy contact with her shadow.
At the contact the dark figure of her shadow came up from the ground, its form solidifying and flapping her shadow wings and hovering above the ground looking at Shadow Thief and then up towards her real self . “Go on attack her. Ground her, do as you’re told.”
At the command the shadow of Hawkgirl seemed to hesitate a moment before with one mighty flap of her wings was speeding up to meet Kendra in midair her mace raised in her right hand and ready to swing at her.
--------
Lian watched with a grand growing worry as the crazy freak finally managed to pull himself up on the roof, if he wasn’t out to hurt her, she might have found him hilarious in a harmless big dumb brute sort of way. She frowned, her teeth sinking into her lower lip. She hadn’t usually had to face down enemies before, and this was her first encounter. The man was massive in a not nice sort of way.
She took a small step back, but then decided against it. She took back her step she’d taken and took two forward towards him. Her small hands balled into fists. She cast a look behind her and saw that bother her father and Hawkgirl were busy fighting, and she was on her own. That was new for her; she’d never really been alone until now at least when she had to face down a bad guy. Usually someone was always here, Roy or one of his teammates, but they were both a ways away and they wouldn’t get here in time and it was far too high for her to try and get down on her own, she’d slip and fall and fall to her death. She swallowed loudly and looked at Devil dog.
“Come here little girl, and I promise I won’t hurt you.”
He said lumbering towards her, his massive arms held wide to easily sweep her up into a bear hug. He’d easily crush her.
Lian’s face contorted into a look of contempt, a natural look she inherited from her mother, her nose wrinkled and the words spilled from her mouth before she could stop them. Her eyes held defiance even though there was a bit of fear behind those lovely, lively blue eyes.
“Do I look stupid to you? You just stay over there and I’ll stay right here. My mom’s coming to get me; she’ll knock you on your butt if you lay one finger on me.”
It was a bluff, a bluff Devildog didn’t care to heed, he was so lucky her mother wasn’t here to save her, he’d be so sorry. She ducked under his arms, her little legs carrying her past him, one thing that lumbering buffoon lacked, was the one thing Lian could use against him and hopefully hold off long enough for someone to help her.
“You missed ugly!”
”You little minx, just wait till I catch you!”

Swinging, coughing, and cursing that was the pattern that Elphantman had fallen into since he couldn't see anything. The little arrow had done a good job in blinding him and now he didn't know where the little bug was hiding or where to swing. So he did what he knew, hit thing that where in front of him. So he stumbled forward swinging his fist in every which way, hitting many things but yet no human body. He didn't know that Red Arrow had disappeared from where he had fired the arrow, nor did he know that arrow was having a hard time seeing as well.
The snap of a tree limb gave away where the little Red Arrow was possibly hiding, so turning toward that direction Elphantman stumbled forward; swing his arms like a crazy person trying to ride themselves of a fly. His hope was to either clear the darkness from his eyes or to smack Red Arrow so hard that it would make his grandfather dizzy. It was as he moved forward that something sharper pierced his middle section, he had only a moment to look down before an explosion hit him in the face. Blowing him back for a second, well enough to cause him to stumble backwards and fall on his butt. A rage of frustration and anger filled the air as blood started to seep out of the wound. Red Arrow had made a good hit, and now he would pay for it with his life. With one hand holding his gaping wound, Elphantman tried to stand up again.
------- Hawkgirl kept her eyes on Shadow Thief, but she didn't know was she flown closer that he had a plan. The sun was blocked out by her for a moment, casting a shadow which was all that the thief needed. With just a move of his foot he was able to trap her shadow and make it come to life. Hawkgirl didn't notice this, nor did she notice her shadow coming to life until something dark was flying at her. By the time Hawkgirl realized that it was her shadow and that it was a solid figure, the two collided in the air. the collision caused Hawkgirl to be pushed back in the hair, holding her mace in both hands to block the attack from the shadow's mace, and right into the side of a building.
With a great push, Hawkgirl was able to push the shadow off her and fly right at it. It was a bird fight in the air and since this was Hawkgirl's own shadow the dark figure knew her movies; just like Hawkgirl knew hers. So the fight went on though each one didn't make a real blow, for the other was ready to block it. If Hawkgirl was going to win this, the shadow would either have to make a mistake or Hawkgirl would have to come up with something fast.

Roy knew that his time was short, he had only a few options and none of them were ideally what he wanted to do. He saw Elephantman coming towards the tree he was in and he frowned. He let his hand move up towards his quiver and pulled two arrows from his pack and placing the arrows in his bow and pulling back the string. He let another explosive arrow fly, aiming for the man’s knees. He knew he needed to keep the man from walking and that was what he was going to do. It was his life and he wasn’t about to lose his, Lian needed him.
He let the arrows fly at Elphantman, watching as the arrows hit their target. He shifted his stance in the tree and moved down it, swinging from the branch to land on his feet. He moved heading for the man in the shadows that he saw down in the excavation site.
He reached the site and bent his knees as he was carried down into the site with the help of the moving dirt. He stayed on his feet with the help of years of practice. He had his arrow raised and ready to fire at the man who was at the bottom of the cavern. Roy saw that Hawkgirl was fight above him and she seemed to fighting her shadow how crazy was that?
Shadow Thief saw that the man known as Red Arrow was coming towards him. He hissed out his annoyance and raised his hand to try and catch Roy’s shadow, but the sun was against him and held the man’s shadow behind him and well out of his reach.
He wasn’t sure what to do with the hero, but he’d figure out what he needed to do soon. He turned his head towards the Shadow Hawkgirl as her mace was raised to meet Hawkgirl’s own. She felt the pull of Shadow Thief, and arched her back flapping her wings and pushing backward and shooting down towards the ground to intercept Roy.

Elephantman lumbered toward where he believes Roy was hiding, pain running threw his body mixed with anger. He was going to smash that little red hero and grind him up to the ground; that however was a plan that wouldn't happen. For as the large monster moved toward his target, Red Arrow had another plan; with a few more arrows fired at the right spot the game was over and Elephantman went down.
Hawkgirl on the other hand wasn't having as much luck with her shadow as Roy did with the large Elephantman. The two of them was clearly an equal match, most because they were the same person; well sort of. Hawkgirl had to really think on her feet, not to mention block every blow. It was at one point when the shadows turn in the middle of attacking Hawkgirl and started to fly toward the ground. For a moment Hawkgirl just floated there, catching her breath and trying to figure out why the shadow would turn in mid attack and fly away.
On the ground below her, Red Arrow was heading toward the thief that Hawkgirl had first noticed at the dig site. The shadow of herself however was headed right toward Red Arrow, to stop him from reaching the Shadow Thief; Hawkgirl couldn't let this happen. It was time the two of them worked together now, she would take care of her own shadow and he would have to take care of the thief. Quickly speeding toward the Earth, Hawkgirl went after the shadow of herself. As she got closer and closer Hawkgirl raised her mace, and at the right moment when she was right behind the shadow, Hawkgirl swung the mace hard and knocked it on the side of the shadow's head.
The hit was hard enough that it caused the shadow of Hawkgirl to fly off course and toward the grown. Hawkgirl didn't end her chase there, she followed the falling shadow to the ground; hitting the shadow once again to fully knock it down. She was done with this mess, there was no way she was going to let a shadow of herself kick her around; there was only one Hawkgirl now and Kendra was her. So with one more hit, the shadow laid still for a moment before sinking back into the ground. Turning Hawkgirl started running back toward the dig site to help Red Arrow, they had to end this fight now than it would be time to rejoin father and daughter; and Kendra would be able to find out what damage had been caused.

Roy was more than happy to find himself clear of the charging black shadow. He frowned, and moved his arrow moving to slice through the air and towards his target. He was not happy to see that he'd somehow missed him. That didn't happen often. He knew the man had been there a moment ago and now he was conveniently gone that didn't make any sense. He frowned and turned around in a slow circle his bow ready and his arrow pulled back ready to fire.
He looked up over his head, seeing Hawkgirl, the shadow thief twisted out of the shadows or however he disappeared and brought his hands that were clasped together on the back of Red Arrow’s head; the blow was hard enough to knock him out for a few second. He had been about to turn around and fire at him, but he’d nailed him before he could react, his mind was no on this fight, not it was on his daughter. He hadn’t been unconscious long, just long enough to be disoriented when he came too, and another punch landed on the side of his face, connecting with his cheek. He felt his fingers, they were numb; he would need a few more seconds before he’d be able to act.
Shadow Thief grinned and pulled his fist back ready to swing again, he knew Red Arrow was coming around. Even his chuckle couldn’t drown out the scream that cut through the air, and made Roy’s heart stop beating in his chest.
Lian…Lian…hold on baby, I’m coming…
Dog face, looked at the screaming, withering little girl in his massive grasp. He grinned, his fingers tightening a little bit more on her face, the way his massive hand curled around the front of her face, his digits digging into the pressure points behind her ears as he held her off the ground in front of him. His grip was bruising. “I told you, I’d catch you little girl!” he growled, his hand trailing down her arm from her elbow and over her fist curled hand, she’d wisely not tried to raise it to grip his wrist, that would have only angered him.
She sucked in another breath of air, her nose pressed against his palm, and all she could smell was his sweat, and his the rest of his body odor, she hand the strong urge to vomit, but knew it was in her best interest to cover his hand, all it would do was get back on herself.
“Daaddyy!” she wailed as loud as she could. “Daddy help me!”
Roy’s vision was coming back to him; he didn’t think he just reacted, his hand curled around the arrow that had scattered across the ground, its point sticking into the sand making it stand straight up. He pulled it up from the ground, the wooden body gripped in his hand as he brought it close to him, as he flexed his arm pushing forward as the arrow head dug into the side of the man on top of him, breaking through layers of skin, imbedding itself deep inside his enemy, as he saw red.
“Ahhaaarrggg!” the Shadow Thief gave a scream, his hands moving to curl around the arrow that stuck out of his side, as blood poured from the wound.

The shadow of Hawkgirl fought well, but unlike the real Hawkgirl it didn't have the chance to change or to think for itself. This was the reason Hawkgirl was able to take the shadow down and out, though to see a form of herself laying on the ground not moving didn't really give her a good feeling. In fact it felt as if it was a bad omen of things that might to come, causing a shutter down Hawkgirl's spine. It was almost a shame to see the form lying still on the ground. This felling however was short lived as a scream of a child ripped through the air, the scream of young Lian calling for her father.
Hawkgirl looked at the direction where the little was, and fear gripped her for she had been sure the area where she had placed Lian was safe but by that scream there was something there after all. Hawkgirl then turned and saw Red Arrow locked in combat, well really him laying on the ground. Hawkgirl raised her mace and was about to come to his aid when the Shadow Thief let out a groan and feel to the side, and arrow stuck in his flesh.
There was no rest for the tired now, the two of them needed to get to Lian and quickly. Hooking her mace back to her belt she went running toward Red Arrow, halfway there she took flight though flying low to the ground. "Hold on tight." She walled grapping him and lifting him into the sky with her. It took a little while for her to get some height, after all she wasn't used to flying with added weight but she couldn't think of any other way to get there quickly. With the help of her Nth metal belt Hawkgirl was able to carry a little more than she would normally but she wasn't Superman, and Red Arrow wasn't a small person. So her muscle screamed at her with the added weight and all she could was fly as quickly as she could and tried not to drop him.
Before they were really close to the building that Hawkgirl had taken Lian too, she could see the massive figure of the monster that held the little girl in his hand. There was really no time to waist Lian needed her father now, and Hawkgirl wasn't about to let the little girl suffer from this beast. "Get ready." Hawkgirl called as she flew up the building and dropped him on the top of the building roof. Hawkgirl landed behind the monster, her mace held and ready for attack.

To his credit, Roy was well aware of his weaknesses and as always he knew what his most biggest one just so happened to be his daughter. He was rolling to his feet and ignoring the pain in his leg from a lucky shot. He began his climb up the sandy slope as he made it to the top he looked around for Lian.
His heart leached when he didn't see her in the general vicinity of his location. He looked around wildly, his blue eyes wide behind his mask as his body tensed. As he looked toward the sound of screams and snarled at the sheer distance between himself and her location and the fact she was on a roof and he had little to no way of getting to her quickly enough.
He didn't have much time to steady himself as he was suddenly lifted up off his feet and he was gaining air as he looked up over his shoulder to see that Hawkgirl had grabbed a hold of him under his arms and was flying him to his daughters location. She couldn't possibly know much about him, as he'd been absent from the League for some time.
He listened as she told him she was about to drop him. He braced himself, allowing his body to fall and roll into a stance with his knee braced and his bow drawn with the arrow pulled back, the string taunt.
"Put her down, NOW!"
The words came out snarled and full of a dark rage, the face of Red Arrow was contorted, and full of anger, he looked murderous as though he wasn't against taking the man's life who attempted to harm his daughter, his little girl.
The mutant's face pulled up into a smirk as he watched Red Arrow the hero come to the child's rescue. He wasn't very smart and he looked at him to the girl as he attempted to connect the dots, if this Hero was really this little girls father. He considered if he wanted to make Red Arrow his enemy for life. He could do with the credit this would give him in regards to the other villains of the world. He tightened his hold on the little girls head, watching the way his fingers curled around her neck as he squeezed a little bit and watched Red Arrow.
Roy's face darkened and he didn't consider his actions he merely let the arrow fly, and was already running towards the two. The arrow pierced the beasts flesh through and through as the man barked out a scream and abruptly let the girl fall to the floor, he ignored how Red Arrow had slid across the room, the young girl falling against his chest as he slid between the men's legs.
Red Arrow's arms enfolded Lian in his arms as he slid on his back, he reached out his hand and grasped the ledge as he and Lian went over the edge of the roof. He took a break and let them hang there a moment as he heard the Dogman jump up and down in agony.
He started to pull himself carefully up back onto the roof, Lian had passed out and he had yet to fully take a look at her and see if she had any lasting damage. He was sure Hawkgirl was turning around to get the guy and more power to her, that man wasn't his top concern anymore.

Hawkgirl judged the distance and speed at which she was going quickly, before she let Red Arrow go. Warning him was just half of it, if she let him go at the wrong moment he could hurt himself or would just fall and roll into harm's way. Quickly doing the math once again, she prayed she was right and let her grip on him go. Once her hands were free from his wait, Hawkgirl flew up into the air, taking her mace in her hand. When she felt she had gotten high enough Kendra stopped and turned around, looking down at the scene before her. Again she calculated in her head the angle and speed to which she would need, not to mention she would have to wait just a moment for Roy to get Lian to safety. There was nothing she could do until the little girl was safe, for is she flew in now to attack the monster Lian could and would become hurt or even worse. Kendra watched with keen eyes as Roy shot an arrow, while he was running toward the brute. He had planned everything out carefully, shooting the man in the right spot causing him to drop the young child to which Roy was able to catch before she hit the ground. All this was done in just a matter of seconds, and Kendra would being lying if she stated that she wasn’t somewhat empress. His slide however was a little over done as it almost ended them over the building, but he had been able to quickly recover before that, freeing Hawkgirl up from saving them and giving her the chance to attack the monster. Hawkgirl’s flatten close to her back, giving her great speed for gravity was taking over and she was latterly falling toward the ground. As she got closer she opened her wings and swung her mace, making it connect to the side of the monster head who wasn’t expecting her attack for he had been too busy looking for Red Arrow and the little girl. Kendra however didn’t’ let up from this one hit, no she swung again and again until he started to falter. It didn’t take long until he was knocked around enough to cause him to lose his foot and trip off the side of the building and down to the ground below. The battle was over and their foes where gone, Hawkgirl landed on the roof for a brief moment, to make sure than remembering Roy and Lian she turned to go help the two, happy to see that they had manage to get back onto the roof safely. “Is she alright.” Hawkgirl asked with concern as she walked toward the father and daughter.
